I've noticed that ScreenCrush has just recently started to get super sloppy with their lore, contradicting themselves or making excuses for bad story telling. Not sure exactly when this happened but it shows. Example, a video earlier this week talked about the orange light sabers used by Balen and Shin. Now, in this episode they call them red in an effort to make sense of bad story telling. I could go on but I encourage viewers to pay close attention.
I think the master was present at the Brendak incident. I also think the sisters were controlling either Torbin or Kalnacca and the reactor was somehow sabotaged by the Jedi. Edit: To add, I think the dark force user here is definitely Jason Mendoza and I think his is Plagueis' apprentice, who will die in the show, leaving room for Sidious to become Plagueis' apprentice.
@ethanfleckenstein2334 all any of us can have right now is a theory. In a way we could be both right, there could have been a sith there influencing things, thy saved one of the witches and took them as an apprentice, the apprentice could be what we see presented in the show as maes "master". Like how dooku as the apprentice had palatine as a master but asaj ventress as his acolyte.
I think Vernestra Rwoh is the Sith Lord. She keeps trying to prevent Master Sol from continuing on this mission, doesn't want The Senate to know, and originally thought Osha did it and wanted her on Coruscant. Also going to Khofar allows her to strike without being noticed by others.

It deserves hate or else we keep getting garbage like this. This is not good for the brand or the overall story. It's messy, weird and there to push an activists narrative, rather than George's vision, and most importantly pleasing fans.
Ngl I was hella mad at how it ended so abruptly last night but after watching you guys review and giving it another look it opened my eyes to what they’re actually setting up and it’s some pretty good writing into the Star Wars canon considering what we got with the last trilogy! Thank you Screencrush for actually being the one channel that we who are still passionate about the narrative can turn to without it getting mixed with negative views on politics😄 Great video once again
I hope I am wrong, but my brother and I painstakingly freeze framed early promos of this show and we clearly caught a frame of the masked figure with the red sabre and in that frame we saw a female arm with markings matching the female witch with horns who carried the twins. I would prefer it be Qimir under that helmet but that freeze frame shot, of all arm and hand, clearly shows it is the other mother.
i would bet my 2 left nuts that this isn't the Master but the Apprentice looking for supplant their off screen master. This isn't the Apprentice, it's the Acolyte
Exactly. And hesgone off on his own plan. His Master is more than likely Tenebrous. His plan will fail here. Either the jedi or Tenebrous will kill him and Tenebrous will find a new apprentice in Plagueis.
@@charliedulin Just coming back with another thought, I think we have an apprentice rebelling against the rule of two by collecting acolytes (Qimir is one of them), the off screen master will eventually find out and wipe every single one of them out without the jedi knowing truly what's going on.
Mae’s sudden switch is because of the strength of the force Dyad. She had nothing to live for before and was ok going on a suicide mission for power. Now she’s connected with Osha again in the force and doesn’t want to die anymore. It doesn’t feel rushed at all when you consider the force connection to Osha affecting her turn. Osha is changing abruptly now too and feels more connected and powerful with the force because she’s connected stronger to Mae now, and Mae is a lot more connected and powerful with the force than Osha.
In episode 3 we see that Mae is incredibly attached to Osha and always wants to be where Osha is, whereas Osha is less attached to Mae and wants her own life. When Mae thought that Osha was dead, the only thing she had to live for was revenge against those responsible for her death. Learning the Osha is alive, Mae's new purpose in life is to do whatever she needs to do in order to regain her relationship with Osha.
Orrrrrrr because of bad writing and rushed character development. It never makes sense when people take theories and use them to justify bad writing just for the claims to remain be theories
@@katliutoo didn't she lock her sister in her room and set fire to her book? I mean..... Maybe guilt for thinking that she killed her sister in the fire could cause her to go to the dark side. But that would be better writing than what we're going to see in episode 5 and 6. There are so many contradictions and nonsensical things that happen coupled with over 60 plus member berries per episode. It's insulting
I think that Master is their mother, their birth mother. Who sought out the dark side user who orginally helped make the twins as he was testing the powers before perfecting it with Anikin. The birth mother enraged at the presence of the Jedi and taking her daughter away, teamed up with the whoever the Sith is in exchange for revenge .
I think Sol knows that this is somehow connected to the witches. Mither Koril is probably still lurking out there. Sol gets all sweaty and nervous when the sun sets. He knows they draw power from the moon I'm betting.
So Sol is about to use the force to catch Osha from falling into a pit but is unable to save her from being pushed aside by someone else? The writing in this show is so lame. And the way all the Jedi rush Smilo-Ren(going with that because Darth Teeth sounds like some first grader made it up) was so lame
Mae killed Kelnacca without a weapon. She says “I want this more than anything” then changes her mind when sith dude got got in snare… no, she manipulated him to kill kelnacca. She did the impossible. She was looking up at something very mysteriously when he left to get water as well.
How did she kill him and then walk into his place to be surprised that he was dead? She screamed to draw Qimir to her, into her trap, so she'd changed her mind before he got caught in the trap.
She was looking at a tree, getting the idea for the snare. Kelnacca was clearly killed by a lightsaber, which only The Master had, who conveniently had swept himself off to the same direction Kelnacca’s home was. It’s not a hard connection to make. Mae had nothing to do with Kelnacca’s death. She would have been busy placing the trap for Qimir/The master.
@@alexp601 she didn’t directly kill kelnacca, she manipulated him to kill kelnacca by saying she was going to turn herself in. Pretty smart. Killed kelnacca without a weapon.

