      No I don't think so. There's no evidence of that. And it seems deliberate that Toriyama uses diverging timelines instead of altering. And that he made cell create a divergent one.
      It's all in the text that acknowledges all this. And even acknowledges that Cell doesn't know why ect.
      It's definitely convenient for Toriyama but it's also on purpose.

      The MULTIVERSE theory.
      I have always believed that the world that CELL and Trunks come from are actually other versions of Earth that exist in the MULTIVERSE, and that there really are more than 18 Universes.
      That the Earth of Trunks was the main one but when traveling to the past, I create a new Earth, I also believe that the Earth of CELL is a simple variation of the Earth of Trunks,Possibly that version of Trunks discovered the controls of the androids and destroyed them, in a nutshell he was a little smarter After destroying them, he decided to go to the past to a date that will not alter the timeline too much... a date in which there was no one and following his mother's original idea Kill the androids while they were disabled...

      Think of it this way…. A teenage trunks grows up in a reality where goku died from the heart virus and watches his friends die from androids. After about 20 years of this he decides “hey I’ll go back in time and give goku heart medication” he creates “fixed timeline1” once he’s done that, he then goes back to his home timeline to disable androids 17&18 with a remote. After he kills them he plans to return to the “fixed timeline1” but is instead then killed by cell. (Original cell from bad timeline 1)..Then cell says “I’m gonna travel back in time but I’m gonna go back 1 extra year than when trunks traveled to”. When he does this however he creates 2 whole new timelines (because he didn’t go back to the exact same reality trunks went to). He makes 1 new “original/bad timeline” and 1 New “fixed timeline” (this is a result of him making a whole new future trunks who would travel to our timeline to give our goku heart medication) Once he arrived at his destination (the main timeline/our timeline) he buries himself underground for 4 years to let things play out (let future trunks show up/ let androids 17&18 awaken) when all of these events take place he wakes up from his hibernation and becomes the main villain of the “cell saga” of our timeline that we all know and love…… in summary there are 4 total timelines involved… the “bad timeline 1”, “fixed timeline 1” … as well as “bad timeline 2” and “fixed timeline 2”(the 2 timelines cell created) ….
      Pause your screen on 1:26 … look at the way he has the timelines drawn out and then read back the story in this comment. I hope this was a good explanation

      Also I want to explain to you why he’s talking about an “unseen timeline” in short as you now know from my explanation, one of the 4 timelines looked exactly like ours. (Where goku gets medication and fights androids. Only in that reality there was no cell.) the “unseen timeline” is where the android 13 movie takes place. @@91Definite Trunks probably killed Cell unknowingly while he was in his chamber in the unseen timeline. Trunks had to go there to get the blueprints to build the shutdown device. Trunks would have just blown up the lab as he did in the dbz anime with Krillen. I assume the Z fighters were able to defeat Android 17 and 18 with the shutdown device or maybe a combination of fighting as well. That's why we don't see 17 and 18 in the movie but the characters are not surprised to see Androids. Gohan also looks very young and can't transform into a super Saiyan that's because he never went into a hyperbolic time chamber because, in the unseen timeline, they don't have to deal with Cell.

    This is the best logical explanation as in why Trunks would go back a year earlier after he used the device to destroy both androids. Remember when Dr Gero pointed the device to attempt to destroy 17 but end up failing. Here's how the story would go. A whole struggle would have to occur just to press the button on the device. Trunks appear again in front of the androids, he points the device to 17 and presses the button thus destroying him instantly. 18 sees this decides to attack trunks to get the device off of his hands. A whole struggle happens here just to get control of the device, finally trunks is able to gain control over the device and press the button immediately to end 18. Trunks realized he was lucky to press the button to defeat the androids. After being traumatized from this incident, he rather go back in time a year before to destroy the androids 17 and 18 before activating.

      this
      even possible someone died like her mother, or grand parents, or just someone that dears to him or his family was hurt badly, that Trunks decided a redo one more time
      i also have this theory that time travel is punishable by death, by fate, like Trunks travelled back to the past and got killed by Cell, then this Cell goes back in time too and managed to be perfect but still dies, then the Trunks from future that helped in the tournament almost dies as well

