I have three Icebears and the stock carb works great non all three. The biggest issuer is that plastic plug you pointed out. Take a pointed thing-ee like a sharp awl, heat ut up with a lighter, then poke it through the thin plastic cap and lift it out. All three Icebears had different adjustments. One was spot on. One was 4 turns out, and the last one was 6 turns. Once the cap is off, its easy peezy.

I don't like the icebear fuel valve. It is too high up and causes fuel starvation because the bike is gravity fed. My Icebear was dying in traffic because of that valve. Tried adjusting the carb to no avail. I got a carb with the fuel shutoff valve on the carb and that cured that problem.

You can pull that black plug on the carb and access the air mix screw.

Stock carb is 19mm ..... too small. You need at least 22mm.. buy one for atc125.... it has built-in fuel filter screen that is removable for cleaning. It also has built-in petcock. Reverse petcock after installing.... just two screws so fuel lines are shorter and lower going back to gas tank.... replace junk chain and put 17t counter sprocket on.

@@johnc5023 if you’re interested, I’ve got a series of videos on my channel, where I compare a new Icebear Champion to an Amigo Rocky. From uncrating to riding. The stock carb isn’t bad, once adjusted properly. Mine actually rode pretty nice. I went thru a series of changes and eventually landed on a Nibbi 22mm. I also don’t think the chain is that bad. Once I fixed the swingarm slop, my chain has not needed to be adjusted.

Great series and tips. Did these mods to mine with your stuff and it worked just as you described.

So, is it safe to say that the ice bear is probably the best bet on a clone? Any others i should consider? Looking for a platform to mod for looks and performance. Not necessarily to look exactly like a Honda, but too my liking

The Icebear is definitely the best for availability! You can order one right to your door from a number of dealers in the USA. We wouldn't say it has the best quality of all the clones though. We used to sell a bike called a Skyteam Sky Maxx that had better finishes, every once in a while one will pop up used.

Any chance you can post up (maybe on your website even) a list of the parts your using in this series along with links? For instance, I went to your website looking for the carb and found several, but couldn't tell which one you used here. Is it the one listed as XXX thru 125cc?

Yes! All of the parts we used we have in our Icebear section of the website: mytrailbuddystore.com/icebear.aspx
We'll also list the parts used in the detail section of the video.