The horns from Kylo Ren's theme play at the end of Episode 5. I think this is a hint that the master is Darth Plagueis since they both could use the force to heal people. He's also impressed by Jecki's loyalty to her master, which would be ironic considering what happens to Plagueis.
1. The only way the line in Phantom Menace works is if the jedi group gets killed by Qimir/Darth Venamis, OR if the survivors decide to keep it to themselves and never tell the rest of the Order. Even though Ki Adi Mundi was in the meeting here they never mentioned the Sith in fact they thought it was "one of their own" aka a Jedi or Dark Jedi. Also the jedi are hardheaded and stubborn so ofc Ki Adi Mundi wouldn't even consider the Sith here. 2. As to how Yoda and the high Council knew about the rule of two but not that the Sith were still around well it's easy, somewhere throughout the 1000 years they probably figured this out through Sith holocrons or artifacts, but still believed that eventually they went extinct. Assuming that the acolyte prevents this Sith from being discovered by the rest of the order, it should keep canon intact. 3. As to who "The Master" is, it's one of 6 options. The least likely is Darth Plagueis and Tenebrous. More likely than that is probably one of the Witches (Aniseya is credited for 6 episodes so likely her but Koril only credited for one so prolly not). After that my biggest theory is that it's Qimir, and my hot take is that Qimir is Darth Venamis, making his actions an attempt to overthrow Plagueis and become the only Apprentice to Tenebrous or even kill Tenebrous himself.
But why is Ki Adi Mundi alive to begin with? That's cool that the Wookiepedia age was changed (during the show's broadcast!), but that doesn't account for the official Phantom Menace Insider books and all the other canon sources that contradict it.
@mojoschmee9320 yeah I mean Ki Adi Mundi didn't have an official birthdate technically and it does make sense to expand his species lifespan and stuff since they almost went extinct. But yeah I agree they playing with fire by having Ki Adi Mundi here man as of now it's still not canon breaking technically but let's hope it continues that way.
@jbeattie02 maybe but the showrunners confirmed the Sith involved and also it makes more sense to be a sith who wants to use the magik potential of the sisters to gain power and overthrow his Sith master.
@TWD77710 OK you'll think what I'm about to say is a stretch but in a way it makes sense, what if the "master" is one of the witches and Sol recognizes her, they kill her and he reports yeah it was one of the witches, but it's shown to us that she was being taught led by a sith behind the scenes
Rewatching from episode 1 and when Mae tells Indara to attack her with all her strength, Indara says "Jedi don't attack the unarmed" and Mae says "Yes you do" - 100% the Jedi attacked the coven, or at least it looks that way to Mae's perspective

