Hi 👋🏻
The Yoda laugh is the best part of this video.
14:46 you’re welcome
I spilled my tea 😂
Your hired
If i was in charge of Lucas film i would make an old republic trilogy and a high republic trilogy
Someome call Disney this guys onto something
Too bad Disney don’t listen to LF
That'd be dope. If this goes well I could see more old republic stuff coming out
I agree with you on getting stories in these eras, but why does everything have to be a trilogy? 😂 Sometimes less is more
@@MyUnsecretIdentity I'm not saying everything needs to be trilogy in star wars like exmaple my pitch for Dave felonies movie is not a new republic trilogy it's simply 1 movie
The way Mace answers "I don't believe the sith could've returned without us knowing", shooting eye daggers to Yoda, seems to be a pretty big tell that he's avoiding giving a lie of an answer.
It's also important to remember that at the end of Menace Yoda says "ALWAYS two there are". I don't know about all the other Star Wars fans that are struggling with the idea that Disney is retconning that movie but ALWAYS means ALWAYS. There are ALWAYS Sith.
...and since Yoda was alive and very much in the Order (probably just a member of the Council if not given the title of grandmaster) during these events, I have a feeling it will be his call to erase any mention or outcry that the Sith have returned (much like Dept of Ministry did with Voldemort!) and making the Order more dogmatic so as not to alert citizens of the Republic!
Think of how many swear our own gov't lies to us so as not to cause panic amongst the streets...yeah, like that!!
I love how fans make things up based off of great acting....but then shit on story lines and character development 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
occam's razor = poor writing.
@@weezerwookie excellent writing and a breath of fresh air to this franchise =\= your comprehension
The shitty thing is, Phase II was pretty looked down upon because people wanted to hurry and continue the story of the Phase I characters, which I understand, but Phase II was really really good. If anyone here wants to start reading these, I would recommend going II - I - III. The same way when we watch the films we now go PT-OT-ST.
Path of Vengeance is my favorite SW book. And the Closed Fist Has No Claws short story is a contender some of the best writing in the franchise. So it is a shame too many people skipped it.
strange, when i watch the movies i go OT-OT-OT
Phase 2 is amazing, and arguably better than Phase 1, however it completely killed the momentum that THR had at the end of Phase 1. I think the overarching story would have been much better had Phase 1 gotten two more books and Phase 2's story got released after Phase 3 wrapped up. Within itself Phase 2 is awesome, but it just had such a negative impact on the rest of the books.
As of right now my best advice to new readers would be to read Phase 1, then read Edge of Balance Precedent and The Blade, and then jump into Phase 3
@@colindickson6099 Strange how no one asked.
@@sormeki5638 strange that i don't require your permission to post what i want in a youtube comments section
The anakin nickelback montage was hilarious 😂
I’m new to the era but The Acolyte looks great. This crash course in The High Republic is really helpful. Can’t wait for the premiere of the show.
Same. I'm usually into Clone Wars. It will be interesting to see this Era in live action
Ryan: “A bastion of hope like the citadel in Mass Effect.”
Mass Effect players: 😅
Please do not disturb the Keepers
“This channel is my favorite shop on the Citadel.”
That was such a smooth ass transition into a product placement…
All this complex interwoven lore is insane. I love it.
Thanks for making this video, had not been interested in the high republic before, but the way you explained the Jedi in this era has me very excited for the acolyte
At first I wasn’t either but I started reading the books and was instantly captivated by the Nihil. They are brutal against civilians and Jedi. I’d love to see them in live action.
The FORCE 💪🏾 is very strong with SCREENCRUSH❗️
I can’t imagine Jedi fighting alongside Hutts. My mind has been blown
It was basically one of those "the enemy of my enemy is my not exactly friend" moments.
Starting this right now. Thank you for putting this together for us Screencrush team 🤘😎
I "POP!" for Mass Effect references 🥳👏
Dude, OUTSTANDING video and recap!!
Good job ryan😂
Ya think so? Thx a ton. Hope the premiere of Acolyte was what you were wanting from Star Wars!
If the entirety of Star Wars could be reduced to just one sentence, it could well be "Beware of unforeseen consequences". In other words, you may think you're doing the right thing, but are you? What's the true reason for your doing something and have you thought it out fully? This could be applied to so many situations. Are the Jedi truly good or evil? Is destroying them wise or crazy? Is adopting a rigid set of rules smart or dumb? Are emotional attachments dangerous or beneficial? Is avoiding them wise or will it backfire?
Perhaps an alternate line could be "Life is complicated", or "Shit happens when you least expect it".
I want a film based in the High Republic with Elzar Mann, Avar Kris, and Stellan Gios.
I’d just love to see the Nihil in live action
Embarrassingly enough, I was so focused on the Old Republic and events during and after the Clone wars and Empire that I never even considered taking a look at the High Republic. I'm very excited
💥Great breakdown. now I need a shirt that says... Don't neglect the outer rim.😂👍
Excellent Recap! Thank You, Screen Crush Team! You Rock!🤟🤩
THANKS for this, Doug and Ryan!!!!
