You have surpassed my expectations finding the songs. I've had a little problem finding songs with moon in the title from my records but I'm not quitting 😊
The very first thing I thought of when this video first started was all the Max Webster Moon songs......and how much I love all of them. I'm an enormous Webster fan....I can honestly say they are one of my all time favourite bands. They were an enormous part of my youth.
Max played my high school one year. That was awesome! I only saw them once, but I have seen Kim solo a number of times. He played some old Max songs each time, which was awesome.
I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. Orange juice with extra pulp is a great way to get the job done. I didn't know many of those titles. Adrian Belew was the only album I owned.
“The coughing has subsided”…That Adrian Belew cover is cool. My condolences for the loss of your friend Brian. Space 1999! I have a copy of Pandemonium on compact disc from when it was first released. It’s awesome! ✌️
Well, I thought that the coughing has subsided, but it was merely a lull. Damn. I hope I survive. Maybe it is Covid once again 😔 I loved Space 1999 and Star Trek, of course 👽🚀 Not everyone in our house agrees on Star Trek, though. . .
Well done with your choices. Very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Kudos for referencing Space 1999. I now put your age at minimum 58. Have a great day.
Hope your cold will be completely gone very soon. This is a fun thread! I was actually thinking of moon album covers until you said it should be songs about the moon. I'll think about this one. I like your sad story for the Belew song, sad though it was. Beyond the Moon was a song I didn't latch onto until someone said it was his favourite track on the album. I listened again after that and realized it's brilliance.
@@EmbryonicRobot I thought of five almost right away. Then I thought one cover, one band, one album title, one song, and one musician. The musician of course was Keith Moon.
Good morning Brian, yes the strategy is a “Steps Strategy”, morning, noon and night, morning posted today 😅… Great picks for thread, just might pop in on this one 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
@@EmbryonicRobot Could not agree more! You'd think maybe all those times they opened for Rush would've helped. But I guess it just shows that most people don't pay attention to opening acts no matter how good they are. Cheers
Nicely done, Brian. I saw Adrian Belew last year when he was on tour with Jerry Harrison. Amazing. Space 1999-yowsah! I like this thread and will get something out there. My condolences as well.
Hello my friend thank you so much for taking part in this thread much appreciated! I paused your video on several occasions to go listen to Adrian Belew interesting choice of an allbum cover and I hope it was photoshopped for the sake of his safety. I also listened to El Vy and Killing Joke. All of which I liked and will listen to more of your choices. Thank you for your support over the years and as of late and more importantly your friendship. My condolences on the loss of your friend. Glad you're starting to feel better! Best, Steve
Hi Steve - I was over the moon with this thread idea because a thread idea this good only comes by once in a blue moon. It eclipsed all expectations and I couldn't see any dark side to it.
Was not expecting a Space 1999 reference. Nice! Max Webster - just when you thought you had them pegged as a moon band....Those were some cool records. I don't think I have ever seen any of them before. Good response to this thread!
I loved Space 1999. In fact, I have been thinking that I should re-watch it, but there are way too many other great shows that I have never seen. I need more time, and time is just going faster and faster 😔
@@EmbryonicRobot Abhijit Naskar, the author of “Love, God & Neurons: Memoir of a scientist who found himself by getting lost,” said, “Time is basically an illusion created by the mind to aid in our sense of temporal presence in the vast ocean of space. Without the neurons to create a virtual perception of the past and the future based on all our experiences, there is no actual existence of the past and the future. All that there is, is the present.” So really you should re-watch if that's what you want to do. I know you'll make the right decision.
Orange juice and water 😮 hahaha I'm t-total so that would be my remedy..... or not 😂 Good moon picks especially Man on the Moon 🙏🏻 I think we should go to the darkside of the moon next time if not just to see if there's any WWII Germans up there 🧐😆
Nice picks. I have troubles to remember moon -songs (or kuu in finnish). But one of my favorite finnish disco tracks is "Syy täysikuun" (Because of the Full moon). Also one finnish evergreen is "Täysikuu"(Full moon) and there is countless versions of the song from schlager and tango to disco. I also have several albums by Electric Moon, but do they have track about moon?
