Kylo ren was the villain dude. That was the point of killing snoke. The new trilogy was about him and Rey, who gives a fuck about snoke? He’s just some boring evil guy. Kylo ren makes a much more compelling villain because the audience can actually identify with him.
This was the biggest insult to the fans. Having a fake sith lord be nothing but a puppet. That and having Palpatine come back was a joke too. Pretty sure that was a majority opinions as well. Abrams set up the trilogy story in TFA only to have Johnson turn it upside down in TLJ. Abrams had to throw everything into TROS to somewhat clean up the mess Johnson left. He basically had to throw the kitchen sink in there.

An enemy stand Okay, I’ll give my opinion on why what Rian Johnson produced was shit. Luke’s character was awful and his personality was shit, Leia turns into superman, annoying purple haired woman wouldn’t tell Poe her plans so the whole betrayal was basically her fault, whole casino side plot was stupid and boring and lead to absolutely nothing but many people on their own team dying because of them, who gets arrested for parking on a beach too? The new characters Holdo, Rose and DJ are bad. Rose made a stupid choice to stop Finn from saving everyone on Crete. Snoke and Phasma were killed too early in their arc and weren’t even given the chance to do anything to add to the story, they literally just existed and died. There was no light sabre action by Luke whatsoever, except his force ghost but even then he was just dodging not fighting. This movie literally causes no progress in the story, they’re at the exact same point as at the end of TFA except now loads of people have needlessly died. Anyway that’s my view on it.
The fact that Snoke is a clone made me think of how in Legends Darth Sidious took a Gamorrean and a Kowakian Monkey-Lizard and mutated them through Sith Alchemy. Gorc and Pic were reborn as Mutants with a Force-Bond and were codenamed the Brothers of the Sith.

This scene could have singlehandedly provided the perfect opportunity for the Sequels to become a wonderful closing curtain on the saga. Except they ruined and completely squandered it, because money speaks much louder than a well crafted narrative for Disney. Throughout the entire Star Wars Saga, we hear ‘find balance in the force’. It is clear that the all powerful and all binding entity that is the ‘Force’ is looking for balance, because without balance there is only chaos. As shown in every single movie, the Force sets up and ‘intervenes’ by providing opportunities in each ‘key moment’ throughout the Saga so that this balance can be eventually achieved. The Sequels SHOULD have been about finding ‘balance’ through the mutual destruction and renunciation of both the Jedi Order and the Sith Order. Therefore, creating a new ‘order’ entirely, the Order of the (now balanced) Force. Yet, all we got was some weird mash up, with the only aim of re-creating a similar financial and societal success of the original trilogy. What we COULD have got would have been a very powerful cinematic Sequel trilogy. The Jedi thought balance could be brought about by enforcing ‘order’ across the galaxy through abstaining from almost everything that was considered ‘temptation’. Including any and all emotion: “there is no emotion, there is peace”. All Sentient Beings experience emotion, it’s something hardwired within them. Without it, there is no point in living because to have a meaningful and fulfilling life means you must embrace and express emotion. They thought that by suppressing their anger, frustration and any feelings of malice automatically made them ‘good’. They sat upon their high horse, claiming their way was ‘Just’ and ‘Righteous’. Yet, they were still not alerted to the Sith hiding amongst their numbers. They were blinded and ultimately destroyed by their own toxic pride. The Sith thought that balance could be brought about by enforcing ‘order’ across the Galaxy with a brute iron fist. They thought raw and untamed power was the key to using the Force to its’ full potential. They believed the Jedi were simply not tapping into the full scope and reach of the Force. They felt that instead of suppressing their emotions, they would unleash them with passion. Specifically focusing on the emotions of anger, frustration and malice. However, their constant search for ‘power’ was never satisfied. Their untamed emotions always destroyed them. They were blinded and ultimately destroyed by their own toxic lust. Both the Jedi and the Sith were wrong. The Force knew that, because..well...it’s the Force. Both sides were two extreme ends of one pole, with them both claiming their ‘way’ was right and was the only ‘correct’ understanding of the Force. So, that being said, how could this Scene have set up the Sequel Trilogy for a much more thorough and wholesome narrative? Well, for starters it should have acted as the ‘crossing point’ between the ‘light’ and the ‘dark’ sides of the Force. Similar to the Yin and Yang symbol. Rey was being forcibly pushed towards the Light and Kylo (Ben) was forcing himself towards the Dark. Both of these paths were ‘forced’ and unnatural for both of them and they knew that. Rey wanted desperately to become a Jedi and looked up to Luke Skywalker, Kylo wanted