    I'm having a lot of trouble deciding between TN, VA and IPS for my next monitor. I have a TN now and I would like to get better colors and viewing angles but I don't want to compromise on too much performance as I mostly use my monitor for fast paced gaming.
    The MSI MAG272CQR and LG 27GL850 are at the top of my list right now but there is no real way for me to know how they perform until I buy one.

    Hi Jarrod, I have the possibility to buy either the MAG272CQR or the MAG271CQR at the same exact price(350gbp). The usage would be in order Gaming>office>multimedia. I’m looking into getting a new gaming laptop soon but I’m stuck on whether I should get the Eluktronics Mag15 or the ASUS G14 😭 The g14 'should' be better considering it’s newer, but when I saw the reviews you made I noticed that the mag15 is 144hz and the g14 is 120hz. I also noticed in the g14 benchmarks that the gaming performance was higher on the mag15 on numerous gaming titles. Is there a reason why I should still consider the g14 over the mag15? (or vice versa)

    • @JarrodsTech

    • @JarrodsTech

    • @williaamlarsson
      @williaamlarsson 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is pixel density and screen scaling. At 1440p or 4k the pixles are so small that you need to upscale the graphical interface, otherwise text and icons would be tiny. That however has it's drawbacks as well, which is why 1080p is still the norm.
      Also because battery life takes a huge hit.

    • @vibechecked445

      The don't do 1440p on laptops as some laptops cannot handle 1440p 144hz and/or laptop makers would go for 4k 60 as there aren't a lot if any 1440p 144hz laptop panels in production.

    I'm actually moments away from buying this monitor. I want to use it for my ps4. Not ps4 pro. I'm really hasitating about 4k or 2k and higher refreshrate as I don't want to spend €1000 for a 4k monitor with high refreshrate.
    I already have the msi mag27 monitor 1080p. Will the upgrade be worth it?
    I know this one has hdr and mine doesn't. And it's higher resolution of course.
    Edit: I'm kinda upgrading because of the ps5. Hoping I can use the 165Hz for the new gen.

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I'm not sure about for PS4, don't think it can do 1440p high refresh but I don't know much about console, I'd expect next gen to support better, could be more worthwhile there but you'd need to look into what resolution/refresh rates it's going to support as I'm not sure.

      @@JarrodsTech damn. Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah ps4 doesn't support higher fps. But I was hoping for the ps5 to get a higher fps. Nonetheless I already bought it. I sometimes connect my macbook to it as well so I have a bigger screen.
      But yeah, hopefully for the next gen console there's a future haha. I know all the advantages of gaming on pc but I can't get used to that. Just give me my controller haha.
      Thanks again for the reply :)
      Edit again: thanks to your review I made the final desicion to buy it. I really like my msi monitor right now. This is just a slight upgrade. Just smoother and better resolution :)

      I’m in the same boat with a ps4 slim what monitor should I buy since ps4 slim in my knowledge can only play 1080p
      What’s would you say is the best call for a gaming monitor

    • @jinvictus8841
      @jinvictus8841 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ryanahmadkani7372 If image quality is your main thing then go with a 4k for sure. I wanted performance and smoothness. Which I can't get with my ps4 but it's kinda focused for the next gen. Which will come this year maybe. So if you want to invest in a good monitor then yeah I think this one will be a great choice without a doubt. I don't think there are many better options than this. It's like a lot of brands advertising the same kinda product. Just a different design.
      If you have a big budget then go with the 4k with 144hz and 1ms response time.
      There's no way a console will run 4k at 144hz. So that'll be 60hz. Maybe the ps6 or ps7 in that time.
      I'm already very pleased with the msi monitor I have right now. But it produces 1080p. Which is kinda a bit of a downside for a 27inch screen (i think i have 27inch or maybe 24inch).
      I'm not sure what monitor or tv you're playing on right now but if you had a 6 year old samsung tv like me than everything is an upgrade :).
      Look up the BenQ monitor as well. It runs 4k and 1ms response time. HDR. And is very cheap in comparison.
      But again, depends if you want smooth images or just quality of the image. I think 1440p with 144hz or 165hz is the sweetspot :). 4k isn't really noticeable I think unless you look very closely. I took the gamble and I think 1440p will do great. Especially if I'm okay with 1080p right now. It's again a upgrade.
      Sorry if I kinda went everywhere with this comment but hopefully it answers your question.
      In the end you just have to decide buddy :). There are too many options and I don't think there's a bad one

    I think this monitor was kind of a betrayal of the customer by MSI. A quick cash-in with something seemingly "cutting edge" and new, at a "reasonable" (not cheap) price, apparently fast and fluid and with good image quality. Then it was slow as heck, like something ancient (and the image quality was hardly worth mentioning). Luckily I decided to send it back after playtests against my old (2013) and even another non-gaming (image editing) monitor. (I bet many "kids" were stuck with it, either because they had to or weren't sure how to judge it.) But then the next year or thereafter they finally brought out something "modern" that is not a straight-up betrayal, it seems. However they betrayed everyone in that year.
