- In this video I am analysing the last hope for the future, Trunks. I cover everything from when he defeats Frieza and King Cold, to how he meets Goku and warns him about Android 17 and 18, and his relationship with his father Vegeta. Also I go over his various different battles, including his past encounters from The History of Trunks, and his battle with Cell and Frieza. I analyse Future Trunks using the Dragon Ball manga as a reference, so only his appearances within Dragon Ball Z will be discussed in this video, I won’t be covering his Dragon Ball Super reappearance. What’s funny is that Future Bulma wasn’t even the least bit surprised by that, and was chill about it
Trunks is the "common sense" fighter. He doesn't have the compete/playfulness of Goku, the prideful arrogance of Vegeta, or the emotional immaturity of Gohan.... he just did was needs to be done. Freeza and King Cold.... just outright killed them, once he returned to the future he just immediately destroyed both Androids and Cell. He doesn't need to prove anything or "make them pay", just seek and destroy. Would have immediately destroy Perfect Cell if he could have.

The writer for bojack unbound did great for trunks vs tien. Both trunks going ssj just like future gohan, but then he helped tien out of the water as an equal, also a callback to when future gohan and didn't help him out of the water but offered him a towel

Trunks transformation in the special is one of my faviouret moments in the series.
Future trunks is awesome I remember when he killed frieza FRIEZA! Like he was nothing like it was yesterday man my jaw dropped when he turned super saiyan.
Nice to see an analysis on Trunks. He was one of my favourite characters from DBZ. His backstory is tragic, his arc is nuanced and the resolution was satisfying.
Good work. If possible, could you please make an analysis video on Dr Gero? His impact in DBZ is bigger than anyone realise.

Trunks is my favorite Character because he doesn't try to prove a point in a crisis he focuses the task at hand he doesn't let villain get full power in a fight he goes for the kill and plus he has a sword
Trunks should have gotten a spin off manga. That would have been better than DB Super.
Trunks is basically a fusion of John Conner and Kyle Reese (and maybe the second T-800); which works perfectly.
History of Trunks is perhaps the peak of the franchise in terms of overall quality. It’s perhaps the only story since the original Dragon Ball to have proper plotting, writing, dialogue, character development, and most of all, STAKES. One really feels the despair in this timeline, making the triumphs earned and powerful.
I’m pretty biased though, my mother got me History of Trunks from a DVD bargain bin on a whim, I never expressed any interest in Dragon Ball before. I watched it and it blew my mind. Down the rabbit hole I went. To me, his timeline is the original timeline (and I guess it is in the lore, too). So it getting completely erased in Super was a big slap in the face. They better retcon that shit eventually
well he changed the history..originally he should be dead, killed by Cell.Cell stole his time machine and back to Main storyline.
thats why in Main timeline when trunks fight cell,cell told trunks he killed trunk and stole the time machine.
after Z warrior killed Perfect Cell, trunks went back to his timeline,killed 17,18 and preventing cell from back to main timeline by killing him.
after leads to Zamasu Goku black arc.
to me the main reason is always Bulma...she created time machine.

I think this was a great video although I foolishly believed you would touch on some of the Super highlights. Such as how touching it was when he saw Gohan’s life as a father, husband and scholar. I forget who it was, maybe Vegeta, and they were like “he’s gotten so weak” and it pans to Future Trunks nearly crying because he knew that’s all he ever wanted.
Anyway great video. Highlights just how dark DBZ could get if just a few things changed. I always love that hidden seinen aspect in manga. The implication that there are certain things in motion that could be potentially very deadly without outright saying it.
Great video can't wait for more in depth analysis of dbz characters like this one. your earlier analysis videos was good, but I think there is more to explore.

Instead of Recruiting Freeza, i think it would be a better writing and option if they just recruited FUTURE TRUNKS to join the Universe 7 and made him the ultimate survivor and made him wish to the super dragon balls to revive his future timeline. And not to mention the twist and drama to see FUTURE TRUNKS to fight alongside with ANDROID 17 and 18. I think that would have been a better story.

Great analysis. I'm SO glad that you didn't include DBS Future Trunks to it, since that character is so different - not just the hair color - that it destroys all the complexity & strength of the "classical" Future Trunks. ^^
Ironically enough in his fight with Toppo, Vegeta said that he loved his family to death.

It is a difficult balance creating content that means something to you, and appealing to the public. It is so easy to call artists “sell-outs” or simply appealing to the public interest, but they do not understand the pains of watching you pour hours, days, weeks, even months, sink away into the algorithm to make way for content that often times has little work placed into it.
I've never watched HunterxHunter or Attack on Titan, so that's the main reason I've yet to watch your other work. But I never knew you had earlier Dragon Ball analysis videos.
I wish you the best. Anyone can see you pour so much work into your content and I wish hard work was the main factor for success for content creators. Unfortunately, a lot of it is based on luck and what is trending (something out of your control, really).

Trunks is great character wish he comes back, since he left on a poor note in the Goku Black arc.
For those who watched Dragon Ball Kai Trunks made his debut in episode 55. I grew up on DBZ but warming up and loving Kai because it's more faithful to Akira Toriyama worj and the English dubbed dialogue is beat for beat from the manga. FUN FACT: In Kai they fix that mistake about Android 19 and 20 was the actually Android wreck havoc in his timeline. Instead Trunks tell Goku that certain Androids will be arriving in the new English dialogue.... Please more Dragon Ball content🥺!

I always thought of trunks and gohan (within the cell saga) as way more interesting as their fathers. toriyama pretty much had to write them into insignificance because they would have stolen the spotlight sooner or later.

Future Trunks is the most tragic character in Dragon Ball. He is the only character in Dragon Ball who lost everything. All the other Future Z fighters were killed by Future Androids 17 & 18, his mother was killed by Goku Black/Zamasu, Zamasu consumed the whole future timeline and killed the remaining future survivors. Then Goku had to call in Zeno to erase the future timeline to get rid of Zamasu.
Future Trunks had to go to a new timeline before all the Zamasu mess went down
Why didn't bulma make a ship for trunks to go to new namek to use there dragon balls??
So he beat the androids in the future, beat the androids in the past then went back then he had to deal with Goku: BLACK . sounds like a paradox to me.

Something that always bugged me is why didn't Future Bulma build a space ship to send Future Trunks to Namek after he came back and defeated the Androids and Cell.
I thought that too but then I thought that the androids would probably beat them again trunks would have to keep reviving them until they get enough zenkai boosts to defeat the androids
Also I'm sure the dragon balls have a time limit of 1 year since their death to revive people.
@@dinogt8477 They wouldn't be beaten again, as Goku woukd be there to train effectively with everyone as well as provide the time chamber.