  • @zerocks88

    OK so my head cannon has always been that Cell said "I just pressed a button, the machine did the rest"
    he has no idea what he did, he doesn't understand the time machine, there's no reason Trunks would go back a further year knowing it'd just create another timeline where things could 'go right" or "go wrong", so I think he didn't. I think Cell just pressed a bunch of buttons and it happened to bring him back a year earlier, its a better explanation than I've heard so far

      It’s because when Cell went back before trunks, trunks basically still did what he did, but bc cell went back before, the “changes” is what diverged the timelines to create the history of trunks bc a new timeline was still bound to be created from trunks but would be separate bc of cell

    • @codesm96
      @codesm96 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Original timeline Trunks was the only one who travelled back to the unseen timeline, Cell did not travel back because he went further behind in time and created the main and history of Trunks timelines instead. The reason Trunks travelled back to unseen timeline was because Z-fighters were murdered by the androids in the OG timeline, same as History of Trunks timeline. Trunks likely blew up the lab killing fetus Cell in the unseen timeline as with the main timeline without knowing what Cell actually was, but seeing him develop in the lab was a risk too big to take to leave alone, main timeline they knew what that fetus was because they already encountered Cell who gave Piccolo all the info needed. Because Cell had finally matured by the time Trunks had arrived back from the unseen timeline to the OG timeline, in his very first appearance to any of the Z fighters he murdered Trunks and went back even further to the main timeline. Main timeline BOTH Trunks and Cell have travelled back, Cell split off a new timeline going back further but it did not change and only repeated Trunks going back at the same time he did in the unseen timeline, the only new addition was Cell, that 2nd Trunks that went back to Main timeline exactly like he did in unseen timeline IS the History of Trunks timeline being created along with main timeline. If it wasn't for cell arriving back to the main timeline from the original timeline by going one year further back, there would be NO History of Trunks timeline as well as the main timeline, both are intertwined, one could not be created without the other if that makes sense.

  • @Shiyoken
    @Shiyoken ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Not to sure if it's been explained in the video but the discrepancy I find confusing is that Trunks in the unseen timeline initially set out a point in time which could be either similar time frame to when HoT-Trunks arrived in our timeline or it could have been the one year before.
    Then Cell uses the time machine but for some reason, he branches off from the unseen timeline; past timeline and ends up in ours?
    So if the unseen timeline is the original one? Then Trunks creates another timeline going back (which we never see as far as we are concerned), which would mean there's 2. Then Cell goes back from the unseen and creates another timeline, which ends up being ours. But in ours, there exist a future timeline, a branch of ours; where by History of Trunks; Trunks comes in at any point after his original point in time.
    So it seems like if you go back 300 years or any point in time, you create a separate timeline but if you go back beyond THAT first point in time, you create an additional timeline? Atleast with the time machine, right?
    Qaaman do a video on if Cell remained in his imperfect state going from the unseen to ours. He cuts half of his torso to fit in the machine. He arrives in out timeline in-tack and then finds Gero at his lab. Gero mentions that 17/18 are complete but their programming requires more work but since Cell is here, he allows him to absorb the androids right here and now (let's say even in their cryo-condition, Cell can attain and ultilize them the same if they were awake etc... How fare would the Zfighters be?

      I'm trying to make sense of what you're saying. Cell never once went back to the Unseen timeline. Only Trunks did. That was set 3 years before the arrival of the androids in the Unseen timeline. When Trunks tried going back the machine was programmed to return even earlier, 4 years before the arrival of the androids, which is when Cell found Trunks, killed him and used the time machine to travel 4 years before the androids arrived. As the Time machine has been set further back before Trunks first visit to the past (unseen timeline 3 years before androids arrival), a new timeline was created. This new timeline is the Main timeline that we watched DBZ in because it is the only one where Cell returned back even further into the past (4 years instead of 3 years before androids arrival), that Cell ends up absorbing the androids. The reason why the unseen timeline is called unseen is because we never see a single thing that happens in this timeline at all but it definitely the one Trunks came back from and was going back to before Cell killed him, for some mistaken reason the time machine was set a year before the set date Trunks wanted to return to which ended up creating the Main timeline that Cell went back to. Hope we are on the same page...I think

