I’m not sure how the rabbit hole of TH-cam found your channel, I don’t play video games, played sports growing up. I love this channel. It’s not my thing but I appreciate your community of video enthusiasts. It’s nice to see so many for a love of something. Very cool.
A good trick for getting that residue off plastic cases is to get a piece of clear packing tape and make a tape loop, then repeatedly stick it and pull it off the residued areas. It comes of pretty cleanly in my experience.
@ShaBoinkyBoink that's what i used to do when i use to buy 3ds complete games from gamestop i would be in my room using that strategy sometimes i will even use the gamestop price tag sticker to do it😂
As I former copier tech that has seen it all, I will say that Goo B Gone and similar products are not that great. Look up Solex. Make sure you use gloves, and don't get it on the disc.
Rick, you need a website, so I can buy some stuff, I don’t have Facebook or anything like that, but looks like you take care of the games and systems, and saw reviews of TH-camrs buying items from your shop, so let’s go!!!
I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT INTERACTOR! I had one growing up. It is pretty much a subwoofer that you wear on your back and it just kicks you based on the noises in the game. Pretty cool. Thanks for the nostalgia bomb!
I did a focus group when I was a kid for the Interactor in Connecticut. I was given juice and snacks and remember playing King of Monsters while using it. Was also paid $55. I miss those days
Dude I totally had an Aura Interactor I would have a sterring wheel and strap the aure to a swivel chair for added effects during Ridge Racer sessions. Works on all consoles. lol
Your kiddo raging at Mario party is so real lol the con is looking like is going to be a blast hoping we can figure out how to make it. Would be our second con ever but we are hooked we need more
I see people mentioning a bunch of different chemicals for removing stickers... and the common theme seems to be some sort of petroleum distillate. I've been using Bestine (heptane), which is sold as a thinner or reducer for rubber cement, and it's been working well for me.
Poor guy. I too know the pains of selling/pawning off a video game collection when cash funds are short. The good news is most games are still easy to find later down the road once the finances get stable again should they choose to buy some of their stuff back later.
I am a huge fan of yours Retro Rick, I'm from the Philippines, i really dream of recollecting or owning all the consoles and games that I had in the past. Cause I lost them all and need to sold them to help cover up my mom's breast cancer hospital expenses. I hope you can help me regain those consoles and games. It would be a dream come true.
Okay because that sticker residue looks awful, ill share my secret to minty clean clear plastic. A small dab will do you. It goes a long way. Let it sit on the adhesive residue for a bit but don't let it completely dry out, then wipe off with a paper towel. Take the paper inserts out first to avoid it running over the edges into the paper, rinse the plastic case with water to remove the citrus scent and dry before putting the insert back. Goo Gone citrus Adhesive Remover Spray Gel - and Sticker Lifter - Removes Chewing Gum Grease Tar Stickers Labels Tape Residue Oil Blood Lipstick Mascara
I love that price speculation game you played, you should do that more. I think it would be better if the guesses were not viewable to each player though, kind of blindfolded instead. Really cool game though and I think people would enjoy more stuff like that, it is exciting. Also let the video watchers play along too, like a gameshow. XD
Where i am at in Canada good CRT's are a dime a dozen and usually can be aquired for free, but it seems in a lot of places in the United States you could sell those TV's for a pretty penny. Im always seeing people on reddit happy with finding an average set for like $50-100
As a person who has owned a game store for over a decade and sold games for decades I offer this wisdom: do not open sealed games ever. They'll eventually gain value. Price them as complete if they are worth more than "new" sealed. They are only new sealed once after all.
I don't think the problem is that the CIB is worth more than new....I think the problem is that they have no space in the area they designate for new, so they open them to put them in the used section, which seems kinda silly to me lol
I have to disagree. I’ve been in the industry a slightly longer amount of time and the vast majority of games don’t appreciate in levels like you’re thinking until multiple decades after they discontinue production. Even then it’s nowhere near a guarantee. If you look at the 360/PS3 catalog you’ll find plenty of examples of this. At the end of the day the vast majority of people buying at brick and mortar stores are buying something to play. If you want to buy or sell something expressly as a sealed collectible your market will be wider, overhead lower, and opportunity cost lower selling those online as opposed to in store.
