Removing the pin and weld is an option. I have a BCM 14.5 and took it to my gunsmith to remove the factory pin and weld muzzle device. I had it replaced with a new pin and weld SF closed tine flash hider.
@@defencivsolutions Not a lot of work, honestly. Not barrel cut. He used a dremel tool on the muzzle device, where the pin and weld is, being careful enough not to damage the threads. I don’t recall how much I was charged I had it done about 2yrs ago
16in barrel with acog, backup irons, sling and surefire light is my go to, with this setup i can do anything from inside of buildings or out to 500 yards
can you take it down and conceal it in an attache case? is it HANDY with a truly effective silencer on it? have you GOT such a silencer? Got a 22lr conversion unit for dogs, men, hogs, deer to 50m, at night., BB gun quiet, due to using the 60 gr Aquila 22 subsonic ammoo? got night sights? Can you even SEE a camoed man, holding still at 500 yds, I doubt it. got a trigger job? if not, it sucks. Can you start in Rhodesian ready, react to the beep of a timer, shoulder the rifle and reliably hit a 12"x24" mark at 50m in sub 1.2 seconds?

@@Joseph_HamiltonThe CMMG .22LR conversion kit is very legit and worth a look. Very reliable and an easy BCG and magazine swap. Just don’t use your nice centerfire rifle suppressor with it because cleaning would be impossible.
Being a long time hunter & seeing lpvo take off is something I love but a redot or irons is needed. A simple lil bump can throw any lpvo or scope off especially budget options. The amount of times I’ve knock scopes off getting it into a stand or just walking into the woods is crazy. Now companies have gotten better but still scares me. I’ve never nocked a dot off.
I built a 13.7. After that I decided that I'll only go with 16" for anything else. I love my 13.7. It runs like a dream and if I replaced the barrel it would be with another 13.7 or 13.9, but I would put a non adjustable gas block on it. But I won't make another rifle that needs to be p&w in case I need to service it. If you can't remove that p&w your not just replacing the barrel. It's rail, muzzle device, gas block and tube also. But 16" with lpvo is great for the distance of 5.56 cart and never have to worry about legalities of less than 16"
Great points, just to add something. You don't have to be hurt to need to operate your rifle with either hand. Sometimes a simple barrier like a stairwell makes it a much better idea to switch shoulders and hands and those ambi controls better be there (as well as hours of training on your other side).
Agreed! I would prefer not to if I had the choice simply because of the difference in proficiency. Its like trying to learn to write with your other hand. Possible, but just takes time and you'll never feel *as* comfortable as you do with your primary hand
My go to is a 14.5 BCM ELW mid length upper with a war comp pinned, FCD NP3 BCG, LPFA, TA02 led acog. Samson stubby vertical grip. Surefire M600DF W/ one hundred concepts cap. LMT MARS lower. B5 sopmod stock and B5 grip. Samson cleaning rod in the stock with lube and bore brush in the grip. Spare batteries in the other stock tube (two CR123, one AA), Ferro slingster. FCD mag release button with the +power spring so less likely to dump mags on gear. Especially important with the ambi mag release on the MARS. Things I still need to add: a Holosun 507 to piggyback on the Acog, TK4 tourniquet pouch on the sling, eventually a FP PEQ. Maybe a lighter QD mount for the Acog like the MI one lever. And way done the line a Surefire RC2 would make it about perfect.
Dude, cleaning rod and bore brush stashed on the rifle is a great idea. Now I'm thinking about changing my Magpul SL stock to the SL-S version so I can do the same thing. Thanks for the ideas! I would recommend you pickup the Samson rod while you still can they seem to only be in stock on their website so not sure how long they’ll be making them. The only other one I’ve seen that fits in stock tubes is the FCD CSR but it’s over twice the price of the Samson SopRod
I’m considering a prism optic like a primary arms 5x. I have an lpvo and they are very nice but I always worry about whether it would withstand being dropped if that ever happened. Other than that training is the next high priority.
It’s possible but I also think prisms could be damaged if dropped. But unless you plan on yeeting your rifle all the time, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Go with the option that you can shoot better

If you use an 11.5 you need a standard length can for proper signature reduction. With a 14.5 you can use a short can like an rc2 mini and have more than enough signature reduction even at night. And the total difference will only be 1.5inches!! With so much more of a capable gun!

Mine is a 14.7 LWRC A5 it’s fully ambidextrous from the factory. with an eotech exps3-4 and a G45 magnifier. I can hit 8” plates out to 500yards easily. I had a razor gen 3 1-10 but the eotech works better for me. I use the surefire dual fuel turbo which shines well out to 200 yards. I have a full power peq and a saker 556k suppressor. It’s my one go to rifle after building and using a dozen different configurations.
I don’t think I’d sacrifice less ballistic performance, and pay the $200 tax stamp to make it an SBR, just to shave less than 2 inches off the overall length. 16” is fine for CQB, perhaps not ideal, but I’ll take the better ballistics if the idea for the rifle is more of a true SHTF rifle.

I would also lose the script or use it as a reference point rather than reading directly from it. I think your channel has a ton of potential! I get it, and maybe you actually run your gun- but a 16 inch rifle with a 6+ inch suppressor is usually a determining factor in barrel length because it takes a physical toll with the extra weight and length.

You seem new to the game so that’s fair.. but you don’t run through a house doing CQB with your light on the whole time. You flash it as needed to see your specific area or target and then disengage the light. It would be very easy for an enemy to track your movement with how you’re doing it

In a true SHTF scenario, NFA barrel length requirements are the last thing I’d be worried about. The 14.5 P/W is a dumb choice. Either run a 16” or drop down to something noticeably shorter. The 14.5 P/W is ridiculously stupid for civilians.

It's just a versatile build, centered around the capabilities I need it for in my use case and with unpredictability in mind, especially as a civilian. I don't have a "mission set" to tailor my gear for, so I make it as versatile as possible. For my most likely use cases, it does actually "do it all". i always go back and forth on 16" vs 14.5".. either one is fine really, but and 16" has some practicality to it, but just love me a 14.5"

Agreed, red dots are definitely more durable and sturdy. I’m running an EOTech and magnifier on my other rifle and it’s awesome
If your scopes lose zero from bumping into something, then you are buying shitty scopes and mounts. You can go budget without getting garbage.

That strike eagle FFP is severely underrated. You cannot get a better FFP for the price. I have seen it in sale for 400 before.