desperately to become a Sith and looked up to Darth Vader. Yet, leading up to this Scene, we saw Kylo constantly feeling the ‘pull’ from the Light and forcing himself to reject it. On the flip side, in the lead up to this Scene, we saw Rey acting bashful, enraged and passionate with a temptation to act out aggressively just like a Sith. Therefore, this Scene should have been Rey giving in to the Dark and Kylo giving into the Light. It should have been a polarity shift. Rey was passionately enraged when she brandishes Kylo’s red lightsaber but Kylo was calm and composed. In this moment, Snoke (who was a fantastic villain) should have realised Rey’s true Sith potential and simultaneously realised why it’s been so difficult trying to train Kylo to be a true and pure Sith. Then, it should have become less about killing Snoke and more about seducing Rey. Snoke’s line to Rey should have been “you have the spirit of a true...Sith”. She’d be trying to kill Snoke for the same reasons, because she believed it was right, but would be trying to do it through personal anger and would have given in to temptation, thus revealing her true character. Kylo on the other hand was starting to feel utter shame, guilt and regret about what he had done (killing his own father) he was starting to realise he‘s not a Sith. No matter how hard he tries, he’ll never become like Darth Vader. He starts to turn back to the Light, just like Vader did in ROTJ. Snoke would hold Rey effortlessly on her knees with the Force as it happens in the Scene, with Rey expressing complete and utter rage. Snoke orders Kylo to strike her down, and Rey is almost egging him on because she’s so enraged with little to no care, she’s dead either way. Kylo raises his red saber, but then lowers it and throws it across the room. Rey sees her opportunity and Force pulls his red saber to herself and goes to strike him, but Kylo (now becoming Ben) Force pulls the blue lightsaber (His Grandfather’s) from Snoke’s chair and blocks her strike just in time. Both of their characters have now assumed their ‘true’ forms for the first time. Rey has become a Palpatine (Sith) and Kylo has become a Skywalker (Jedi). They both duel, now as their assumed counter opposites. It would directly mirror their duel in the Force awakens, showing a complete flip in allegiances to understandings of the Force. Snoke would be a spectator, watching Jedi become Sith and Sith become Jedi right before his eyes. There would now be higher stakes involved as not only are Rey and Kylo fighting each other, they would also need to defend themselves against Snoke’s guards. Snoke should NOT have been killed off here, Andy Serkis performance was brilliant and the whole time I was watching I felt on the edge of my seat at what he was going to do next. Snoke should have been the final villain at the end of Rise of Skywalker, not Palpatine. So, in this new alteration, Snoke would have survived as it would be revealed that he was Force projecting the entire time, his projection would disappear as he was physically on Exegol. Snoke would later be revealed to be Darth Plagueis, hence why he is so powerful and seemingly ‘all knowing’. This new alteration I’ve proposed for the scene, would allow Rey to fully assume the Dark side of the force and take the Sith throne in Rise of Skywalker. Not out of mindless evil or a sudden change in heart, but because she believed it would be the only way to stop the war and save her friends (just like Anakin with Padame). Plus, it would allow her to channel all of the anger and frustration that she expresses about her time on Jakku and being abandoned. Kylo would now become Ben, and fully assume the Light side of the force, surrendering himself to the Resistance. It would allow him to find refuge and forgiveness for what he had done. Thus, both characters would not only assume their ‘true’ identities but would have found meaning, purpose and resolution in doing so. In the final battle in Rise of Skywalker, it should have been Rey (now revealed to be a Palpatine) on the throne with Snoke (now Plagueis) manipulating her. Promising her that she could stop the war and save her friends, if she killed Kylo and assumed the role of Empress. Kylo (now Ben) would arrive and a Duel of the Fates would ensue. Rey has become ‘all’ of the Sith and Ben has become ‘all’ of the Jedi. This massive collision between the two extreme sides of the Force would cancel each other out and result in mutual destruction. Both Rey and Ben would soon realise that by either one of them dying, there would still be chaos in the Force and across the Galaxy. So they turn their efforts towards Plagueis. It would become the Jedi and the Sith TOGETHER in unison against the unbalance of the Force, which is ultimately Plagueis as he has been pulling the strings since the Phantom Menance. With the destruction of Plagueis would come the simultaneous destruction of both the Jedi and the Sith Orders, as Rey and Ben renounce their ‘allegiances’ and instead become ones with the Force. THEN, when Rey ignites her yellow lightsaber at the end of Rise of Skywalker, it would have had a much better symbolic meaning. The Star Wars Saga would have closed with the Force finally finding balance and order restored across the Galaxy.
