You are both so fortunate to have a spouse that thoroughly enjoys gardening. My husband will help me garden whenever I ask him, but he doesn’t have the same passion that I have. I wish you a lifetime of gardening together!
Good morning my gardening buddies, this video was five months ago but I am enjoying it again, I enjoy you both so much and your garden, my Mount Hood daffodils are in bud, two months earlier than usual here in Northern Virginia. This coming week will be quite mild here, will be out in full force in the garden😃 continuing to prune the hydrangeas, have a great day!
I love Mount Hoods! I meant to put some in this past Fall. I will definitely try to do that next season. We haven't seen anything popping out of the ground yet thankfully. Our season has been mild...but pretty up and down!
I am in love with your videos, it's such a great way for me to start my day! You both are so positive and have the same passion for gardening ! 💜💜 Everything looks wonderful.
Love the metal edging! We found that spreading Milorganite (it's a pelleted type fertilizer) on the grass all around our gardens and the deer and bunnies avoid it! We can get it at the big box stores now. It's been found to be a legit deer repellent. Great price point and the effects last several weeks.
I am laughing with you guys the entire time. Too funny! Not only do I enjoy your garden, I am tickled with the chemistry and laughter you boys share. ❤❤ thank you for making these videos to uplift us viewers :)
After watching your video on/about hydrangeas I realized that our one bush has mites. Thank you for sharing information on how to treat them. I love learning from others🌻 Resources where we’re located are limited, it’s great to be able to watch and learn from others. Thank you again🌻🌻
Oh my gosh, you guys are such awesome gardeners and I loved your videos. This only my second video to watch of yours but I’m joining your channels because I cannot believe all the inspiration you’re giving me in this video. You guys expert landscapers I cannot believe it. What do you put together in this garden so much for sharing it with us. Hugs and kisses from grandma, Sandy, and Debbie.
"Backseat digger" lol, You guys crack me up. Enjoyed this episode. keep it up. Lovin' it. You're so good at this! The mini mauvette is beautiful in color, i purchased 3 and none survived, I don't know what I could have done differently.
Yay!! Was waiting for the video after seeing on Insta that they were planted. Absolutely love the way you do hedges with gorgeous specimens around your yard. Gives it such beautiful structure. You guys are an absolute pleasure to watch. Thank you! 🌿❤
The spray is going to make your lives SO much easier in a year or so. I am on my 3rd year of using it and am down to 2 applications - one in spring & one in summer. I also spray newly planted deer-delicious plants once after planting, just in case. I have had NO DEER this year!!! They magically skirt around my beds & shrubs. BTW, I live in the middle of a forest on a mountain top where deer are everywhere (but not in my flower beds!). Hang in there. A little retching now will bring flower heaven in the future!
Good good morning to you both. It's Bunny from Pennsylvania. My morning coffee and you.....what could be better? Do you know that your videos are perfect? You tell us details and facts with tips and tricks you have learned over time. Well, I could go on....and on and on! lol Thank you for sharing. ❤💛💚💜💙💛❤
Nice gloves. I am so glad I got some this year. Love where you moved the hydrangea to be with its friends. Look so nice. Love the new hydrangeas, tuff-stuff, too.
You two find the most beautiful plants for your gardens. My hubby likes curb appeal but does not like to help or make decisions. I love the hydrangeas you have chosen. Wow, I am anxious to see your things next spring. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.
Incredible working in the garden in 70% humidity! Glad you received free hydrangeas as we know how costly shrubs can be. Will be waiting to see how they do in our 5b zone
Wonderful video! You are so blessed to be able to get your hands on such beautiful hydrangeas. Can’t wait to see them blooming next year. Thanks for bringing us along.
Have you guys tried Tuff stuff ah-ha? I’ve been so amazed by this variety, I’m in zone 8b (England) so we aren’t that cold but I planted one in a pot and cut it right back to nothing and it is already on its 2nd bloom cycle, all blooms are new wood! In fact my photo is of that hydrangea. It’s bloomed purple and blue on the same plant. Just a suggestion if you want that true blue and a reliable variety! The garden looks so lush and clean, you’re both doing a great job! Have a great day 😊
As others have said, it's great that you both can share a love of gardening. My husband will pick up my plant orders without hesitation, so I'm happy for at least that! I just planted Serendipity Allium after seeing it in your garden-- can't wait for it to bloom next year! I'm trying to plant more natives, so this weekend I'll be putting in 3 New Jersey Tea shrubs and will be looking forward to all of the pollinators, in particular the Azure Butterfly, as it's one of their larval host plants. I've also had nice tea made from the dried leaves, so I'll be doing that too. Thanks for your content! 😊
I don’t blame you for not wanting to nurse that weigela. I’m just learning and through a lot of trial and error, trying to bring a plant back to total health sometimes isn’t worth it. If it is going to continue struggle, I let it go
Gorgeous additions to the garden. It's gonna look beautiful next year ♡ Those pesky deer! Can you believe they choose the Hydrangeas to nibbel on (I have moose eating mine, ugh - Canada) I smiled, seeing your dirty knees - in true garden spirit ♡
What's a beautiful flower garden !Can you tell us how you start the soil foundation n whats kind of soil you guys use for all your floeers beds n fertilizer ...thank you so much.
You guys are a lot of fun. I was wondering what is that salvia looking thing that was left after you took out the rockin' salvia? Is that one perennial?
Omg this channel is great!! “Do you need help with that??” NOOOOO 🥵😬😵💫 🤣🤣🤣 lmaoo this is me and my husband all the time. Love how comical and down to earth you guys are, also wow your gardens are fabulous! I just bought 3 Sublimes on clearance and stoked to do a sublime/verbena combination planting under/ in front of my huge old fashioned purple lilacs and eastern redbuds 😍 ETA: does your verbena bonariensis just reseed or do you start new every year? I assume it doesn’t just come back?
That will be stunning! Oh it reseeds quite a lot. I don't grow it from seed anymore because it is so easy to pop the many seedlings up and move them around. They are very easy to get rid of so there is no worry about the garden being overrun
Another great video!!! I notice you don't have any landscape fabric under your plants correct? Just soil and compost? Does the grass try to grow through?
You two are running out of gardening space. Love your spacing hack with the precut dowels. I will be interested to see if the new and improved tuff stuff reblooms. I am in 5b as well and my Tuff Stuff hasn't rebloomed in years.
I'm loving these planting hydrangea videos. I love the Tuff Stuff series and will definitely be buying these new ones when they are available. Thank you for sharing, love your channel
Loved this! I planted 5 Let’s Dance Lovable - 2024 PW a couple weeks ago fingers crossed! Question on Roses, I’m also an Heirloom Roses addict - How do you overwinter them in your garden? Thank you! 👩🏻🌾Anne from 5B Illinois
That will be amazing!! I like to cut the roses back a little and pull away any leaves that don't fall off. Then I give them a big scoop of compost right on the crown. That's it! This winter I may do some spraying for deer just because I don't want them getting carried away!
I’m new to your channel and immediately flipped over your garden video “LateAugust Full Garden Tour”2wks ago- (that I am watching today)and had to search for you and add you to my listings to obsess over! If I could ask you a quick question- Where did you find your crushed marble/ crushed granite at? I’ve not heard of that and would love to add it to my yard! Thank you much have a good one😊
The gravel was brought in by the company that built the terrace last year. It's really nice, just a little more jagged so you don't sink like on a playground.
So how many hydrangeas does that make in your yard? I told my husband you had over 100 hydrangeas and then showed him your yard. He said he thought it would be a yard full of just hydrangeas. He is impressed too.
You are both so fortunate to have a spouse that thoroughly enjoys gardening. My husband will help me garden whenever I ask him, but he doesn’t have the same passion that I have. I wish you a lifetime of gardening together!
We definitely feel lucky!