I hope it succeeds so I can see old republic stuff, love that era so much
This is what I needed! I’m so PUMPED for this show!
Man, that really sounds great. Huge story.
What do you think of the High Republic?
I absolutely love it. I’ve read most of the books
👋🏻 hi
Much to tell there! Fingers crossed for the show.
I have read all of the adult books, they are amazing!
Loving it. Have read all of the YA at least once, most of them twice
Is this before or after Anakin blew up the Death Star?!
The High Republic is starting to remind me of Luke's Jedi Order in Legends.
Somebody said it, beasts that sense the force...
So we’ve been told this is the height of the republic, Jedi at their purest, no Sith and peace. I wouldn’t be surprised if this show retcons that.
There are always Sith! Just because they went into hiding during the High Republic doesn’t mean they didn’t exist.
This show probably will set the jedi council into becoming more rigid to protect the order which had unintended consequences.
This is the coolest shit, loved this video. Do more of these, longer. I don't have time to consume all this media so it's awesome getting the TLDR.
So much potential and the acolyte did what they did, im in legit grief
Some of the High Republic novels have been hard to follow…so this explanation is important. Now I have to go back to reading the series with this understanding in mind.
@screencrush Kudos to Matt Singer. Awesome Appearance on CBS News discussing the Nasubi Documentary. Been a long time sub and was like, hold up! I know that dude! And then they dropped the screencrush name! How dope!
Thanks a lot, I will show this video to my friends before we watch the Acolyte on Friday. Good job!❤
How exactly, within 100 years, did the Jedi go from wielding light whips, many non temple guard Jedi using yellow sabers… to episode 1 Jedi only having blue and green. Seems unlikely. They should have gone back farther, like 300 years before.
Standardization. As a organization that is semi dependent of a government control, extravagant or personalized elements in the organization are dropped or snuffed out. A good example is Dooku's dueling fighting style. Since lightsaber fights outside the temple were nonexistent, they began to train less Jedu in this style. The book The Living Force gives you a glimpse at this. Also its around this time when the Jedi saw the fall of some of their members to the dark side (at least in legends), so the Order was changing to return to basics, which is why we see a more inflexible and dogmatic organization by episode episode 1.
I think phase 3 will give the reason for the fall. Those stranded in the Outer Rim without support or guidance might fall in droves to the dark and that can cause a ruckus that is bad enough that the Jedi become increasingly centralized and insular to keep control of their members. I mean the Outer Rim looks like crap even in comparison to the Mid Rim, if this conflict is the reason why, well, things will turn bad in the comics.
This series might just be the breaking point where the council goes into overdrive and starts punishing the outliers.
After the fall of Starlight Beacon, lightsaber production was ramped up. Jedi were spending less time making a unique blade to make something more utilitarian to get out into the field quickly. I imagine this trend continued in the years to follow. This is covered in the comic Shadows of Starlight. Also, AFAIK Vernestra Rwoh is the only Jedi with a light whip and it was contentious within the order whether she should even have it (it has some Sith origins).
Sure, but how in 32 years from 32 bby to the battle of yavin was there an entire order to effectively no jedi left. Sit back and let the story breathe.
Who knows Disney ruined Legends cannon so who knows.
thank God for this channel, explaining the Rashomon effect to the ignorant masses riding on the hate for this series.
There's three ways to interpret your comment...
After Jedi survivor I got so hyped for the world to get introduced to the high republic
I wonder why no one ever mentions "homework" when it comes to watching new SWU series. ;-)
I’m hoping this show is BIG, and the sith turns out to be Plageus or Sidious! And if it shows how Palpatine started influencing the Jedi to neglect the force… i will go wild
I feel like the High Republic is...pretty much the Old Republic, but without the Sith to fight or fall to. Granted, the Jedi of that time were a lot more divided, but there were still Jedi that fell in love with each other and who were close to each other. And they did care about others, hence the divide.
Thanks to Ryan and Pavel! 🌑 I'm so ready for THE ACOLYTE.
14:55 giggle like yoda, anyone else did?! LOL🤣🤣🤣
Great editing team. Always so creative...
Interesting to see how this turns out, tbh I was interested by the High Republic from stuff in Jedi Survivor. In late High Republic era a young Count Dooku is born, later taken in under Yoda.
Soooo Good!! So effing keen for the ACOLYTE. I foresee the future of Star Wars looks good👍
So I'm curious, is Yoda around in this show? And will we see him or will they keep him out of it, to keep it fresh and new?
Old Republic forever
I just started reading Light of the Jedi. Really looking forward to seeing how it all turns out, and pumped for the Acolyte as well.
This story is showing is when Yoda admits he was wrong to continue the ways of Jedi back when he came to the order. He had a chance to change things but didn't.
Yoda is super flawed
😂 16:08 Hero! Omg! I can't! Lmao! Best part ever! 😂
Thanks. I'll look into the High Republic story arc. 🙏
Great explanation
Fun is over priced and not great but glad you all got a sponsor. This looks to be a solid series, can't wait for Asoka season 2 as well
i watched a few explain this... your explains it the best. thank you
I really appreciate the work you guys put into this video, it’s just too bad this show is gonna bomb so hard
>>it’s just too bad this show is gonna bomb so hard
So much information to take in after I finished the video I forgot everything already! 😂
Great breakdown!!
