@@Duckslayer1096 Wade Rush data but I use 2.75 hulls with 3in wads and roll crimp. On rem sts hulls I use 12 pellet .33 cal with cb1138 and roll crimp . The rem sts hulls are very tough. Using my last bit of 800x but use mostly long shot

@@Duckslayer1096 I have the primer sealer. Bought it from Cabelas. I don’t think there is any difference between it and nail polish.

@@gregc247 Load data from Status of Steel. I have been told federal hulls are the same as cheddite hulls. You will have to make your own decision regarding that.

I am good with the speeds. Just need the ducks a little closer. I like the LBC 50 and TPS wads. MG 42 is ok, but I think the biggest load for steel is 1oz.

@@Mr.Nippit the load is from Status of Steel fall within pressure specifications. I can look it up if you would like the exact pressure.

@@clks1165 I have read they are a little harder. Some say don’t use them and others say it’s ok. I don’t have any solid info it won’t hurt your gun. May wear out ur barrel faster. use at your own risk Is my recommendation.

@@jonathanmelanson3257 That is a great question. But wax is more of a lubricant and melts at high temps. I went away from fingernail polish because I believe it would cause more trouble. I wouldn’t think it would break down very well.

@@clks1165 If you use BB for ducks I would think it would work. I use 4’s or 5’s for ducks. Worked great on the geese.

#2 shot is the size limit for ducks in most places.

Plastic base. Federal are the same as cheddite hulls

@@clintezell3298 Longshot works well with steel shot. They are plastic base. I use the trap load hulls. Very easy to find.

Not enough room in a tapered hull. I now have a different way to prevent powder creep.

Definitely agree. It’s also great to listen to the hunting stories from the guys I make up rounds for.

Highest payload for steel in a 3” I’ve done is 1 1/4oz. I think the pressure will be too high for more payload.

I have two in my manual. First is in a cheddite hull 19 grains longshot CSD16 wad 1/8 felt wad with 7/8 steel. Or cheddite hull 20 grains Longshot NC16 then a CSD16 wad with 7/8 oz of steel. Good luck I don’t have a 16 gauge reloader. Both in 2 3/4inch hulls.

I have not seen any or looked for data on vihtavuori. That is definitely a heavy load for steel. What’s the speed and pressure?

@Duckslayer1096 it is now alliant 2400 now, and I have 3 can of it do note this data was from 1994 from mec when they were making steel wads before selling the wads to precision reloading and I would send the load in for extra testing because this is a 35 year old load data and I think you have only ched209 primer
