I could not agree more!! I often take screen shots of plants I might want to add to my garden and I sometimes forget to add the names in the caption. That is never a problem on the Grow for Me channel and I find I take lots of screen shots here because they showcase so many beautiful plants! 💚
I love your videos & I'm excited to see your hydrangea room in full bloom! I became a first-time homeowner in September '23, you guys inspired me to plant hydrangeas in my front flowerbed last fall. Now, three out of the five are beginning to sprout. 🥳Spring, is that you?
14:40 Christopher's face when he said who needs grass 😊😇 The new curving lines look great! The dry creek bed idea will be a really wonderful addition there, the river birch is such a pretty tree in winter!
Placing the brick under the fence is a great idea. My neighbours don't cut their grass or weed, so I have difficulty keeping up with their weed in the edge of my garden *sigh*
So that’s who’s been (probably) eating my lilacs! They just never seem to fill. We went and bought that deer spray you talked about in one of your videos and the sprayer that can be carried on our back (well, my wife’s back; my back still isn’t healed from a T12/L3 compression fracture in Feb.), We’re having a chicken wire fence built next week because I’m so frustrated with our little “visitors” using our garden as an “all you can eat Atlantic City buffet - David Rose”!
I always take something away from your videos! I must have the taper. Still thinking hard about adding a Clematis to my climbing rose, I jotted down Betty Corning Clematis to research. Also looking for something blue in my fence border bed, so looking forward to seeing and hearing about the blue spruce hybrid you’re getting. 😊
I wish I could share the potted plants I just named in honor of your channel! You both have taught me so much! Maybe I will try and message them to you!
Your garden just looks stunning!!! I look forward to each and every one of your videos - I am constantly inspired to try new things in my own Cape Cod garden. Thank you!!!
@@growformegardening That is amazing. It is so much fun. If you need a place to stay, please let me know. Or if I can help with any recommendations, I would love to help. I am heading up to Poland NY in July, and have put the garden center Faddegons on my stop list. I loved your Christmas visit there.
Hi Guys! That was such a clever idea w the 3 trillis supported on the vinyl fence hook.. why didn’t I think of that?!! I have a 9 ft trillis, also zip tied together against my fence. I laid tall heavy cement blocks in front of it with heavy potted plants to support up instead. Love your channel & garden. Such creative inspirational ideas! ❤❤
Tiny tidbit.... Pruned my double orange flowering quince two weeks ago and brought the branches in to see if they would bloom. I now have beautiful stems on my mantle which are blooming a creamy pale peach color! They are absolutely beautiful!!!!! So happy.
Im always in awe of how quickly my gardens change. This time of year its daily. Im also in 5b/6a coastal southern maine..winter was really odd this year. I have a celery plant that overwintered! My fall mums from my favorite nursery overwintered. I seem to have lost a few echinacea .. which is weird.. although they could still come up.. lost a wigelia, a baptista and pretty sure my butterfly bush is dead. I always loose a few.. but these few suprised me. Oh I also FINALLY overwintered heather! One of my favorites that I usually by as an annual.. they just dont like our winter. I have a bunch of columbine that has spread, my Mondara is growing like gang busters.. I was actually pulling creeping Jenny and didn’t recognize the mondara in places I found it coming up.. so exciting!! I may have even pulled some with the creeping Jenny (DONT plant this 😂) Hummingbirds love it! Your gardens are stunning! I just love everything about them! Look forward to seeing it grow thru the season! Happy Gardening!
Looking forward to seeing those expanded beds getting filled up. You asked about a solution to keep neighbors' grass from growing under the fence. I was just looking at Edge Right website for Cor-Ten metal edging for MY yard. The 4' sections come in 6" and 8" depths. Serious teeth on that product. 😁
You guys have been busy, especially reconfiguring beds. I love the curves you've added. Your garden looks really pretty, despite the wildlife pressure you have. I have deer, rabbits, squirrels, moles, sometimes voles, and slugs and snails.
So happy to see your garden from the beginning of spring this year. It’s such joy and inspiration. Going to Skye Hydrangea event this weekend so excited to learn from her.
Awesome drone footage🎉love your idea of the hooks on fence for3 the trellis and that max tapener fast & easy so good!. New Plants selectios are beautiful can't wait to see the new planters thanks again for this tour💚🌱😊🌄
@10:00 Grass growing underneath the fence... We make clay bricks (we have red clay about 8 inches down) and fill the holes to the top of the fence. The are porous so they drain and don't hurt the fence. We also put flashing about 18 inches vertically so critters don't dig underneath and go into the orchard, market, veg and potager gardens. So, you do what I do... yeah!
Oh i cant wait to see the dwarf blur juniper!! One of my favorites & I plan to add one to my landscape this yr🥰 thank you guys for putting this tour together!!
The edging really looks great guys! I use brick under my fence, it works holding back the grass. Unfortunately, it will not hold back aggressive root systems, such as, raspberry bushes(my particular yearly battle) or most ground covers. I hope the deer leave your Philadelphus alone so you can smell the glorious scent. You'll love it!
Very exciting seeing everything coming in, it's going to be beautiful!! I have a Mock Orange that was here when we moved in and the flowers smell amazing enjoy!
One video from y’all and now I can’t get any of my evening chores done bc I have to go back and look at y’all old videos🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️I love you guys! Can’t wait to see the hydrangeas!!!!
When Eric was pruning the hydrangeas he saw some branches had been pinned down to the ground. They had set roots...so we potted them up and put them under the grow lights.
Hi It’s great to see so many plants waking up. Christopher- you mentioned you’d love to have a pink Black Eyed Susan, I’ve just purchased two Thunbergia Rose Sensation to grow up some trellis in my garden. I hope you manage to get one ( r more as one plant is never enough 😂)
It will be fun to see how your garden progresses! I am not proud of my answer to the question of the day; grass under your fence; it was a combination of a trimmer and round up. I would kill an area ( slim strip) under the fence. This was in Illinois. I now live in NY where we only have decorative fence ( very little amount of fencing) and invisible mot necessary.
I have a question. Do you find rabbits eat your roses year round? I am just getting into roses since last spring and I have chicken wire around all of them. Will there be a day where my garden can look nice with no wire? Lol or am I at the mercy of those monsters?
Oh they are always annoying. For roses I find the spring the worst time though. We have a big roll of black chicken wire to start wrapping with. The black makes it much less noticeable
My rabbits ignore my roses because they have a buffet of tulips, hosta and heuchera 😂. Oh and they chewed hydrangea and rose of sharon baby seedlings right to the ground and killed them over the winter 😢.
When Eric was pruning the hydrangeas he saw some branches had been pinned down to the ground. They had set roots...so we potted them up and put them under the grow lights. No humidity dome, just let them wake up as they like.
Again, need to comment on how very much i appreciate showing the names of all your plants! Thank you for being this precise for us.
I could not agree more!! I often take screen shots of plants I might want to add to my garden and I sometimes forget to add the names in the caption. That is never a problem on the Grow for Me channel and I find I take lots of screen shots here because they showcase so many beautiful plants! 💚
Yes i do too APPRECIATE💚
I'm trying to keep up with it. I think it's helpful
Thanks.... I'll be honest, in a few weeks we have our big shipments of plants coming. My fingers will be on fire from adding all the names!!!! hahaha
:)
Love the aerial shots! Looks fantastic!! It’s amazing what you have accomplished in a relatively short amount of time. Very inspiring❤
Thanks a ton!

