Hellfires can be targeted on enemy tanks, up to 5 miles. So why fly into their fire range? And maintaining the chopper is paramount to targeting accuracy. Why that one Apache was killing the side of the road, with Hellfires, but did nothing to the tanks. AA got him I believe. "NOE," means everyone hugs the deck. Less than 1000 feet if possible. So flying 'straight and level,' so that you're high enough to clear hilltops, is not NOE. Some good hits on AA radars and such.'
The problem with waiting on incoming arty is that Israel survival depends on them setting all the conditions for the fight. They always have aircraft up and they fully know what's going on with their neighborhood
Hey loved the video but it was unrealistic with the planes that are used im in the IDF myself, your missing the F18 and the F35, all the planes should also get the python 5 as there aam it only makes scene. the Mirage is not used anymore as well. when it comes to air defense you only had the patriot, in reality the 3 layer system aka Iron dome/beam Arrow and David Sling would have made the situation extremely different. Cap, Would it be a good idea, for example, for Sockington to teach others in GR how to get the best out of the Helicopters? Or other aircraft he is very good with. One on one lessons, then others who are considered 'skilled' do the same with other aircraft. This could be tactics, how to get one's missiles to actually hit the targets, best ways to avoid being taken out by enemy missiles, ground fire and so on. I'm sure most would consider this a help, to be better, rather than struggle as we sometimes see. Not dissing the GR's, but imagine if most were equally skilled, in a good way.
How about the gamemaster is setting the scenario but if players are playing defenders they not only have fog of War but also just get briefed by the gamemaster when defenders got the intel (by radar/AVAC or else)?... meaning mid air. Because if defenders already do know position, size and strengh of attackers it is not very realistic... because then they probably they had done a preventive strike in the first place. ... just a thought
Nice mission. Cap once you said you got hit and still flying. I wanted to yell watch your fuel gauge. As much as I love flying the Viper that was always my issue with it. Even when the plane came in to service when I was a child. That it's a flying fuel tank. The fuel is stored all over that plane, completely surrounding the engine, the wings and tail fin. So, every time you looked down to the right I was watching that needle drop. By the way great landing.

I’d retry it going preemptive with a massive SEAD and CAP presence combine with a preemptive JSOW or LRCM attack versus the nukes. Also. Maybe incorporate the new AGM-88 for fun. That’s probably closer to how it would start given the way Israel operates and would be a fun video.
Israel put up all but 8 of their jets to bombing the other countries, the ground crews played one of the most crucial roles as they had trained so hard and so long they could fully re-arm and refuel a jet in under 8 minutes. So they would land get reloaded and take off again in record time. It was akin to having twice as many planes in my view!! Plus they had been planning this for a long time and they were very very good at that as well!! Actually that was the 6 day war I was talking about oopps. But the ground crew statement still holds for this war too!!

Its a combination, the mission maker dictates what planes they need/want for a particular mission. Sometimes, say when a new module launches, special emphasis is put into making missions that fit that aircraft. We also try to have a relatively wide selection of aircraft when feasible due to different members collection and just variety.
All the main GR guys have all the aircraft available, it's all mission specific. But they also restrict what was available at the time frame of the mission. You would not see them using an F-35 in a Falkland War reenactment. They also restrict weapons. Many times you will see a Huey that's not allowed miniguns because the Huey of that time frame didn't have them, air-to-air missiles like the Sidewinder are restricted by models available, like the 9L is available but not the 9X. On the big public missions where everyone is invited to participate, it's more based on what modules each player has installed. Many have a Harrier and that's it (other than the default aircraft). I don't want to speak for Cap or the GR's, but I think they would agree on this.
No model of it in DCS and the mods that do exist aren't a good representation of the aircraft for various reasons. There's also a lack of realism with Israel not having Iron Dome or David's Sling but since they're not in game either there isn't a lot they can do.
We take pride in using the most realistic flight and system models there are and there is just not enough intel released to develop a full fidelity f-35

We also pay for a significant percentage of Ukraine's defense budget, for the same reasons. Personally, I'm glad to see my tax dollars going to help friends defend themselves. Rarely is it better spent.