There he is, DJ Brian. Whiskey is great, but I have no problem with OJ either, both work wonders with any ailment. I was debating mashing the Beards thread with this Moon thread, and with the beard albums I showed, I was almost able to find enough moon songs on them to do that, but, alas, I'll have to do the Moon thread separately and not be so lazy. But I do find it interesting that so many bearded musicians write about the moon, maybe it has some werewolf ties.... Trivia question: What movie does this dialog come from: "Werewolf." "There wolf. There castle." "Why are you talking like that?" "Because I thought you wanted to" But I digress....great moon picks!
DJ Brian! Maybe in my retirement. Beards and moons made me think about werewolves, so you are right; there must be a tie in. But, I can't think of a single record cover with a werewolf, though there is that one song that everyone knows. Trivia: Young Frankenstein? 🌭+🍺
@@EmbryonicRobot Yes I figured that movie question was going to be easy, but I just love that bit they do and I can never talk about werewolves without thinking of that dialog. Anyway, there is another "werewolf" song you probably haven't heard and it is "Wolfman's Brother" by Phish. I can't think of any werewolf covers off the top of my head either, but there is a cool album cover with a wolf on it by Ulver on the album "Natten's Madrigal" that comes from their early black metal albums. The album itself is very lo-fi and noisy, recorded out of doors, and very difficult to listen to, but the cover is still really cool.
@@EmbryonicRobot Just curious now...I assume you were talking about "Werewolves of London". There is another one you might be interested in this Halloween season called "Werewolf" by Five Man Electrical Band. Kind of corny but in a good way.
Brian, thanks for summoning up some positive energy despite the loss of a friend and suffering from a nagging cold. I enjoyed your ''offbeat'' selections, there must be 20, 000 songs that feature the moon as a lyric, a theme, or as a title. I think Adrian Belew's finest work was on The Talking Heads album, '' Remain In Light''. Belew's vocals on King Crimson's '' Discipline'' are to me, a major distraction, the album would have been much better without his ''talking'' and singing. He should have obeyed his former employer, Frank Zappa- '' Shut Up And Play Your Guitar''. Warren Zevon's album with R.E.M. ( without vocalist, Michael Stipe) titled ''Hindu Love Gods'' is a fantastic collection of cover songs that have the freewheeling sound of friends jamming in another friend's basement or garage.
I have to admit that your feelings about Belew in Crimson are a surprise to me! He is my favourite KC vocalist and Discipline is my favourite KC album 🙂 I guess everyone likes different things. But, we do agree on one thing: I absolutely love "Remain In Light''. I have a CD copy of the 'Hindu Love Gods'' but I have to admit that I have no theard it in ages. I should do that soon 👍
This may be a record in that I know all five artists and have three of the songs. I still need to get some Max Webster. I guess if you have enough whiskey, you'll forget about your cold.
I am reminded of that incredible day when Jeff Witcher showed about 10 or 11 records and I owned them all. Nothing like that has ever happened since. I assumed that you might know the Zevon record at least. I will have to try whiskey tonight and report back!
He has the better idea, you have the smarter idea. My mom would give us bourbon mixed with honey or citrus for colds. Did you like Tin Men with Adrien Belew? Killing Joke was killing it (wink, wink) in the 90's. It gets overshadowed by their 80's output which is unfortunate. I'd like to go to the moon just to jump off of rocks and hills and stuff. Other than that, you can keep it. Cheers and get well my man!
In all honesty, bourbon with a cold is probably a great idea. I will try it next time. Adrian Belew is a fav of mine! I have a pretty extensive collection of his stuff. The funny thing is that I like Tin Machine way more now than I did back then. I suppose that happens sometimes. . .
