Agreed with your perspective on Rimowa! While they may not get as much daily usage like a luxury bag, they certainly will carry a timeless aesthetic well beyond a daily bag. After all, it is the pride in ownership for its history in travel and that’s priceless.

After years of both, admiring the Rimowa brand, 'trying' to justify it's high cost (still haven't!) and learning how to correctly and sensibly pack, I recently took the plunge...and bought one!.
I had looked around for a nice aluminium carry-on prior, but just couldn't find another brand with the same aesthetics, breeding and most of all, originality that the Rimowa brand has.
I was 'ummng' between the 'Classic Cabin (with leather handles) and the 'Original Cabin Twist'. But decided to purchase the former, because it was this model that had caught my eye originally years and years ago when I first saw it. .
Personally I think the Classic Cabin looks amazing, and completely crowns the whole collection of rimowa, and is the identity of the brand just 'amplifies' it.
Are they overpriced?....yes, I still believe that they are. (although I would never consider buying any 'check-in version' of this brand, unless you have more money than sense!....or mummy and daddy are buying it for you).
But that is luxury brands for you. I try to ease my economic discomfort by telling myself, that this will likely be the last piece of luggage I will invest in and it will pay for itself (somehow!).

I have the original cabin plus in aluminum. I’ve been using since the beginning of this year and it’s been on 4 trips so far. I check it everytime and I absolutely love the way it holds up. I look forward to using it for the rest of my life

Thank you for this update! I actually found you from your Berlin vlog when you bought the Cabin S; I was hoping to buy either the Cabin or Cabin S when I was in Europe this past October but unfortunately they were sold out everywhere I went. I’ll try again when I’m back in the fall!

just got my hands on one of the last ones of the original cabin ones in arctic blue and I'm so happy to use it in the future, I also habe the large original check-in one and also thought about buying a protective cover but it ruins the whole vibe so I've already taken it on 8 flights and it holds up way better than I've heard people say before so I'm very happy about being able to use it without the - as you mentioned - hideos cover
..adding on something: I also have their aluminium phonecase and it's way worth it compared to apple one's they hold up sooo well and still look like new after a year of having it on my phone, also protecting it so well! and you mentioned you were thinking of adding the trunk to complete your collection, I was actually thinking about the same and they just launched the polycarbonate trunk in sea blue and I absolutely love the way it looks on the website, might have to go and check it out in store because I feel like polycarbonate is perfect for the trunk because of the weight and stuff! loved your review very much!!

Since LVMH purchased Rimova warranty is now lifetime.
Rimowa changed it to a lifetime warranty last year, several years after LVMH purchased them.

Love the look of RImowa luggage however alas too impractical for my travel needs. The small cabin suitcase seems to weigh in at 4.2kg, leaving only 2.8kg for your stuff when travelling those airlines with a 7kg total carry on limit (Europe, UK & Asia). Was travelling from Kuala Lumpur 6 weeks back where they weighed the cabin luggage just before passport control. Would hate to have such a nice expensive bag have to be checked 🙁. My preferences are soft sided carry-ons weighing no more than 2kg 😎. Enjoyed the video! 🙏
Oh dear, luckily I've never had my carryon weighed, as it would definitely be heavier than 7kg!

No issues at all, but I can’t compare to the original as I haven’t used that version

Keep in mind that it’s supposed to get dented. It shows how well traveled you are. They’re not meant to stay perfect. Also, I have the polycarbonate one. It’s taken a noticeable beating.
Hi thanks for shearing this information ℹ️ with us actually I’m thinking of buying my traveling set from them but here in Switzerland 🇨🇭 at the RIMOWA store they told me now they have lifetime warranty so maybe u can go to RIMOWA shop and see if they can give u new warrant once again thanks for shearing I’m ur big fun 🤩 😊
Thank you so much! I will absolutely try but they’re pretty clear on their website that the lifetime warranty only applies to suitcases purchased after July 2022 which seems VERY unfair to me 😭
@@Ifeyinwa don’t feel bad. I think the ones purchased as from July 2022 are possibly the dwindled quality hence the lifetime warranty.
honestly,
rimowa is worth it completely. it's the best suitcase ever IMO.
but if you don't have much money, don't get it. if you have to think about how much it cost, then better save money for rent/ food/ medical. and better use that money to travel on the budget.
rimowa is for those who have way too much money to worry about $1000. and it's totally worth worth worth it. the best ever.
I bought it 3 weeks ago. I always struggle opening the lock! Omg the lock is a nightmare! 😢

I’ve had this same cabin sized one for 8 years now and have only taken it on maybe 3 trips. It’s not my preferred cabin luggage because it’s so heavy. I’m a female and I can barely lift it to put it into the overhead compartment. Same as you, I have to be careful when packing stuff in it to not overload it so that I can’t lift it myself on the plane.
That’s a fair point, I don’t struggle with lifting mine luckily but I’m definitely leaning towards the Essential range for my next check in piece.
@@Ifeyinwa I’m eyeing the lighter Polycarbonate cabin luggage one but this aluminum one is still very pretty and feels luxurious and well made, nonetheless.
