This was a super fun video. I am always struck by how few weeds you have in your garden. I would love to hear how you manage weeds in a future video. I think your Groundcover strategy is good, so maybe that is one of your secrets. Plus hard work, I suspect. Thanks for the instruction in this one - super helpful.

The secret for us has been the Hula Hoe. I think it's also called a loop hoe. We just carry it around and take after a little bit here and there

Glad to see you guys got the small chainsaw. Dewalt makes awesome tools. I just used mine on “pruning “ all the broken branches from our latest dumping of heavy snow (27”). Not what I planned on, but nature obviously had different intentions.

lol. such an excessive tool for the task, but I 100% agree with cutting those babies back! I sat through a whole summer, leaving mine large and spindley, cut it down to the ground the following spring and was SHOCKED at how quickly it recovered and the beautiful foliage it produced. Well done!

I will be sitting on the side of the chair this Spring and Summer waiting to see the progress on your shrubs. I used to live in CNY and had a larger smoke bush that I took down to about 2 feet. It had been sending up a lot of tall whip-like branches. Anyways, it never seemed to grow right afterwards and I was always pruning it. Alas, it died (I suspect I had something to do with that). : )
