Just found your channel, you two are adorable 🥰 My first time planting Clematis, excited for my Rebecca and Crystal Fountain, doing all my homework first! Love you guys and subscribed 🤗💖
Eric and Christopher… I love watching you two! Your gardens are gorgeous and match my goal of “refined exuberance” perfectly! So inspiring! What I truly admire, though, is your loving, respectful tone with each other! There’s no hint of defensiveness, just support and encouragement one for each other. Your fun with the pronunciation of “clematis” is a perfect example. I honestly keep you two in mind when my husband and I work through some gardening challenges! Thank you and keep up the great work!
Yes! I was going to suggest you spray paint your chicken wire black to make them disappear. Robbie with Visit Our Garden did that with his aviary and chicken coop.
My favorite gardening duo! So late getting to your post, back working steady at the Nursery, Spring has sprung here in Northern Virginia😃 another one of my loves, clematis, can never get enough of them, I am so glad you did this video, a great reminder for all gardeners out there.
Learned that there are 3 kinds of clematis, "something new everyday". Nice video and enjoy following along . I wish my yard was half as beautiful. It was fun! Now I want some more clematis too! Thank you for the lesson.
Perfect timing with your clematis video! I just trimmed my type 2 clematis and was worried about cutting off so many buds that were already swelling up. Seeing you do the same makes me feel better and I know the clematis will rebloom on new wood this year even though it had buds already swelling up. I love Coast of Maine soil too. So glad to be able to get it easily here in MA and NH.
First, I love that Christopher says "boop" when pruning, had me laughing:) Second, great video on pruning clematis. I planted two last year Nelly Moser (group 2) and Jamanii (group 3). I was so excited for them. I got them at my local nursery, they bloomed beautifully and then promptly succumbed to clematis wilt!!! I was so disappointed. I removed all the infected stems and hoping they return healthy this year. Fingers crossed.
Great video! Have you ever ordered from Brushwood Nursery, which specializes in clematis? Amazing quality and their packaging for shipping is superior. Their website is great as well.
I have to admit I have no clue what group any of my Clems are in and I treat them all the same-I basically cut them down to about 2 feet every year. I'm in Northern California zone 9 and most look like crapola by late July-no rain here from about May til Oct. Arabella is one of my faves and I've been experimenting with a late summer cut back and have had some success. I'm going to be even more Draconian this summer.
That was very educational, I did not know there are different cutting groups of clematis. I have two plants, one is pink, and the other is the purple kind, not sure what the names of them are, I've had them for a few years. The purple one you showed on the video looks like Olympia. I normally do not cut them back which may be the reason I only got a few blooms last year. I'm in zone 7a southeast Connecticut so I'll try the cutting method you showed and see what happens.
I wonder how much oyster shell raises pH. I saw on one of your videos you were hoping to get your hydrangeas blue. I wouldn’t use this anywhere near them. ❤love your videos!
Please make my life easier and let me know how many bags each of the raised bed mix and bar harbor blend is needed for one 2x8 elevated bed! I just bought it a few weeks and excited to use it this season!
@@growformegardeningI was close, I thought of getting 3 bags each for a total of 6! I'll get 4 bar habors and 3 castine blends then. I mean, I'll need more potting soil for my other containers too. Thank you so much for replying!
What are the round shrubs by foundation in your front yard. I'm trying to make a cloud planting with some topiaries mixed in. Ty for info on clematis I have a few and always forget. How can you tell what number your clematis is.

ooh I'll go check out those varieties!
I’m a big fan of coast of Maine products too! I use the seed starting mix with awesome results every year.
That's awesome!

I’m really happy that it comes through. Gardening is something we came to together and have genuinely enjoyed.
Love your vacillating pronunciation of the word clematis. My grandmother told me that one way was for city folk and the other for us farmers.
That’s too funny
You two have a sweet spot of a place. 😊 It's just beautiful! ❤
Thanks!
Loved it ❤❤❤😊 l love watching gardening in different zones.
Glad you enjoyed. We have days in the 60s coming again

I am taking the easy route.... there is a roll of black coated chicken wire at Home Depot! It's going to save me a TON of time and mess
@@growformegardening: Great idea!!!
Love to see both of you working together and the respect and support that you have for each other’s options and ideas. Ideal couple ❤
Too kind!
I’ve learned so much from you both. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!

We are right behind you.... the crocus are looking so beautiful!
Home Depot carries metal chicken wire with a black vinyl coating by the roll . Thoroughly enjoying you channel!!😊
ooh I will check that out. Vinyl coating might not tear my hands up so bad!

Go for type 3! I was thinking about the varieties I like most and they do tend to be 3's
I just started to grow Clematis last year. I can't wait to see them blooms this year. Thanks for sharing ❤
I'm looking forward to a big clematis bloom year
Thank you! Love your videos. So nice to have soil delivered, great idea.
Oh it was great. Much better than stuffing half of it in the back of my SUV at a time
thanks for the clematis info, helpful as always
You bet!
Love any time spent in your garden with the two of you 😊
We appreciate that
Loved the video! I’m considering adding a Clematis to my Strawberry Hill climber and this was super helpful!! XXOO
That’s a really good idea. I want that rose!!

I’m glad it was reassuring. Coast of Maine is amazzzzzzing!!!
Good work, as always! Can’t wait to see these flowering.
Me too!
You need that contrast! Love that color!
I think so too!

Those are both beautiful beautiful vines. I hope they stay healthy for you this year
Definitely appreciate the lesson on pruning. Love watching!
Glad to hear it!
Hppy spring gardening with you guys.
It feels so nice getting outside!
I preordered 6 pm dr. Ruppel. They are going on a white vinyl fence with Pinkie Winkys hydrangeas. I’m so excited! Mi. Zone 6a
That is going to be incredible! I just looked at pictures of the Ruppel. I love it
Great video! Have you ever ordered from Brushwood Nursery, which specializes in clematis? Amazing quality and their packaging for shipping is superior. Their website is great as well.
Yes!! That is where our Betty Corning came from
This is perfect! I just moved two of them on my garden! 🙏🏽
This is going to be a really fun year for ours.
Roll the black paint on the wire. Lay the wire flat, roll the black paint, let it dry and do the other side. Voila.
I didn't even consider that as an option. hahaha. I'm sure there is some rustoleum paint I can grab! Thank you!
Great video as always and very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it

Well that's no fun that they don't look good by July... some of ours won't even bloom by then!
Ps i got the generous gardener last yr looking forward to learning how to prune it too!!!
Wonderful!
❤❤❤

From what I have read, if they have the big flowers it is likely that they are group 2. You should be all set!
Eric, one of those “clematis” variations definitely sounded like an STD. 🤣
100%. Hahaha
I wonder how much oyster shell raises pH. I saw on one of your videos you were hoping to get your hydrangeas blue. I wouldn’t use this anywhere near them. ❤love your videos!
That's the goal!! We add aluminum sulfate to get the blooms headed toward blue

haha ok I'll share it early with you. It's 374 liters total (from the website)....I would go with roughly 7 of the 2 cubic ft bags for a a 2x8.

You got it!! I haven't opened up a Castine yet... but the Bar Harbor smells SO good
Where do u get the large landscaping rock near the patio , clematis?
The pieces in the lawn are actually broken flagstone we got from a friend

Those are Winter Gem Boxwoods. There are a few tiny ones in front of the originals, I'm hoping they start growing so I can make a cloud too!
@@growformegardening I love that look will be watchingbfor sure. Happy Gardening
Thanks!
You pronounce clematis rúútel , rootle ❤
I love that