    Only 2 timelines, Trunks timeline and Goku timeline, and they are like different dimensions. Timelines don't affect eachother but can be changed by time travel within themselves.
    - Trunks travel from Timelime 1 to Timeline 2, saves goku and goes back to T1
    -Trunks returns to T2 to help fight the androids
    -Goku and his group defeats the androids. Trunks gets stronger
    -Trunks return to T1 and kills the androids
    -Cell kills Trunks
    -Cell travel to the past of T2 (first instance of time travel within a timeline)
    -Cell mere presence change the events of the T2 to the ones we see on the show
    -Wouldn't that change Trunks story and in turn Cell's? No Timelines can't affect eachother, only time travel can change them.
    -Trunks arrives in T2 (as he should because T1 past remains unchanged)
    -Cells is eventually defeated
    -Trunks goes back to T1 (second instance of time travel within a timeline. The events of his previous return, including his dead, are erased)
    -he kills the androids and later Cell
    -Wouldn't that mean that Cell didn't travel to T2 so changing the events? No, because timelines don't affect eachother, only time travel within themselves can change them

    This was a dope video, I was always curious as to what would happen in the "unseen timeline". My personal take on it would be due to the androids being defeated by a device, cell and android 16 not being present, as well as the Z Fighters not going into "The room of spirit and time". In theory this would be the timeline where super android 13 takes place.

    I always figured Cell changed the date to be a year earlier so that he had time to regain his power in secret before the cyborgs appeared. Also if in the unseen timeline Trunks trained with his father like in the one we saw, he probably was strong enough to defeat the cyborgs on his own without a shutdown remote and lost to Cell because he was caught off guard.

    • @codesm96
      @codesm96 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I hear you but Qaaman was right to address this plothole. Cell specifically said the time machine was pre-programmed to go back into the past at a certain date and all he had to do was push the button. He never chose the time, if it was in error, only Trunks could have made that mistake and tbh there is absolutely no reason for Trunks to travel that far back since he already travelled to the past before in the Unseen timeline to warn of the androids. The only plausible explanation is either Trunks programmed the return date incorrectly and was going to adjust it when he went into the time machine or that Toriyama simply forgot this detail. If Cell never explicitly said that the time was pre-programmed and that he only needed to push the button to go to that time, what you said may be a plausible explanation. Also, there is no way in at all that Trunks could have EVER been killed by Cell EVEN if he was caught off guard if he trained in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. That simply is not possible, even if he didn't know a damn thing about Cell he would have sensed him out as best as he could. Cell was not powerful enough to kill Trunks after training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. The power gap between 1st form Cell and Trunks after training is unbelievable, that is why Trunks was more than powerful enough to disintegrate every single last cell of Cell when he destroyed him when he returned to the future in H.O.T timeline. The only plausible explanation for Trunks being killed the way he was in the Original timeline is the fact that they must have used a shutdown device on the Androids or it must have been someone else who directly fought the Androids and won before Trunks managed to obtain a shutdown device that would work in his own time, therefore Trunks never trained in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. It makes absolutely no sense how Trunks who is powerful enough to at least go toe to toe with Perfect Cell at least in terms of raw power could ever be killed by Imperfect Cell who could barely absorb any humans in the post apocalyptic world in the Original timeline, that Cell was even weak enough for Piccolo fused with Kami to beat and the androids together could beat Cell in that state. Cell got a lot stronger when he evaded Piccolo, Trunks and Krillin the entire time to absorb as many humans as possible, even that Cell who literally wrecked both Piccolo and 17 single handedly after absorbing so many people would have been killed by Trunks because the power difference is still too much.

In one of the movies we even see Goku in Super Saiyan Blue get shot in the chest with one of those wrist mounted energy blasters Freiza's men use; if that isn't proof of an amazingly weaker fighter managing to land a killing blow on an astronomically stronger enemy with a sneak attack, I don't know what is. Also while Trunks was stronger than Imperfect Cell, that was only in his Super Saiyan form; base Trunks would be far weaker and has no knowledge of Cell's abilities (he also never goes SS during their fight). For all we know Cell hit him with the Solar Flare and broke his neck, not flashy but effective.

