      No, if the corporations weren't constantly scared of interracial relationships and trying to normalize emo millennial culture then Rey would be with Finn and would've killed Kylo. Rey was and is more powerful than Kylo. She outmatched him in telepathy, she can generate force lightning, and her telekinesis is stronger.

    • @OVERDEAUXIS
      @OVERDEAUXIS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      @@JJ_LL when it comes to the force, they are both the same. Kylo actually trained her without realizing- for example the prisoner scene at TFA. whenever he challenged her, she had to use the force and learned from it. it explains a lot. and Finn was a good character that was stupidly muted but I still prefer Rey saving Ben and Finn being her first apprentice after TROS

  • @cucumberwater6
    @cucumberwater6 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2159

    okay that force jump was pretty awesome. What was more impressive was that Kylo landed even further than Rey showing that he'd always been her superior, due to being better trained.

    • @bensherstinskymusic
      @bensherstinskymusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +97

      It could be him having more training, but actually I think it's because Rey is weaker due to healing the snake. Rey and Kylo are a Dyad in the Force with equal power, as we see when they split the lightsaber in two in TLJ. But when Rey heals the snake she loses some of that power.

      Agreed, Rey lost that fight before she ever started it-and Kylo Ren knew it from the start. What he wanted was for her to give in to the Dark Side and be his...well, other half? Queen? Partner?
      The thing is, when Rey duels Dark Side Rey briefly, who looks a lot like Kylo Ren? Rey looses that fight too. I have a feeling Dark Side Rey would have slaughtered Kylo Ren-and no, not just because she's a Palpatine. Remember Luke's reaction when Rey reaches out to the Dark Side in the previous film, because it offers answers? Because Rey is drawn to it, while Kylo is drawn to the Light, but refuses it because of what he see's as his family betraying him, starting with Luke when he was a boy?
      Rey is a creature of the Dark Side who turns away from it because she met the right people at the right time. Lack of training notwithstanding, she's as powerful as Kylo Ren, easily. But both deny the truth of their natures so cannot be all they could be.
      If Rey had been in Kylo Ren's position? She'd have been unstoppable, she never had the family ties he did that stopped him from ever becoming truly evil. Plus, she'd likely have killed Palpatine. If Kylo Ren had been in her position? With family and friends and his Uncle Luke backing him up? He might just have been the one thing who could even possibly stopped Dark Side Rey.
      But the sequel trilogy took the easy out of having Rey be a good Soul and never giving into the Dark Side, while Leia's ultimate sacrifice saved her son. If they'd flipped the two in 8? The outcome would have been a lot more interesting...

    Here, Rey is the one that is unbalanced and losing it from learning that she is a Palpatine while Kylo is the one focused and in control to the point he is practically toying with her throughout most of the fight.

    I know a lot of people hate on Rey’s character, but I personally think Daisy Ridley did an amazing job portraying her nonetheless, especially right here. You can see how she’s fighting herself while she’s fighting Ben. You can see how distracted she is just by her sloppiness. Ben saw it too in this scene. Everyone knows Rey can fight SO much better than how she did right here--she was just too distracted and angry with herself to even really try. Ben didn’t even take advantage of that because he loved her. GREAT ACTING in my opinion.

    3:29 - Notice that Rey can only hold Kylo’s lightsaber at bay with the force for like a second and her face indicates immense struggle for even just that second she’s holding it there…
    3:35 - While Kylo holds hers with ease for awhile not even looking at it, with such power that it’s literally distorting and bending the plasma of the blade. If you look at Rey, she moves her eyes from the saber to him and then back at the distorting saber almost in awe as she’s realising that he’s not even breaking a sweat here, showing how superior he actually is in the force, being a Skywalker.
    3:44 - Rey realising she’s completely outmatched in every way possible and there’s no hope for her to win this fight on her own.
    When you factor in the fact that he’s so obviously not even in second gear for this whole entire fight, how he didn’t even need to jump the massive waves because they didn’t pose a real threat to him, how he jumped after Rey and landed ahead of her, how he side stepped her ever swing in the beginning 1:08 without even igniting his lightsaber. I think it’s clear as day that Kylo could’ve killed Rey at any given moment in this trilogy if he actually wanted to, this fight literally wouldn’t have even left the Death Star throne room if he was there to kill her.

    Supposedly, George Lucas himself had some input on this movie, and if that’s true it definitely shows in this fight with how much it rhymes with the Anakin vs Obi-Wan duel in RotS.
    • Water planet instead of lava.
    • The Skywalker is calm and being pulled to the Light vs being angry and falling to the Dark.
    • The Jedi is temperamental and on the offensive instead of calm and on the defensive.

    I genuinely don’t know how people say *”Kylo is weak he can’t even beat Rey”* it’s like are we even watching the same movies…it couldn’t be more obvious that Kylo is leagues more skilled than Rey in every possible way.
    Even Palpatine knew Kylo was up to something because Rey wasn’t dead yet *”The Jedi apprentice still lives…perhaps you have betrayed me…do not make me turn my fleet against you”* in other words *”If she’s not dead yet, it’s because you are letting her live”* Palpatine knows Kylo could demolish Rey with ease if his mind was on that task…

Well... besides Palp's massive Force Lightning which was just an eye candy :p Kylo's character actually had depth and motivation, even if he was more of an anti-hero than a villain. I also like his form when fighting. It's like he lacks proper training, in the Dark Side anyway, and just uses raw power and instinct. Funny, while he is the Dark Side user, he was always more in control of himself than Rey, imo.

Ionized plasma would do this. However, the lightsaber lore is that the energy given off by the kyber crystal, imbued with the force, will bring the blades closer together and attract them. Depending on who has the more powerful swing or momentum will determine if a person gets staggered or if physical force is met with physical force. Thats why Vader completely bodies Luke in Empire while Luke can match Vaders physical prowess in Jedi. Here however, its as if the character are using physical staffs instead of energized kyber crystals.

Kylo could have just killed her and took a slot at sidious' side like his grandfather, allowing the darkside to take a hold of him yet again, which he does for a moment. But then in the end he chose the light side and fought against the emperor.