Pfft us collecers have a hard time talking them off in the uk .. best things I've found is a polish called Mr muscle.. spray leave 30 seconds peal and wipe ( note it will take ink off the cover sleave ) also epic video keep up the awesome work guys
Resellers love this. Hes pretty happy to put food on his table, a roof over his head, and more games in his collection but, I mourn. Its interesting to see his reaction and Ive seen in other TH-cam videos like this. In a separate universe, in my experience anyway, when I bought my bike everyone around me told me: "Dude, you're world has opened up to a group of friends you never even knew you had" which is crazy! (With the exception of Speed bikes) A brotherhood unlike any made up of complete strangers with a simple signal of identification and they fire it right back. Doesnt matter what cruiser youre riding, its pretty amazing. If youre on the side of the road, theres an understanding, they stop for you and you stop for them (unless its a club then theyre covered, stay out of their business) but theyll stop to make sure you're good. I learned shortly in, even if youre trading up for something else, I was told what an unforgettable feeling it is to have to let that iron horse go, its a really crappy feeling you dont know until it hits. When COVID hit, I had to survive, I had to put a roof over my head and pay rent, I lost my job and it was just me and what I had of value was my car (I couldnt sell because I had to get around), my kit I was learning to play only about 4 months in, and my bike. I remember what a crappy feeling it was to have to sell both just to pay rent, RENT, not a house payment that was my investment. As I sold them both off, even my kit the guy that bought it from me was actually a former inmate that had been rehabilitated and this was his way of staying straight and keeping his mind clear and focused on something other than drugs. He knew what I was having to part with and saw my apartment as it had never before been like a hurricane hsd gone through as I was boxing up trying to get ready to get somewhere I could balance my life. He offered a lot more than what I was asking and took the time to talk about our mutual interest and that I was having to surrender it just to live. The bike was next.... And I finally understood what theyd been telling me. Id been riding, then, for 10 years and the time came I had to sell her and it was a crappy feeling. People had asked me years just coming up to me or stopping out front of my home knocking on my door and asking if I was interesting in selling her and I told them NOPE. Even for an upgrade I would've kept her but, I needed money to pay bills. The guy sat and talked bikes with me for a while knowing exactly how it felt. A brotherhood of empathy. Its a feeling they don't ever like either and neither did I but promised on both occasions theyd be going to a good home to be appreciated. So, every time I see something like this, I know how it feels to have to sell your long time hobby. Reseller its a great day, hes gonna make money, but I know exactly how it feels, and resellers are giving you as little as they can get away with ro maximize their profit, return on investment. It sucks having to see this happen to people because I know it all too well. Poor guy.... And ya try and mask it. To sell online youre paying a lot in shipping and in time..... So hes loving his big scores but, yeah, interesting to watch businessmen deal with instances like this. Ergh..... Poor guy.....
I sold my collection (around 500) in 2016 to a store and got around $5600 in cash. I used it for a down payment on an M3 and 2 months later i was right back in it. Honestly thinking about doing it again, I have way more rare stuff now.
Was so excited the year I got the Interactor for Christmas cause it looked so cool. Honestly only used it a few times. Did not end up liking the feedback from the device and just felt like I was strapping a speaker to my back at times. One of my more disappointing childhood presents.
Gamestop stickers are the WORST! And what's worse, sometimes they put their stickers on the actual cover art underneath the plastic. Why!? I hate getting used games from them. It's just permanent stickers everywhere.
Where do you get those stickers since you rate them so highly. I'm planning on vending next year but I don't wanna put stickers on games if they're gonna end up being like gamestop stickers
Good job Rick , crtv should be a collector list and should rise in price . Why because it's only way we can back to the past and feel a real retro pixel using crtv and some gun must use crtv only to work , good job because only you think the right way same as me think . And just for some information for the western people we are in Asia the pricey game now is PS4 PES 2021 SEASON UPDATE now used worth 100usd it's hardly to keep in stock people just go crazy buy it , they will update the new patch and if want original back just delete and install again simple .
I was born in 1992, and I know my generation pretty much skipped on PS4 and did other things, so getting a lot of PS4 games is probably a good thing for the store.