      @@DarkcIoud1111. You are using head canon. It's not in anyway possible for Cell to kill Trunks if he trained in the HTC, not even remotely. Not even if Trunks didn't transform yet because he would have immediately and his base power is considerably higher as well after extensive training, not just his Super Saiyan form. Don't EVER use Super logic to explain events in Z because Super has far too many plotholes and retcons. Trunks after training in the HTC was powerful enough to fight Perfect Cell and rival his strength, even if he couldn't do jack with it due to his form limiting his movement and reducing his speed. Trunks was too powerful to be killed even off guard but Cell couldn't increase his power without Trunks sensing him and Trunks is so much faster and stronger than him and his other counterpart. Only a weaker fighter could be killed or if Cell was only slightly stronger. Trunks was FAR stronger than Cell it wasn't even funny. He could transform immediately and end it like he did in Trunks timeline (not Cells). It's a piss poor explanation and don't give me the 'power levels are BS' crap because there is no way Trunks could be killed by Imperfect Cell if he was strong enough to face him in his Perfect form. Go ask any DBZ scholar and they would agree with me. They used a remote to deactivate the androids in Cell's timeline. It's the only plausible explanation.

    • @DarkcIoud1111.
      @DarkcIoud1111. 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@codesm96 Just using DBZ logic, it still works. Cell after escaping from Piccolo's group the first time manages to drink a bunch of people and show up directly next to Piccolo while he is fighting 17. None of the androids give off power readings and Cell has managed to hide himself despite being as powerful as he is. It isn't a leap to think he can mask his power level in his first form similar to how 17/18 don't give off any readings.
      Also the only reason Vegeta and Goku decide to use the HTC was a result of Cell's appearance; without him they may not of trained in that room or if they did maybe not for a full year as any one person could beat them after a year of training. Plus if Trunks is correct when he says the Androids from his timeline are weaker, it would make sense for him to be able to beat them on his own while Goku, Vegeta, and him (plus maybe Piccolo) could of teamed up to beat them in this unseen timeline with limited HTC use. I don't think they would of used the shutoff switch just because Vegeta and Goku prefer to fight; Vegeta even fights Trunks to allow Cell to find 18. The Trunks we do see is a lot stronger as he goes in the HTC twice (once to prevent Cell from becoming perfect and once to prepare for the Cell games). If unseen timeline Trunks only used the HTC once for a shorter time period or maybe not at all if Goku went first and killed the androids once he was out, he would be a lot weaker when Cell kills him. By the time the Cell Games ends, future Cell would have no chance of killing him. The issue is without knowing exactly how Trunks defeated his version of the Androids in the future (either remote or training in the HTC just long enough to beat the androids with the others in the past), we can't say how strong he actually is when Cell kills him.

    So here's the thing. Daizenshuu 7 (think it was 7) said the Unseen TL was a Cell Games without Trunks. I know they sort of tried to retcon it later but....
    I believe the Unseen TL and the Main TL diverge when Trunks makes the decision to leave instead of train. But because the original history was Trunks dying, Cells goes back in time to before it diverges from the Main TL. Divergence happens at the moment of Paradox, which happens when Trunks decides to train not when Cell arives.
    So there are 2 identical Cells, one in each TL both originating in the same TL.

    There's still a missing Cell in the FoT tho. Future Timeline 1 Cell kills Trunks and travels to the past, 1 year before Frieza and Trunks show up, thus creating the FoT timeline, and then Trunks travels to the main tineline which is pretty much identical up to his arrival, including Cell which is the one we see become perfect. Trunks goes back to the FoT timeline, kills 17, 18 and lab Cell, but Timeline 1 Cell should still be lurking around