Oh NO NO NO ya don’t buddy. You were adamant that Balin and Shin from Ahsoka carried ORANGE light sabers and theorized like crazy over it! You can’t say they are red now to support a separate theory.
Given the series' setting around 100 BBY, it is plausible that the Sith with the red lightsaber could represent a younger Darth Plagueis, known for his obsession with cheating death and manipulating midi-chlorians to create life. Plagueis' quest for immortality could easily tie into the dark rituals and mysteries explored in "The Acolyte." His interactions with Mae and Osha could provide insights into his growing power and philosophy. Acting under the orders of his master, Darth Tenebrous, adds layers of complexity and intrigue. The twist of Darth Tenebrous being a hidden Jedi Council member would explain his covert influence and strategic planning, sending Plagueis to eliminate threats and gather knowledge without drawing attention to the Sith's resurgence.
Do we actually know the "official" timelines of the Sith lords? Genuine question as I'm expecting Disney to make up their own. We know Plagueis preceded Sidious but what about before that...?
@@kds5065 This is what I know so far (before Disney messes it up): 💥 (167 BBY) Birth of Darth Tenebrous 💥 (147 BBY) Birth of Darth Plagueis (Hego Damask). @@ComicBookFrontier I'm not sure Darth Tenebrous as of now is official canon. Yes the name is dropped in Rise of Skywalker, but has it been officially established that the name refers to a Sith Lord, much less Darth Plagueis' Master?
One thing is odd. Torben was a Padawan on Brendok, 16 years earlier. He’s been in his Barash Wow for 10 years. That sorta just leaves six years for him to have made Knight, and then Master. I mean it’s possible that on becoming master after only six years, that his feelings of being unworthy of being granted that title, due to his guilt, is what prompted him to take the Barash Wow, immediately following. Still, just six years from Padawan to Jedi Master.
I'm still pretty confident we have a Kingdom Heart situation here, and Osha and Mae are Ventus and Vanitas : One created as pure light, one as pure dark, for some end-goal (possible "fusion" needed)
The story for the show is interesting just the acting and what not Is not the greatest. When they first announced this show they said it would be trough the eyes of the sith . But so far it seems like it's is trough the eyes of the jedi. Maybe it will switch here in the next 4 episode.
@KingBookerT1987 ironically this show either spoon feds or leaves everything so vague that you can't really get anything from it. Perfectly balanced I guess
I think it's koral. Given how harshly she wanted to train the girls and we never saw her dead in the flashback. She would want revenge for the destruction of her coven

@@alexp601 I believe it is around 20 years, and I've seen theories and cricisms based on this being 110 years before Phantom Menance, 20 years could mean the difference between someone being alive, present, etc. I've been enjoying this show, and hoping to minimize the negativity due to misunderstandings.
TPM to AOTC is 10 years they state that in the dialogue. and then its just how long did the clone wars happen.. it doesnt seem like it was decades.. just a few years. they talk about the chancelor giving up his powers or him putting in constitutional amendments to let him stay in power longer than he should be...
Bless this channel for actually bringing common sense discussion to this show which is actually not that bad. God I'm so sick of these cry baby fans on the internet.
I think the "master" is actually the Acolyte. I think he's either Role Playing trying to bring them back, or he's the face of his master's movement and he needs a little help, so he uses the sisters. What makes me think that the mystery guy is the true Acolyte is because they are literally not sith and as such, it would make perfect sense for him to be dealt with by Jedi and not count as a Sith.
I can't be the only person who loves this show. It's not perfect "The power of Many." And I think that green alien chick is....lame. The show rocks though, I have wanted a show with actual Jedi (plural) since Disney started but this is their first.
You think Ki-Adi-Mundi would have mentioned running into some Sith guy a hundred years ago when they were all “There hasn’t been sith in a thousand years” during the prequels
The bigger issue being he shouldn’t even be born at this point, but Plo Koon (who would be alive at this point) seems to be with the group so if that is him then I have the same question about him
Still calling Ishara as Plagueis, returning from the dead, with “he” being a misdirect or part of the reason the master wears a mask. It’s in line with Tyranus/Dooku as “Jedi disillusioned by the order.” Moss also spoke about the need for secrecy on set, including hiding her wardrobe, which would be a spoiler if she was seen walking around wearing black robes instead of the usual Jedi beige.
18:34 probably the only TRUE star wars fan on the writing team ! i couldn't have agreed more.. why do they think i want the same drawn out stories with new characters and wacky sitcom material. all they have to do is take the writing from the comics and make it live action!!!! i think 90% of star wars fans just want to see ACTION instead of a monologued turd...
The best outcome for the show is to cut to a shot of Yoda waking up from a fever dream force nightmare to show none of the events from _The Acolyte_ actually took place.
Love the show, I watch often. This theory might have been said before but here goes. Why does Mae have a soft spot for Sol? Could the twins actually have switched places when the Jedi came to get them? I can see Mae trapping Osha in her room and posed as her.
I think the Sith master at the end of the episode is the bald green jedi lady. She doesn't want to tell the high council what's going on. She was previously a wayseeker because she became disillusioned. It would also explain why there are no more way seekers in the prequel trilogy. The high council disbanded them because of what she is doing under their noses