I am in 5b and I just received my 3 gallon sublime, I will be planting tomorrow! so excited, thank you for posting this video.
Wonderful!
I love your yard!! It's so beautiful and tidy!! Great job guys!!👏👏
Thanks so much! 😊

You guys are so funny. !!! Love your videos and you make a great team.

Tuff stuff in a row looks perfect 👍
They look so happy!!
"Now you're with your friends!" 😂

@@growformegardening YES! It trains them to avoid where they remember the scent was located even when it's not there! Like I said, magic 🪄!

We've also heard that some plants that get super stressed hold on to that and always languish. It can be better to let it go and start fresh
I like the idea of having pre-measured dowels to help with plant spacing, it would work so much better then fighting with a measuring tape!
100%!!!!

Yuck!!!

We are just planting in native soil...adding some Biotone starter fertilizer and maybe compost. That's really it.
Beautiful!
Thank you!

That’s a bald cypress!

No landscape fabric.... so yes the grass can try to creep through. We keep up on it and it seems to be keeping at bay.

We didn’t protect them and they died back to the ground after the winter. They have put on some growth and are flowering but they are tiny

The liquid fence didn’t help too much with my tomatoes and melons this year 😢 the deer and rabbits still took to them.
Oh I don't know if I could put it on the tomatoes.... I feel like that smell would be stuck in them. haha
I would be using a ruler and my husband would be saying it’s fine

So how many hydrangeas does that make in your yard? I told my husband you had over 100 hydrangeas and then showed him your yard. He said he thought it would be a yard full of just hydrangeas. He is impressed too.
I think it's around 111 right now. haha
What grass was aggressive for you?
It was a vareigated forest grass of some variety. It traveled really quick.
Gentlemen, we LV your serrated tip hand trowel!! Where did you get it from, Pls?
That was a Gardener's Supply Company find. I really like it
Is it still okay to plant hydrangeas in mid October?
We don't like to plant anything within six weeks of the ground freezing.
I heard Erin the impatient gardener mention you
Oh! Which video was that. I am a few behind!
How come you don’t hydrate (sink them in a bucket of water)the hydrangeas before you plant them?
We've actually never done that before, except for bare root roses. It would be a good idea when we plant in summer!
With all the rain we've been having this summer, I don't water in new plantings so deeply. Don't want to drown them or rot their roots.
💙👍🏻💙