    Plot hole with the original timeline. In the anime where piccolo is questioning imperfect cell. Cell explains how he got Frieza and king colds cells from when future trunks killed them. The original timeline should have played out with Goku using instant transmission to get back to earth and defeating them both. Like in the HOT timeline. Which suggests that the original timeline, even though they prepared for the Androids would have been different in how things played out leading up to Cell killing Trunks. Perhaps Goku didn't survive the heart virus and Piccolo wasn't strong enough to kill the Androids after merging with Kame. Or when they found 17 and 18 they were all killed. Those Androids could have also been evil as the HOT timeline Androids but as strong as the main timeline Androids.
    I think the original timeline is noticeably different from the HOT timeline and not just from trunks traveling to the unseen timeline. The Z fighters still die in the original timeline because they weren't strong enough even though they prepared.
    This also suggests that there was infact more timelines revolving around this arc than the 4 you mentioned. Not including super android 13.
    I can think of 5 timelines. I'll break it down as simple as I can. We'll call the original timeline the "cell timeline". Then we'll add one more timeline before that and call that the original so it makes sense.
    1. Original timeline is almost identical to HOT timeline and plays out the same with trunks going to the past.
    2. The past is the cell timeline. He kills Frieza and king cold like in the main and unforseen timelines. But in the cell timeline they still all die and the Androids reek havoc on the world until that trunks grows up and travels to unseen timeline.
    3. Unseen timeline they all survive and trunks gets a deactivation device and goes back to cell timeline. After destroying 17 and 18 in cell timeline trunks is killed by cell.
    4. Cell going back in time intersecting with trunks changes the main timeline making it fork in a new direction from the unseen timeline.
    This actually leaves 2 cells who exist in alternate timelines. The original timeline cell exists and is able to become perfect because that trunks never returned to destroy 17 and 18.
    Cell also exists in unseen universe because he wasn't known about, and he cannot absorb 17 and 18 to become perfect.

      @@QaamansLand but 3 different Future Trunks to support the 5th timeline. The one Cell discussed to Piccolo who killed Frieza and King Cold. The one Cell killed and took his time machine. And the HOT Trunks.
      Your video of one Cell that survived in the unseen only shows the 4 timelines. Unless you eliminate the unseen timeline where in the Cell timeline Trunks never traveled to the past, who managed to get a shutdown device and was going to take it to the past to destroy the Androids. Can you verify if that Trunks ever traveled to the past before Cell killed him?
      If there are only 4 timelines. That would mean that 2 different Trunks only time traveled in 2 of them and Cell time traveled in one of them. And so the Future Trunks that killed Frieza from Cells timeline would be considered both the original and unseen timeline.

    5:23 I dont think it was a plot hole in regarding why the time machine was set to return to an earlier time before Goku's arrival back to Earth from Yardraft. In the manga, after Piccolo asks Cell about the mystery of why Cell had traveled to an earlier timeline, in which Cell responded that he simply pressed a button, Piccolo then deduced that Future Trunks intention of going back in time was to inform the Z warriors of the unknown timeline about his victory over the andriods, which is what the alternate future trunks does, after killing the andriods of his future in the alternate future timeline, thus confirming Piccolo's theory.
    The only reason Cell traveled to an earlier timeline was because he killed the original Future Trunks before Trunks could set the proper coordinates for his time machine to travel to the unknown timeline to meet back with the Z warriors. Based on Cell's story, he appeared before Future Trunks after finding out about the time machine and killed Trunks before he could do anything to properly set the right coordinates to go back to meet the Z warriors he had already encountered. Because Cell saw the time machine as an opportunity, he wasted no time allowing Trunks to board the time machine, and basically killed Trunks right after Trunks had activated the machine, which is explains why the time machine was practically set on an auto coordinate, not the one Trunks intended.

    I've thought about this subject countless times. Yet how I micromanaged the plot holes was that Trunks went back the first time to warn them. Then decided that he never had to defeat Frieza or talk to the guys at all and just head straight to Dr. Gero's lab. So instead of staying in the past like he does in the shows timeline. He goes back to the future after getting the Android plans because Cell never arrived in that alternate show timeline. He figured that future was saved because they have the deactivation remotes. Then after returning to his time, he used the remote to deactivate the Androids and take them out. As the future started to rebuild, he also had to wait 3 years in order to use the time machine again due to the futures limited fuel. His plan was to go back a year before meeting the guys and killing Frieza in order to prevent having to and just going to Dr. Gero directly in order to prevent as much change as possible. That's when Cell gets the jump on Trunks after over hearing his plans. We call this original timeline Cells timeline more or less. Then you got Trunks timeline which is basically the Trunks we know from the show (and movie) and then the shows actual timeline.
    Another theory is that instead of having a remote. He somehow manages to kill the Androids of his timeline via a fluke because we learn that when the timeline changes, the power of the Androids get stronger. Its possible that the original Androids of Cells timeline were weaker than the Trunks and the shows timeline (The fact that we don't know much about that timeline could also mean that the Z warriors were weaker when they were killed. Maybe Vegeta and Gohan never turned Super Saiyan) but with each change, each timeline got stronger versions. Thus instead of Trunks being able to win on a fluke, he was defeated before accepting his fate and using the time machine. This would only give us the three timelines. Cell's, Trunks, and Shows.