Example, a video earlier this week talked about the orange light sabers used by Balen and Shin. Now, in this episode they call them red in an effort to make sense of bad story telling.
I could go on but I encourage viewers to pay close attention.
Seeing Doug eating made me so happy.
the lure them in the van with light saber candy statement was gold
Baylan and Shin use orange Lightsabers, not red.
Just proves this guy doesn’t know Star Wars.
True. Was about to say it
@@Swaglander i wouldnt say that. Maybe just a missunderstanding or something from him. Or colorblindness haha

Yes and way earlier than you think he will
He is so wasted in this show. He's one of the few actors in the cast I knew and was looking forward to seeing.

Great theory. I have to say outside the short run times I’m really digging the Acolyte
Nice theory. First time I've heard this one.
Yeah the sith and the jedi were both there. Both were interested in the twins and one of them killed the witches.
@@ethanfleckenstein2334or the master is one of the witches
@@jbeattie02 i doubt that. I bet you the master was there the night the witches died. I also think the master is rhe apprentice and that it's quimer.
I'd just really like to thank you guys for still making enjoyable SW videos that don't ruin the franchise for the rest of us more casual fans. Most of the "experts" we've looked up to for years have become inessant complainers and it's exhausting to listen to. I refuse to let my hobby become a source of frustration so I can't be bothered to listen to or watch the usual experts. SC is still giving me what I'd like to know and connecting the dots for me. Kill WITHOUT a weapon...not just kill. I think the real test is to kill a Jedi's faith...not actually kill the Jedi.
Kill without a weapon hides that a force user made the kill
Always loved your show. Now more than ever.

No its Qimir
@@Timo-nc2nw I am a bit more happy it was the guy rather than the girl. The arm suddenly got more muscular as well, a great red herring I guess.
I want to know how much they paid you to promote this TV show with this positive review
i would bet my 2 left nuts that this isn't the Master but the Apprentice looking for supplant their off screen master. This isn't the Apprentice, it's the Acolyte
Yep. Seems so obvious. Right away this guy thinks he’s the Master. LOL
Was this supposed to read like a Joe biden speech?
In episode 3 we see that Mae is incredibly attached to Osha and always wants to be where Osha is, whereas Osha is less attached to Mae and wants her own life. When Mae thought that Osha was dead, the only thing she had to live for was revenge against those responsible for her death. Learning the Osha is alive, Mae's new purpose in life is to do whatever she needs to do in order to regain her relationship with Osha.
Orrrrrrr because of bad writing and rushed character development. It never makes sense when people take theories and use them to justify bad writing just for the claims to remain be theories
There’s overdosing on copium, and then there is this.
Damn this is a really good theory. Now im really hyped for more episodes of the acolyte
@@Welsed I think she 100% knew qimir was the master, she was looking at him very suspiciously throughout ep 2 3 and this one. She then knew she could trap him and pull a 180 degrees to manipulate him to go and kill kelnacca. Lies and deceit are the ways of the Sith. She said I want this more than anything.
@@TheImmortalQB Why would she think that stringing him upside down and leaving him there would make him somehow get ahead of her and kill Kelnacca? I'm sorry but that makes no sense at all.
Im not going to have any hopes this is a sith lord we've already seen before since even clone x 2 was just nobody just a new character. Im not gonna have any expectations for this sith if hes just a new sith and will be a good character or hes a returning character id be fine either way.