That is awesome!

Definitely one of the best trees we have
Wee White & Bobo are our 2 smallest Hydrangeas in 5b/6a, west suburban Chicago.
We love them both! Tiny Quick Fire is our tiniest. It's really cute
The rabbits decimated all of my spirea. My largest one too. Your garden is at the same stage as mine. Exciting times
Those boogers
Placing the brick under the fence is a great idea. My neighbours don't cut their grass or weed, so I have difficulty keeping up with their weed in the edge of my garden *sigh*
It helps a little

haha! I'm glad you are trying the spray. It may be the worst thing I have ever smelled but it seems to be working
Spring is wonderful! The way you guys can recite every single plant/shrub/tree is amazing!! ❤
We might have trouble after planting starts.... there is a lot coming!

I chose Betty because it was recommended by Brushwood Nursery. Look them up!
Brushwood Nursery sent amazing healthy clematis. I will use them again!

That's a wonderful idea. It's a great way to clean up wayward branches and not lose the flowers!

ooh that's a lot. We have been stuffing bricks in front of the grass with moderate success.
The curves in the garden bed and lawn as you walk from hydrangea room into the back is impeccable ❤❤❤❤ I loooove it
I'm very proud of that swoop
Your yard is beautiful. Thank you for the tour. Also I appreciate you providing the names of the plants and shrubs you talk about.

I’d love to know how you root your hydrangea cuttings. I’d love to try that.

Your so good at doing everything, love watching you both ,from Scotland so feel your pain with garden wake but looks like we’re ahead of you 🥰
It's so exciting
you guys are great

Hi
It’s great to see so many plants waking up. Christopher- you mentioned you’d love to have a pink Black Eyed Susan, I’ve just purchased two Thunbergia Rose Sensation to grow up some trellis in my garden. I hope you manage to get one ( r more as one plant is never enough 😂)
ooh where did you find them?!
I’m in the UK so maybe easier to get here?
maybe. I found some on Etsy but they were a bit pricey for my liking. They grow so easily from seed, I'll keep looking
Remind me what the stick/pocker is in your garden to deter deer and rabbits. You mentioned it before and I can’t find it. Thanks
Wireless Deer Fence

I would kill an area ( slim strip) under the fence. This was in Illinois. I now live in NY where we only have decorative fence ( very little amount of fencing) and invisible mot necessary.
I'm not opposed! We have a bunch of bricks that we are stuffing up against the fence. At least it will hold it back until the hydrangeas shade them
I have a question.
I have the exact same issue. I planted most of my roses in the same area and surrounded them with a small black fence. They can’t jump it.
@growformegardening thanks! Those buggers also ate half of one of my korean lilacs this winter too! Now I have to fence that off! Grr
My rabbits ignore my roses because they have a buffet of tulips, hosta and heuchera 😂. Oh and they chewed hydrangea and rose of sharon baby seedlings right to the ground and killed them over the winter 😢.
Jerks!
How about some Peach Drift Roses in the newly expanded area along the back? They get 1 1/2' h x 2' w 😁
I do love a peach rose. It will have to be a consideration
You need a border of tree peonies
If I try to add one more peony he’s going to kick my butt
@@growformegardening apologize later hehe
I like how you think
Is a fence to keep the deer out on the agenda or is that not allowed due to HOA or other regulations? Love watching your space grow.
We have considered it... but it would be very expensive and a LOT of plants to move
I'm thinking about a Kintzley's ghost. Do you love it? Would it do well on a tall obelisk?
It would do very well on an obelisk. It’s a very unique color.
When did take your cutting? Did you put a dome for humidity on your cutting with artificial lights?
When Eric was pruning the hydrangeas he saw some branches had been pinned down to the ground. They had set roots...so we potted them up and put them under the grow lights. No humidity dome, just let them wake up as they like.
It really is an exciting time of year!!! Don't get me started on neighbors yuck creeping over!!!
hahaha