Everytime Snoke was on screen he was menacing with a great voice and made the scene 10 times better. Such a shame Rian killed him just to "subvert our expectations" smh

An enemy stand Okay, I’ll give my opinion on why what Rian Johnson produced was shit. Luke’s character was awful and his personality was shit, Leia turns into superman, annoying purple haired woman wouldn’t tell Poe her plans so the whole betrayal was basically her fault, whole casino side plot was stupid and boring and lead to absolutely nothing but many people on their own team dying because of them, who gets arrested for parking on a beach too? The new characters Holdo, Rose and DJ are bad. Rose made a stupid choice to stop Finn from saving everyone on Crete. Snoke and Phasma were killed too early in their arc and weren’t even given the chance to do anything to add to the story, they literally just existed and died. There was no light sabre action by Luke whatsoever, except his force ghost but even then he was just dodging not fighting. This movie literally causes no progress in the story, they’re at the exact same point as at the end of TFA except now loads of people have needlessly died. Anyway that’s my view on it.

The fact that Snoke is a clone made me think of how in Legends Darth Sidious took a Gamorrean and a Kowakian Monkey-Lizard and mutated them through Sith Alchemy. Gorc and Pic were reborn as Mutants with a Force-Bond and were codenamed the Brothers of the Sith.

That scene where the lightsaber flies back to Snoke.. did anyone else see Kylo move slightly out of the way.. as if he already expected it to be plucked out of Rey's path by Snoke.. it's kind of funny yet sad..in a hopeless kind of way..
This scene could have singlehandedly provided the perfect opportunity for the Sequels to become a wonderful closing curtain on the saga. Except they ruined and completely squandered it, because money speaks much louder than a well crafted narrative for Disney. Throughout the entire Star Wars Saga, we hear ‘find balance in the force’. It is clear that the all powerful and all binding entity that is the ‘Force’ is looking for balance, because without balance there is only chaos. As shown in every single movie, the Force sets up and ‘intervenes’ by providing opportunities in each ‘key moment’ throughout the Saga so that this balance can be eventually achieved. The Sequels SHOULD have been about finding ‘balance’ through the mutual destruction and renunciation of both the Jedi Order and the Sith Order. Therefore, creating a new ‘order’ entirely, the Order of the (now balanced) Force. Yet, all we got was some weird mash up, with the only aim of re-creating a similar financial and societal success of the original trilogy. What we COULD have got would have been a very powerful cinematic Sequel trilogy.
The Jedi thought balance could be brought about by enforcing ‘order’ across the galaxy through abstaining from almost everything that was considered ‘temptation’. Including any and all emotion: “there is no emotion, there is peace”. All Sentient Beings experience emotion, it’s something hardwired within them. Without it, there is no point in living because to have a meaningful and fulfilling life means you must embrace and express emotion. They thought that by suppressing their anger, frustration and any feelings of malice automatically made them ‘good’. They sat upon their high horse, claiming their way was ‘Just’ and ‘Righteous’. Yet, they were still not alerted to the Sith hiding amongst their numbers. They were blinded and ultimately destroyed by their own toxic pride.
The Sith thought that balance could be brought about by enforcing ‘order’ across the Galaxy with a brute iron fist. They thought raw and untamed power was the key to using the Force to its’ full potential. They believed the Jedi were simply not tapping into the full scope and reach of the Force. They felt that instead of suppressing their emotions, they would unleash them with passion. Specifically focusing on the emotions of anger, frustration and malice. However, their constant search for ‘power’ was never satisfied. Their untamed emotions always destroyed them. They were blinded and ultimately destroyed by their own toxic lust.
Both the Jedi and the Sith were wrong. The Force knew that, because..well...it’s the Force. Both sides were two extreme ends of one pole, with them both claiming their ‘way’ was right and was the only ‘correct’ understanding of the Force.
So, that being said, how could this Scene have set up the Sequel Trilogy for a much more thorough and wholesome narrative? Well, for starters it should have acted as the ‘crossing point’ between the ‘light’ and the ‘dark’ sides of the Force. Similar to the Yin and Yang symbol. Rey was being forcibly pushed towards the Light and Kylo (Ben) was forcing himself towards the Dark. Both of these paths were ‘forced’ and unnatural for both of them and they knew that. Rey wanted desperately to become a Jedi and looked up to Luke Skywalker, Kylo wanted desperately to become a Sith and looked up to Darth Vader. Yet, leading up to this Scene, we saw Kylo constantly feeling the ‘pull’ from the Light and forcing himself to reject it. On the flip side, in the lead up to this Scene, we saw Rey acting bashful, enraged and passionate with a temptation to act out aggressively just like a Sith.