This show is fantastic and i hope we keep reaching back for more high and old republic content. A dyad in the force was written way before episode 9
he's not the master he's the apprentice looking for his own after he kills his own master
Yes that's what they said in the video. The characters just call him the master because he is the only one they know who taught Mae
He's an apprentice of Darth Teneberous. His task was to kill Jedi without a weapon. So he has other people do it.
Agree
Another way it works is if this isn’t a sith, say a witch maybe
Can someone explain where the $190M budget went? This show looks cheap and cinematically on par with a CW show
Episode 4 saved the series 💯💯💯💯everyone be so quick to judgement and needs to let it play out. Now I can't wait for the next episode
Rewatching from episode 1 and when Mae tells Indara to attack her with all her strength, Indara says "Jedi don't attack the unarmed" and Mae says "Yes you do" - 100% the Jedi attacked the coven, or at least it looks that way to Mae's perspective
I want an episode of just Doug (no offense to the rest of the crew). we need an all Doug episode, please!!! Or a day in the life with Doug. Who's with me? 🐕
I'm learning so much from these videos. Love em! The GOT, Joker and Dune cuts killed me.

Wow such a good video!
this makes the Acolyte more interesting to me again!
@@kds5065 This is what I know so far (before Disney messes it up):
💥 (167 BBY) Birth of Darth Tenebrous
💥 (147 BBY) Birth of Darth Plagueis (Hego Damask). Darth Tenebrous was 20 years old at the time.
💥 (100 BBY) Beginning of The High Republic ending ~100 BBY)
💥 (84 BBY) Birth of Darth Sidious (Sheev Palpatine)
💥 (82 BBY) End of the High Republic
💥 (67 BBY) Death of Darth Tenebrous (100 years old) killed by Darth Plagueis
💥 (65 BBY) Darth Plagueis met palpatine who was 19 years old
💥 (32 BBY) Death of Darth Plagueis (115 years old)
💥 (32 BBY) Episode I: The Phantom Menace

One thing is odd. Torben was a Padawan on Brendok, 16 years earlier. He’s been in his Barash Wow for 10 years. That sorta just leaves six years for him to have made Knight, and then Master.
I mean it’s possible that on becoming master after only six years, that his feelings of being unworthy of being granted that title, due to his guilt, is what prompted him to take the Barash Wow, immediately following.
Still, just six years from Padawan to Jedi Master.
German?
It's almost as if he is rewarded for what happened on Brendok.
@@9Siddartha9 Yeah. The thought had occurred to me. 🤔
I'm still pretty confident we have a Kingdom Heart situation here, and Osha and Mae are Ventus and Vanitas : One created as pure light, one as pure dark, for some end-goal (possible "fusion" needed)
This video actually made the show more interesting to me
He tells the story much better than the actual show!!!!
It's called media literacy. Everything does not need to be spoon fed to you.
THANKS for this, Doug and Ryan!!!!!
Great analysis! This was well thought-out.
First episode says 100 years before the rise of the Empire, not before the events of the prequels. A good chunk of time passes between Phantom Menance and the actual rise of the Empire
I think that's around 15-ish years difference. Not a huge difference.
The Rise of the Empire is 19 BBY, and I've seen elsewhere it stated that the show is set 132 BBY.

Qimir = Apprentice

Sol is the real Sith Master
I can't be the only person who loves this show. It's not perfect "The power of Many." And I think that green alien chick is....lame.

You think Ki-Adi-Mundi would have mentioned running into some Sith guy a hundred years ago when they were all “There hasn’t been sith in a thousand years” during the prequels
maybe he was lying?
Unless Ki-Adi-Mundi never hears about it. He’s not with them
The bigger issue being he shouldn’t even be born at this point, but Plo Koon (who would be alive at this point) seems to be with the group so if that is him then I have the same question about him
@@JimmyJr_7apparently that is a different Kel-Dor Jedi, not Plo
@@JimmyJr_7 There's no canon material that says he shouldn't be born at this time.

The best outcome for the show is to cut to a shot of Yoda waking up from a fever dream force nightmare to show none of the events from _The Acolyte_ actually took place.

Why does Mae have a soft spot for Sol? Could the twins actually have switched places when the Jedi came to get them? I can see Mae trapping Osha in her room and posed as her.
Thanks for the video
I think the Sith master at the end of the episode is the bald green jedi lady. She doesn't want to tell the high council what's going on. She was previously a wayseeker because she became disillusioned. It would also explain why there are no more way seekers in the prequel trilogy. The high council disbanded them because of what she is doing under their noses