    I think what might've happened is, and about as fast as it did in the show, not shown widely, but widely known Android #19 and Gero did attack a city, Z-fighters showed up to stop them.
    Vegeta could go Super Saiyan unknown to Gero, and he kills #19 after Goku falls ill, causing Gero to flee, and they send Gohan to take him home similar to mainline minus future trunks.
    Gero flees to his lab to free #17 & #18 to help, but like in Super Android #13 they kill him, but Gero never gets to indicate about the remote, or blueprints, they just kill him.
    Then the two go and wreck havoc and find the Z-fighters in short time as they were hot on Gero, but didnt know about his base as they lacked Bulma's knowledge since they didn't know about the initial attack for her to show up or hang around like she does in mainline.
    Z-fighters are defeated quickly by #17 and #18, leaving Gohan and Trunks at their respective homes.
    Goku died naturally and has no otherworld physical form, piccolo died so no dragon balls.
    Time proceeds normal for a bit, and with the Androids widely broadcast Bulma recognizes the logo on their clothes and realizes Gero might've been (and was) involved, and probably had failsafes or something that could aid them.
    They cautiously look for Gero's base and stumble upon it, and conveniently a remote, or plans for one. They see cell's tube but not knowing much don't bother, or dont pay enough mind.
    Alternatively they only find the lair after cell has broken out (but not tracked the androids yet) already and therefor dont even know, in this case likely Future Gohan found it, or older Trunks if Gohan were to have died from Cell or the Androids (in the confusion and destruction who did it wouldnt be very well known).
    Trunks (or Gohan) grab the remote and return safely to Bulma and ensure they are destroyed.
    For some reason or another there is no more Gohan.
    Trunks sets the machine to go make a better future, Cell kills Trunks and hijacks the Time Machine.
    No one questions a missing Trunks as who knows how long or short his trip could be, and after awhile would be an assumed failure and Bulma never makes another/"better" working Time Machine lacking suitable Guinea Pigs with everyone she knew and loved gone including her offspring.

    • @CorruptedFamine
      @CorruptedFamine 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Frieza might've shown up and in rage Vegeta would've gotten his Super Saiyan form similar to how in training he gets it in mainline from jealousy. But against Frieza+Jealousy it's almost a guarantee he gets it, not without a fight though, but has time to recover between Frieza's visit and Gero appearing.
      Alternatively Frieza didn't find anyone to kill in time before Goku returns, sees him, and kills him having learned how to control his transformation on Yardrat. Vegeta gets his form the same way as mainline in this case.

    I think Super kind of gave it away regarding trunks time travel shenanigans, What I think it was, Trunks and Bulma future must of had issues in finding ways in defeating the androids, he went into the past, met past Bulma and maybe a couple of folks to tell them the chaos that ensured, Past Bulma told him there's got to be a way in turning them off, hence why the controller was made in the past and in which case he turned them off in the unseen timeline, went into the future in his own timeline and turned them off in his own timeline. My guess is it is at THIS point where Cell captures him as he was looking to return to tell past Bulma he had done it and stopped the androids.

    OG Cell then uses the time machine... and doesn't make a new timeline like trunks... but end up in the main one?!
    How is the History of Trunks Timeline made?

      @AnothonyHD ปีที่แล้ว

      The HoT timeline is an alternate version of the Original Trunk's Timeline (A.k.a Cell's Timeline).
      The HoT Timeline is the result of Future Trunks returning to his timeline after learning about the existence of Cell and the time machine. This knowledge causes the HoT Timeline to diverge from Cell's timeline. Future Trunks is now aware of Cell's ambush plan to steal his time machine and, equipped with the training he received in the Main Timeline, is able to defeat Cell in his own world. Both of these factors enable Trunks to prevent the grim fate originally destined for his future. That is how the HoT timeline is created.