Therefore, this Scene should have been Rey giving in to the Dark and Kylo giving into the Light. It should have been a polarity shift.
Rey was passionately enraged when she brandishes Kylo’s red lightsaber but Kylo was calm and composed. In this moment, Snoke (who was a fantastic villain) should have realised Rey’s true Sith potential and simultaneously realised why it’s been so difficult trying to train Kylo to be a true and pure Sith. Then, it should have become less about killing Snoke and more about seducing Rey. Snoke’s line to Rey should have been “you have the spirit of a true...Sith”. She’d be trying to kill Snoke for the same reasons, because she believed it was right, but would be trying to do it through personal anger and would have given in to temptation, thus revealing her true character. Kylo on the other hand was starting to feel utter shame, guilt and regret about what he had done (killing his own father) he was starting to realise he‘s not a Sith. No matter how hard he tries, he’ll never become like Darth Vader. He starts to turn back to the Light, just like Vader did in ROTJ.
Snoke would hold Rey effortlessly on her knees with the Force as it happens in the Scene, with Rey expressing complete and utter rage. Snoke orders Kylo to strike her down, and Rey is almost egging him on because she’s so enraged with little to no care, she’s dead either way. Kylo raises his red saber, but then lowers it and throws it across the room. Rey sees her opportunity and Force pulls his red saber to herself and goes to strike him, but Kylo (now becoming Ben) Force pulls the blue lightsaber (His Grandfather’s) from Snoke’s chair and blocks her strike just in time. Both of their characters have now assumed their ‘true’ forms for the first time. Rey has become a Palpatine (Sith) and Kylo has become a Skywalker (Jedi). They both duel, now as their assumed counter opposites. It would directly mirror their duel in the Force awakens, showing a complete flip in allegiances to understandings of the Force. Snoke would be a spectator, watching Jedi become Sith and Sith become Jedi right before his eyes. There would now be higher stakes involved as not only are Rey and Kylo fighting each other, they would also need to defend themselves against Snoke’s guards.
Snoke should NOT have been killed off here, Andy Serkis performance was brilliant and the whole time I was watching I felt on the edge of my seat at what he was going to do next. Snoke should have been the final villain at the end of Rise of Skywalker, not Palpatine. So, in this new alteration, Snoke would have survived as it would be revealed that he was Force projecting the entire time, his projection would disappear as he was physically on Exegol. Snoke would later be revealed to be Darth Plagueis, hence why he is so powerful and seemingly ‘all knowing’.
This new alteration I’ve proposed for the scene, would allow Rey to fully assume the Dark side of the force and take the Sith throne in Rise of Skywalker. Not out of mindless evil or a sudden change in heart, but because she believed it would be the only way to stop the war and save her friends (just like Anakin with Padame). Plus, it would allow her to channel all of the anger and frustration that she expresses about her time on Jakku and being abandoned. Kylo would now become Ben, and fully assume the Light side of the force, surrendering himself to the Resistance. It would allow him to find refuge and forgiveness for what he had done. Thus, both characters would not only assume their ‘true’ identities but would have found meaning, purpose and resolution in doing so.
In the final battle in Rise of Skywalker, it should have been Rey (now revealed to be a Palpatine) on the throne with Snoke (now Plagueis) manipulating her. Promising her that she could stop the war and save her friends, if she killed Kylo and assumed the role of Empress.
Kylo (now Ben) would arrive and a Duel of the Fates would ensue. Rey has become ‘all’ of the Sith and Ben has become ‘all’ of the Jedi. This massive collision between the two extreme sides of the Force would cancel each other out and result in mutual destruction.
Both Rey and Ben would soon realise that by either one of them dying, there would still be chaos in the Force and across the Galaxy. So they turn their efforts towards Plagueis. It would become the Jedi and the Sith TOGETHER in unison against the unbalance of the Force, which is ultimately Plagueis as he has been pulling the strings since the Phantom Menance. With the destruction of Plagueis would come the simultaneous destruction of both the Jedi and the Sith Orders, as Rey and Ben renounce their ‘allegiances’ and instead become ones with the Force.
THEN, when Rey ignites her yellow lightsaber at the end of Rise of Skywalker, it would have had a much better symbolic meaning. The Star Wars Saga would have closed with the Force finally finding balance and order restored across the Galaxy.
When Snoke was getting cut in half she should’ve said “Oopsy Daisy!” :D
