    If you're going to sell something, it's your responsibility to do research on your product. And if you're the type of person who just wants to get rid of said product, then you're only going to get what you're willing to accept. I would consider that a huge deal!! Plus they put in the effort to clean the cartridges, they earned their profit!

      @@nightmarecow3631- In this day and age of information being readily available at the push of several buttons in the convenience of your own home, any ignorant person can educate themselves about anything they have to see if it’s worth something.
      Whether she had the foresight to do the research and possibly get more than what she bargained for is ultimately on her. Anyone who knew better could’ve educated her about the potential of getting more than what she was willing to accept, but it’s ultimately on her to know that potential. Any buyer wanting to take advantage of a great deal like that is simply taking advantage of a great deal. There was really no excuse for the seller to get in on a great deal herself given all it took was simple Google research.

    The thing is, once you start offering more and more for the stuff the seller will get anxious and start to realize they're making a mistake and if you do end up completing the deal even after offering more you could leave them feeling regretful and unsure about what they just did. Not so they don’t feel regret but so they actually close the deal with you asap.

    I once bought a copy of Ninja Combat for the AES for $75 on Facebook Marketplace. When I got the cart it was unlabeled and when I plugged it in, it didn't work. I assumed I got ripped off but just incase I opened the cart and saw that it was an official PCB. I tried a little harder to clean it and when I plugged it back in I saw that it was Metal Slug (they had listed 3 games that included Metal Slug and Ninja Combat), I was tempted to just keep it but every thing in my collection was either a gift, something from my childhood or something I found out in the wild (ie, something with a story behind it). I figured that the seller had just made a very expensive mistake and the right thing to do was to message them and let them know. Unfortunately whoever they shipped the Ninja Combat to didn't feel the same way (the seller refunded me the $75 and I dropped the Metal Slug off at their house). At least I feel good about sending out some good into the retro community. Still haven't found a copy of Ninja Combat that cheap though :)

    If I have anything extra to give and the seller is OK with letting stuff go for a small amount I'm always willing to give an increased amount, especially when people hold stuff for me and let me check it out before I hand them the money.
    Moat recently picked up a big PS1/PS2 lot with about $400 worth of games. The lady held it for 2 days and let me go through everything and only wanted $50. I had $80 ok me and gave her the extra $30.
    It was a good haul, considering out of the 40-50 games and consoles I kept about a dozen games for myself and made a profit on what I didn't need.

    Giving what they are asking is on the seller. If you feel like they are way under priced you could offer more but that could have weird consequences. "Well how much are they really worth?"
    What I find deplorable is asking for a lower price when you know it's a great deal. Saw something like this from someone on another TH-cam channel. Pursuing the Correct Cost. Stopped watching after that. The discount wasn't much on an already crazy low price but it was the principle.

    Shinobi 3 Great game and certainly not bad ussual goes for around 40+ here.
    Then i get to the bottom of the box the guy putt the lot in.

    'I've got mouth's to feed'. I'm always wary of people who use that line. People on here saying it's the responsibility of the Seller to know their product and the price. Up to a point. If they are dangerously low balling their own product it is the duty of the buyer to educate them otherwise it's just as good as, at worst, stealing, at best, taking advantage of someone. That's my opinion. So many grifters commenting on here. I'm sure if the roles were reversed and you sold something for a ridiculously low price you would soon be getting lawyered up once you knew how low-balled you had been, crying to your lawyer how the 'nasty person' had taken advantage of you. So have some empathy and practice what you preach.

Sometimes people just want the stuff out of their house they don’t care how much it sells for hence why they don’t put the effort to find out how much it sells for. Sometimes people know how much it sells for but they don’t want to go through the trouble of selling it. We see this every week on some form or another. Value is at times subjective and relative. The way people are today, if you tell them you’ll pay more than what they’re asking, you’re running the risk of them then looking up some of the prices. Sometimes you just gotta catch ‘em slipping or it may backfire 😅

    I'd let her know, look you have one $375 game in here, probably over $500 in product here. Just dont want you to get ripped off and not even know it. If youre interest I'll give you about $200 for everything. Knowing I just offered you less than half of what I quoted, you gotta understand I need to value my time and knowledge. I gotta make a profit on this, so here's the offer. If you want to try and wait to get top dollar for all this, up to you, but I just dont wanna see an innocent person get ripped off.

    • @CarlYota
      @CarlYota 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you’re gonna be transparent then the biggest factor is not knowing if the product even works. It’s literally worth nothing if it doesn’t work. So if they won’t let you verify that it actually works or they won’t money back guarantee it, then that’s a huge hit to the sales price they have to take.

  • @goldkirby

    I think it depends on the situation of the sale; if he/she looks like they could really use the money and clearly just didn’t have the time to research, then I would offer closer to value, but any other case, we’re both happy lol

    • @CarlYota
      @CarlYota 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fair enough as long as there is a money back guarantee if the games don’t work. You assume a ton of risk when you offer fair market value for used goods that can’t be verified in the moment. It could literally be a box of garbage, worst case scenario. This must be factored in when considering your offer. The game is worth 350 of it works and 0 if it doesn’t. So what is "closer to value" in that situation?

  • @woozi36
    @woozi36 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    • @CarlYota
      @CarlYota 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It goes for 350 if it works. Was it tested by the seller? Would they let you test it before buying? Is there a money back guarantee if it doesn’t work? If not, The reseller is assuming risk here, and that lowers the price too.

    I would of gave that person the price they ask for. It is not the person problem if they don't do research. It is not the buyer problem to hold your hand like a child to educate the seller. If the buyer knew what she had and wanted the item knowing its a hot item, He can offer them more to sealed the deal. Knowledge is not free.
    Had this person on market place bought 2 rare first gen toy story toys. She didn't realize they were first gen under a specific brand and movie size toys. She post it for only $20.00 each. She didn't reply at first and i knew how much they were worth and i offer her a little more to seal the deal. She said i was busy at the time and wasn't trying to ignore you I sell it for $20.00 each.
    I sold one for $300.00 and she notice i had the other one listed for $300.00 she got butt hurt and call me out during a 2nd conversation we had. I told her well you were not honest with me, Item is listed as new, The item was open box. It would of been a lot more if completely "new". I told her knowledge is the key, She stated i will not make that mistake again wtih the movie size. I told her it isn't just about the movie size, It was about the brand and generation. Told her the price i sold the one of the toy story item and block her, Day's later sold the other one. I was not that mad about the listed "new" since it was open box it is still worth a ton even at used price. I was shock.
    Not the buyer problem if the person does not have knowledge. Not their responsibility
