80lb + bow backyard shoot out- Starring the King Cobra, Safari, Wake, GX, and Full Throttle

- In this video I shoot several 80lb+ bows. I am shooting all the bows at 29 inches with bit less than 380ish grain arrow with the exception of the Wake at 28.5.

Just a funny observation...this is the Matthews Safari its there heaviest modelat 85 Lbs I shot a turkey with it...lol. Not what Matthews had in mind when designing it Id imagine...roflmao ! Thank u again..Cheers

One thing I hate about social media is that everyone comes off as an expert as you can see you pretty thorough with how you conduct your tests and yet someone comes along telling you how to do things better , anyhow keep the good vids coming my guy 💪🏿💯

I laughed a bit at that statement.
All your bows are really nice. But in a serious review, you must use a 5 grain per pound arrow at least (400 grain arrow for 80 pounds bow) , same draw weight in all bows, and same draw lenght. A little advice of using chrono, shoot horizontal through the chrony, will be more accurate. Thanks for the video mate.
Mathews Monster XLR8 80# 30" in my opinion is the fastest combination out there. Jeff Sliver has a beast of a bow!

They are very powerful and fast. Rough draw cycle but crazy fast. I shot 454gr arrow @ 343fps. 80# 30" draw. Bow maxes out around 85#.

I remember the original Mathews Safari from '05 or '06. That machine was 70 to 100 pound draw

Funny thing is that I just had a pole barn set up. Yep, I should have filmed those draws better back then. BTW - I have some footage of me in Africa with an 80lb Prime and the 85lb Safari on the Paul Korn Bowhunting channel....

Thank you for the real world videos!!! The APA King Cobra seems to run a tad long on the 29 - 30 draw lengths, as do some of the other bow models produced by some of the other manufactures. The APA Mamba 32 TF - apaarchery.com/product/mamba-32/ seems to run right on draw length and offers almost a 7 inch brace height at 358 FPS claimed IBO from APA. Even though the eccentrics on the Mamba 32 TF are the same as the King Cobra TF...the valley of the Mamba 32 TF feels bigger to me. I wonder how the APA Mamba 32 TF would feel to you with the dual cams creep tuned and the chronograph speeds that it would produce? Love your PSE Frankenbow and all of your informative videos!

I would like to try it! I have an 80lb Xpedite that I need to have more love for these days. I have the King Cobra at 94lbs, I only keep it for ego, I don't really like shooting it. Some the extra features of APA are a little gimmick. But I like that they are really different from the main stream bows.
I have a 32 inch draw length. Would you have a shop twist the cables on a safari to make it 31.5 inches or would you go to another bow manufacturer?
They run a little a so a good chance it already lose 31.5 Inches. I have friend that shoots one who has a 32 inch draw length. I like my Safari a lot for what it is majestic bow. But newer bows probably have nicer draw cycles and harder back walls.

did you enjoy pulling on the King Cobra or the Matthew bettet? was the king cobra back wall comfortable to maintain for long periods of time (like 30 to 60 sec.)? I'm interested in the King Cobra at 80 lbs but if their something better i would like to know
I think the Wake is easiest to shoot and easiest to hold 80lb bow, that and my 80lb Defcon 6. The Safari I like for other reasons. The King Cobra TF has a better valley than the full throttle, but it definitely has a speed bow feel. So enjoyable to shoot for me it is the Wake.
What's the price difference new/used? Do you think the king cobra is worth it?
I think depends, my 90lb King Cobra if you have not seen the newer vid, is more bragging rights....
probably $200 or $300 cheaper than new
Which one feels better? Which one is the most silent? Which one has a better valley? And Im Just wondering about the 2 winners would love to buy the one that feels the best because speed is so close
+harrison james - Hand down the Wake is best pulling and probably quietest. I think the Cobra at 80lbs was the hardest to shoot because of the short valley. If I had to sell them all off the Safari would be the last to go as it is my favorite. But if I had to hunting tomorrow based on draw alone, I would grab the Wake. The GX is actually a solid bow, just not in current production.

I love and have no problems just want a 80lb speed/power house bow! my No Cam HTR shoots a 405 grain arrow at 285 fps at 70 lb @ 77 pounds of enegry and i watn something in the 100 ft-lb
My HTR is great when it is cold and I don't feel like pulling a speed bow. You might also think about an Obsession Defcon 6 at 80lbs, that would be on my wish list if I was considering another one.... I am seeing used 80lb Wakes for a lot less than MRSP

Which one you think is better, the halon or the wake?
tough one actually, Wake draw cycle I like as much or more, but a little too much metal to want carry all of the time in the woods, and Halon is perfect size in the blind, but I still wish it was slight longer ATA.
I vote Wake. Everyone says the Wake is such a heavy bow, and it's heavy, sure, but compared to the Halon it's something like 12-14 ounces heavier. I can't even tell when shooting. Started shooting it, two weeks later I had forgotten it was heaver. It draws smoother and holds better. The Halon is a great compact bow, to be sure, but shooting beyond 50yards the Wake out-shoots it, in my experience. I've shot x's with both of them at 60 and beyond, but get a whole lot more of them with the Wake. They're both tough as nails. I prefer longer ATA bows despite not being a big guy . . . I seldom own anything shorter than 33".

TeKz MoRoNi 350 on the carbon express, however I prefer shoot 300 fmj dangerous games for my 80lb bows
thanks because i just got a pro defiant 80lbs and i have a set of carbon express maxima blues 350s from my old bow and i can't figure out that arrow chart! lol and i really can't afford a new set yet so if you are shooting 350s ill have a go cheers!

Bear Motive it's the fastest bow.
Bear Motive was a really fast bow, but IBO is rated at 350FPS, while the Full Throttle is at 370FPS

+Joren Littlefield - I also own 60lb bows, and 70lbs bows too. Summer and early season I will hunt with 80lbs, then move down to more reasonable bows. So the reason I own one is probably similar to owning a muscle car with huge horse power more of a cool feeling than need. The reason why I own so many is that I am obsessed nut!
