The more I watch Maxwell, the more I love this guy. Bro gym lifters won’t understand him. I would not like him when I was 20 years old. At age 47, I understand him and I’m watching every video with him now. He’s telling the truth. No bro science. It’s might be that the way I’ve worked out since I was 30 really mirrors what he’s talking about already.
I hear you man. When I was younger I was like "more fucking plates". Now I am doing his baby roll workouts and sticking with light weight kettlebells and I feel a thousand times better. The philosophy change of exercising to prevent injury as opposed to wondering how bad I would get injured with heavy weights. it is pretty amazing and I feel so much better now.
@@davidfoxwuppertal best tip is you only get so big from Maxwell. I’ve benched in the 500’s and squatted up to 480#s. My whole focus was get stronger to get big. I was so focused on the strength aspect I did even think of micro traumas to joints. But I was smart enough when I started getting into the injury cycle to stop the insanity. Everyone I know who has any size at my age 49 has serious joint issues. I don’t and I’m bigger than them just doing push-ups, pull ups, dips, curls, skull crushers, military press, bodyweight squats. Back to the you only get so big thing. Most guys including myself peak after 5-7 years of training. Maxwell says 3 years. Most guys will not monitor their diets and gain more fat that muscle. Most think they are 10-20#s from abs when it’s really 70+#s. All that extra body fat once you lose it you’ll wind up to a point in your diet you lose almost as much muscle as fat. So it’s a good idea to never be more than a few pounds from abs as the extra fat isn’t worth the squeeze in the long run. When I’m cut I look skinny even with 18” arms. But take my shirt off and wow! Here’s the secret to strength. Say you’re not good at pull ups. The secret is to use a stop watch and time your rest periods. For pull ups or any other heavy lift use 3 minute rest periods. As the reps drop, go to 4 minute rest periods. Why? Well Pubmed had a study. 3 minute rest is optimum they found for strength and size. The reason is larger muscle groups recover faster than the smaller supporting groups. So if you go fast your smaller muscle groups hold you back. I’ve experiments with 30 second, 1 minute, 2 minute, and 3 and 4 minute rests. 3-4 my strength went up like crazy as judged by the first set of my following workout. I injured a nerve in my right forearm two years ago. I was stuck at 6 pull-ups using 1 minute rests for six months. I easily do 10-12 reps after a month of 3-4 minute rest cycles. Gotta use a stop watch, ipad, or phone. Try it, you’ll see big progress.
I'm pretty lucky. I stumbled into his stuff at age 27 and took it to heart. I'm much healthier now - tendinitis alleviated, lower back pain gone, and my joints are healthy. Building for the long term.
flouride and chlorine in our drinking water competes and depletes with iodine absorbency which is causing sluggish thyroids all over the US. its also the chemcials in foods and pesticides. but flouride is definitely a problem due to iodine deficiency!!
I'm 22 and I have been experimenting with fasting for about 3 years now. Nowadays, I am actually quite adapted to fasted training and actually perform my best training in the mornings fasted.
+Jake Draper Hi, glad you liked it. I do intermittent fasting - 16 hours of fasting and 8 hours of eating every day. Some times maybe I'll go without food for a bit more , like 20 hours but nothing extreme like Steve :)
