@@saltcreekammo The LBC 50 is one of the few I have not ordered yet. I just ordered some Ranger elite as the SOS Has many loads for it. Thanks again. I have only just started in reloading and appreciate any info I can get.
Are you only interested in using AS powder? I have some now but it was unobtainium for 3 years so I just developed a bunch of steel shot loads using longshot. LS does great with steel shot as well, lots of loads out there for it.
I started with Longshot as it was the only thing I could find also. I do have some decent loads for 2 3/4 with Longshot. Now that I too was able to get some Alliant Steel I am working on loads with it also. So many options available now that I have obtained both powders.
12 gauge 3" Cheddite hull/primer
35 grains Steel
LBC50 wad
1-1/4oz steel shot
Fold crimp.
1450-1480 FPS
Same load with 50 grains Lil'Gun gives you 1520 FPS and 10,700 PSI.
I've killed a pile of ducks with the first load.
2-3/4" Cheddite hull/primer.
34 grains Steel
CSD118 wad
1-1/8oz steel shot
Fold crimp
1450 FPS.
"Holy Grail load" (search Dave in Arizona "HG" load)
Thanks for the info. Still looking for the best load. Will have to order some of those wads and give them a try.
@@Duckslayer1096 these are some of the best steel load out there
