What an awesome video - super fun! . I think Cap made an astute observation about the RedFor guys being used to crappy missiles - you can really see it when Amraam/HMCS guys dip their toes into the Cold War servers and underestimate the ability of veteran MiG-21 drivers to get in close and knife-fight despite having a potato-tier RWR.
You guys should do a bracket tournament of the top 8-12 planes and BVR and see what planes comes out on top, then another same format but did fight. This video was awesome.
These dogfights can get insanely intense to watch! Really enjoyed this 'historical' dogfights through the ages. Damn Elden Ring for sucking in my gametime, I'm looking at my HOTAS in guilt right now, I really should be practicing, but I'll have to let the Grim Reapers supply me my DCS fix for now. Thanks for doing so!

I don't know how DCS modeled the mig-25 but it wasn't a dogfighter. It was limited to 3.5 g's.

@@cherryperoxide it's been long enough that I don't remember when or where I read that number but the mig-25 was designed for high altitude and high speed. Not turning and burning. The last mig-25 that was shot down was over Israel at 100,000 feet with a Hawk missile.

I wish they would add the F-106 Delta Dart. I would pay full price for that module. It was incredibly ahead of its time and could be remote piloted after takeoff by ground control and the fastest jet at the time. Delta wing and an internal weapons bays that could launch its weapons - the first air to air guided missiles. Introduced in 1959.

WhatsHaplo'ing I remember as a young kid outside playing and suddenly being jolted by the sharp sonic booms of 106s in mid Michigan in the early 60s. You never saw them but sure heard and felt them!

The Mig 15 is a really good module tbh. High quality, simple systems and the biggest aircraft gun in DCS. The Museum Relic campaign is real good too!

I have to agree. I think something was wrong with the SU-57 in that last fight. Also you called Fox-2 the first time and fired an AMRAM by mistake (which happens when you fly 5+ planes back to back.) Had that been the 9X the pilot would have taken it to the face and been dead. But like you said at the beginning it was all for a bit of fun, and I had fun watching it. Which is all that really matters. Great fun video. I hope you guys enjoyed doing the stuff as much as I enjoyed watching it.

It seems terrible to have a good MiG 21 and F5, but not a good F4. the F4 has seen soooo much more use.
BUT... it only had a minor role in Top Gun.
For The 70's would have been cool af if you added additionally The F-111 Aardvark and MIG-27K! And 2000's additionally F-15EX and SU-35! Oh and 50's additionally F4U Corsair! ;)

The F-5's AIM-9P5 is definitely NOT a 1960's missile. All aspect sidewinders werent a thing until 1977 with the AIM-9L.

Ahhhh, I can see the immediate problem with the mig 15 @10:22; The pilots were not supplied with heads. Explains the kill ratio over Korea right there.
If English Electric Lightnings are in the game I would love to see a simulated Soviet bomber attack on a V-Bomber base with the Lightnings and Bloodhounds protecting the base
This episode gave me another idea for a video. How about a multi timeline squadron dogfight or battle of sort. A mixture of craft from all generations on each faction. Wonder who would come out on top. 🤔

From what I know (read) the Mig could climb faster and go higher and even turn sharper, but in battles the F-86 ended up with a higher kill ratio... so to me, that means better pilots .. ?

Yeah, north korean pilots weren't exactly the sharpest tools for the MiG.
Fresh North Korean and Chinese pilots vs veteran allied pilots including several aces from ww2. The veteran soviet pilots had a decent kill ratio against the allies and many kill counts use Sabre vs MiG losses forgetting that MiGs shot down several bombers, attack aircraft and other fighters both piston and jet powered not just Sabres, and so they were also downed by other planes too
The F86 also had a range adjusting gun sight.
The russians swcreted experienced pilots down that flew too. One sabre advantage was the cockpit was pressurized. The mig would fog up and cause visiblity issues. As mentioned gsuits helped with Hugh g maneuvers as well.

Early Sidewinders should rather be called "WideSenders" since "missing wide" (when sent) seems to be their thing.
The F.1 damage model needs some work I think. Have seen some ludicrously shot up planes still perfectly airworthy.

True! The soviets didn't have a good Air-to-Air Missile until they captured a Sidewinder on an incident involving Taiwanese Sabres and Chinese MiGs. Their first AAM was a copy of that sidewinder, the K-13

They dont even have accurate models of fifth gen fighters yet lol. I think we will see sixth gen accurately modeled in game in about twenty years. Around the time the advertised version of Star Citizen is finally released. .

You blokes need to run few rounds of the most common type of fighters of each era for a more accurate outcome. Just me thinking here. ^_=
/Pedant mode on. These weren't all "BVR Aerial Fights". The F-86/MiG-15 and MiG-21/F-5 fights were all WVR only. The first BVR engagement was actually the Tomcats vs the MiG-25s. Loved the concept of this video and would welcome more like it. But maybe just label it "Jet Aircraft Fights Through the Decades". /Pedant mode off.

The problem with including the Su-57 is that it's not in wide manufacture. There's like a dozen of them made, and they're almost all significantly different from one plane to the next because they're all essentially prototypes. The F22 and F35 are in active service, in the score and even hundreds, across multiple air forces around the world. The F22 and F35 are the real deal, while the Su-57 is a pipe dream.
The biggest problem is the mod is dodgy as fuck.
The Su-57 is in active service so it's completely fine to include it.

Where o where do you get the Raptor?? I DL the F35 mod but it wont let me fly it no mater what I do, and the Felon handles like hell and goes into overG blackout spin in level flight or is so sluggish to controls its impossible to keep airborne. Is the F22 a free mod or paid?
After watching so many GR clips and seeing the cockpits of different fighters, I will say this: Russian fighter jet designers pay no attention to pilot ergonomics at all.

If those were humans in those Mig 25's and not AI it would have been much easier for the Tomcats. You know how horrible the SA is in that beast. Visibility is for shit and it turns like a cruise ship at low level. Plus the Blue's were robbed several times. That Phoenix going to the moon when it was a very high probability shot was one, the other was the AI knows all, even if the radar can't see them, the computer still knows where everything is. The only way to make it fair is to drop the skill level of the AI to Rookie. Then it will act like a normal human to a degree