11:48 Thank you for using the correct pronunciation of Marchion Ro!
Incredible content. Thanks for your time, expertise, and explanations.
So... we need Plo Koon in this show. NEED. He's about 300 years old during the Clone Wars, so he'd only be about 200 years old during this era. We. Need. More. Plo. Koon.
Hes not alive then both in canon and legends but his master tyvokka would be
Ryan!!! It’s been awhile I’m looking forward to your breakdowns
Doug schooling you again Ryan! We need Doug taking the lead sometime! 🐩
Stellan Gios, Elazr, Bell, Portor and Keeve Trennis are my Favs.
it makes no sense that jedi changed so much in mere 100 years as they existed for thousands
Yoda was on sum bs bro
During the High Republic era the Jedi were still integrating members from newly discovered species. One hundred years is plenty of time for an organisation to become stagnant once the host government stops expanding into new territory because the most recent acquisitions aren't assimilating into the body politic (laying the groundwork for the Clone Wars).
I’ve read a lot of the old republic stories. It’s totally believable. If they find out the Sith are still around, it’s like finding out the boogeyman is real and will get you. So how do you deal with an invisible enemy that focuses only on your destruction? You double down, and get more dogmatic. You form a more bunker mentality, and are not tolerant of others who are tempted by the dark side. This has happened with humanity historically plenty of times.
It makes sense in the context of the Grand Plan of the Sith. As Darth Plagueis novel explains, around this time, the Sith began to proactively influence the galaxy's economic and political development.
You don’t know how much more different they were 900 years previous.
Great video! Super excited for the Acolyte. It's really annoying to see so many outlets and youtubers are talking bad about the show before it has even come out!
I don't care about the gender, race, or sexual identity of any character! Or who directs the show, I just want good Star Wars stories and shows.
F**k Toxic Star Wars fans!
“The order was way more flexible with its ideals and codes” Well, 😊that hasn’t aged well after two episodes of The Acolyte
can we get a old republic era go-over, cos feels osme elements of that are releavent for the various things going on in the high republic, clone wars, empire and new republic era's in some form (and if you do, dont forget the best droid ever: hk-47)
LIAR!!! that was hilarious😂
Damn those cuts had me lol.
Someone probably caught this already but the clothing/armor style of the Nihil matches Enfys Nest.
Vanestra Rwoh and Marchion Ro . Its almost like they rhyme, like poetry
That fum ad is unhinged
The nameless has yet to cross the Doctor..
great vid, BUT soooo many spoilers for Light of the Jedi! I'm actively reading it right now and unfortunately know what's gonna happen now :P
Awesome fight scenes... finally bridging kungfu levels of hidden dragon with the force - 25 years too late.
You just had to bring Sequel Luke into this... that was a low blow, man.
So, the jedi in the high republic were at their greatest power and ideology where they were true Heros.
But then you tell us, they abandon the outer rim and lie to everyone about threats they face.
😑
That Darth Wataryu is a badass❤
What high republic books should I get to reading? I prefer just plan boring old chapter books. Not a big fan of comics or graphic novels.
Wow this has me so hyped!
Always a great breakdown.
Thanks, for the insights!
The Fans: This true George?
George Lucas: I have no idea what they're cooking
Great sponsors young man, I have been looking for a show like this.
cant wait for the first 2 episodes !!
Starlight Beacon is like the Library of Alexandria
The powers of one the power of two the power of MANY!!!! Lmao
Incredible two episodes! I am greatly surprised. Can’t wait for more! Star Wars is back on good level ❤️
Wait till you see Episode 3, with the "All-Female Planet of Strong, Brave Turkey Basters!" You'll probably love it!
I can’t get my head around the fact that during the high republic, is when they were exploring the outer rim. But During the old republic, the outer rim is already a thing 🤔 unless during the high republic they discover “more” of the outer rim? Idk 🤷♂️
I assume that's a result of the old Sith Wars literally bringing a 'dark age' to the Republic, where much civilization collapsed over a thousand year period, @wownerd1313 .
Or at least, that's how it was portrayed in pre Disney lore. I assume it's largely the same now?
So they are actually rediscovering much of the rim, instead. Plus, it needs further settling.
I still hold hope we get to see a real Sith i dont think we will but HOPE
Great breakdown, I'm more excited for the Acolyte. Although, I have to admit, with the exception of the MAndalorian and Andor, the track record for Disney and Star Wars is not great.
Luke was scared because he was a part of the aftermath of the fall of the republic and only knew what the jedi were near the end
Ima go down to Shmendricks to pick you up some nice chopped sirloin!
Should’ve kept the old republic cannon and mixed in the high republic after those events or maybe before
We need a video of Yoda's shenanigans now
Cheers, bro!
I hope everyone enjoys season one because that’s all they’re getting.
Yoda should be around right, I hope we get to see him
Say BBY one more time! I got lost lol