I sold my first collection in 2011. I’m proud it’s back with a vengeance. Like you said Rick, we’ve all been there 😵💫
Got my approval for vending today! Working out the details to attend from... Columbus, Ohio! My 1st convention as a vendor! Thanks team!
GO BUCKEYES!!!

Thanks Rick for taking the three crts off my hands! The wife was very happy they didn’t come home with me!
A good trick for getting that residue off plastic cases is to get a piece of clear packing tape and make a tape loop, then repeatedly stick it and pull it off the residued areas. It comes of pretty cleanly in my experience.
A quick wipe with WD40 will remove it too.
Alcohol or ammonia too. Ammonia is also VERY effective too clean consoles and accessories. (Don't inhale)
Goo gone, take out cover art and put goo gone on paper towel and wipe clean easy
@ShaBoinkyBoink that's what i used to do when i use to buy 3ds complete games from gamestop i would be in my room using that strategy sometimes i will even use the gamestop price tag sticker to do it😂

I like Michael. He and Rick have good chemistry
If every workplace had a Michael the world would be such a better place to work in 😄

Awe yeah buddy 😎. Cannot wait for October 🤘. Bringing the vintage goodness to Conway
Nice to see CRTs being preserved. Still got a Sony 27" WEGA CRT that I use with my retro consoles.
I like the thumb
I have somewhere between 10 and 15 crt tvs for sale. One is a black Trinitron with its matching original black small tv stand. All work great
Thought that was Caleb (Phoenix Resale) inbthe thumbnail 😅😂😂😂
Massive props for going the extra mile and sourcing crt's!
I did a focus group when I was a kid for the Interactor in Connecticut. I was given juice and snacks and remember playing King of Monsters while using it. Was also paid $55. I miss those days
$5 off?? Man I hope that doesn't break the bank
collect the $5 offs and then turn them all in at once for free stuff, think big.
Its high time the stairwell railing was lined with those rad jumbo cutouts of the retro controllers instead of the plush.
Great video, I'm hoping my channel grows so I can get some amazing consoles
Those are absolutely beautiful sets. Glad you gave them some spotlight!
Dude I totally had an Aura Interactor I would have a sterring wheel and strap the aure to a swivel chair for added effects during Ridge Racer sessions. Works on all consoles. lol
I got my Booth and hotel for the Convention, Looking forward to it!
you and your son are really funny to watch
The dude hit a Saylor Micro strategy plug in there, i love it. To the moon! btc!
Your kiddo raging at Mario party is so real lol the con is looking like is going to be a blast hoping we can figure out how to make it. Would be our second con ever but we are hooked we need more

All these collectible stores exist from taking advantage of down and out people. It's the nature of the business. It is what it is, I couldn't do it.
3:32 "Micro Strategies" made me think of that crappy NFT channel that kept hacking you guys. Don't SCARE me like that, Retro Rick!
Use Goo Gone
I am a huge fan of yours Retro Rick, I'm from the Philippines, i really dream of recollecting or owning all the consoles and games that I had in the past. Use a hairdryer to warm up the old stickers and they pull right off with no sticky stuff left!
they have those vr vests today for modern games that make you feel everything
Love the DJ full house reference 👌 😂
A tiny bit of crisco oil takes that residue off quick and easy. 👍🏻
Sonic 2 soundtrack in the background 🔥 🔥 🔥

That red head kid was gonna try to punk your kid off that game! He said “playing my game” lol
Secret to removing stickers. Both smell bad but work well, zippo lighter fluid, and goof off. Dab it on a wash cloth and wipe the residue off
Try a little goo be gone on a cutip, will take the glue off. Then your regular cleaner to get goo be gone off.
I bought a sega genesis and sonic the other day 😁😎🙏🔥👌
The banter between rick and his kid is funny .
Ready to go for RetroFest! Pretty stoked to be able to come.🎉🎉
Rick! Use rubbing alcohol and a rough towel, it takes off the sticker better than anything I've tried
Retrofest is on its way. I can almost taste it.
The lack of color coding with the post its on the systems in the backroom is triggering - each console should get assigned a specific color post it
Coconut oil will get that sticky off and it's all natural. In case you did not know that.
Appreciate the good stickers rick
@10:08 “Hmmm it’s like I did this on puuurrrpezzz 😌” 🤣🤣 Rick is hilarious hahahaha
We had an Aura Interactor! They were not good. They had an RCA connector and essentially it's a cheap subwoofer you could wear.
Awesome your son is a fan of Smash Melee. My favorite as well.
RICK THE GAMES YOU MAKE YOU EMPLOYEES PLAY ARE AN AMAZING WAY TO TRAIN THEM!!!!!!!!
I think micheal is jealous of Rick's son lol.😂 They fight for Rick's attention
I love that Cowboys Mario shirt
3:52 PLAEING A GAMMMEYY 😂😂😂

NCAA Football came out and lots of people realized they needed the new gens - they were sold out everywhere!
8:00 is 100% FACTS!!😂
Guys! All you need is a blow dryer on those stickers, it will heat up the adhesive and they will pull right off!
Try taking a heat gun on low, stickers should come off a lot easier. Just gotta watch the heat.
I sold my collection (around 500) in 2016 to a store and got around $5600 in cash. I used it for a down payment on an M3 and 2 months later i was right back in it. Honestly thinking about doing it again, I have way more rare stuff now.
Lol! Ro's Mario rage 😂
Your awesome, love the humor; you win , $5 off a game in the store 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕

See yall in October!
Rick! Zippo lighter fluid really gets off those stickers!! Just a little bit. Let it sit for a bit and boom!
That’s about $9.50 GameStop trade in value 😂
Gamestop stickers are the WORST! And what's worse, sometimes they put their stickers on the actual cover art underneath the plastic. Why!? I hate getting used games from them. It's just permanent stickers everywhere.
When I worked there I would tear the sticker from the label maker but kept the backing on and would just slide them into the spine.
Lighter fluid is the best for removing stickers.
7th gen is the last collectable era. Now everything requires internet and servers.
That's why I never left 7th gen lol
Interesting all those Xbox ones have been shipping out, what has got people so excited about those? Cool video man, love the shop
Mariogolf was fantastic on GBA.
Would love to see you take your store online
Cute kid. Take after his mom :D
You selling that TMNT basketball hoop at the end?
RJ
I know how he feels. My car needs a new engine. So I’ve been listing a bunch of stuff for sale especially my personal stuff but life happens.
Where do you get those stickers since you rate them so highly. I'm planning on vending next year but I don't wanna put stickers on games if they're gonna end up being like gamestop stickers
I have 1 crt and thing is a beast! Got to weigh at least 40 pounds
I haven't bought a Mario game in probably a decade, or work at a game store. But I got the correct order!
I had that backpack for my sega that I left at my grandma’s house 😂
Wow all these games
Just a question but would it be more cost efficient to just pull the cover art out and put it in a clean case than to clean the stickers off each one?
I thank you for making this videos it has been fun. 😁 😂 😀 😮
Just a heads up it could’ve been easier to write it on the box rather the post it notes . Those easily fall off with the slightest of wind at times
Always unfortunate when you have to sell the collection. Unless it’s something you want to do. I’ve been very fortunate.
use zepps degreaser for the smudged sticker residue.
Christina ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey retro rick! What pos system do you use? Mine is garbage

cool video
I was born in 1992, and I know my generation pretty much skipped on PS4 and did other things, so getting a lot of PS4 games is probably a good thing for the store.
i called ur store a week and a half ago and asked for you about doing a trade from NH
❤😊😊😊
What labels do you use for price tags?
You should use lighter fluid to get the residue off from the stickers
1:05 Bro.. Get some Denatured Alcohol to remove those stickers. Or WD40 works really well to get the sticker residue off.
Obviously you run a business and it must make economic sense to open them, but it just feels wrong to unseal a game without the intent to play.
As a game shop owner, I personally would never open sealed games because they are currently "worth more" unwrapped.
