      which noctua cases did you use?

  • @nabiljemel2838
    @nabiljemel2838 ปีที่แล้ว +64

    After a 6 months of research I have decided to build an AMD system using the same case, and I have few learnings : I opted for the Ryzen 7900 because of the 60 Watt TDP and 12 cores: a good compromise for gaming and productivity. I replaced the default cooler master fans with Noctua ones. I plan to install an ASUS strix graphic card. since the Asus Motherboard comes with only two fan headers (1 cpu and one case) the Asus strix graphic card has two additional fan headers. There is room in the bottom of the case for two additional slim 12 cm fans. The negative aspects : the power supply does not have the new 12V connection for graphic cards, the case is still a bit bigger than I expected. Without a graphic card installed the case is already generating too much heat. There is no way I am leaving this thing on my desk. Also it is too small to put under my desk, I will need a small table for it. I believe the best computer is the one you do not realize it exists (silent cool and hidden)… update : I was planning to pair this with an Asus strix 4070 ti, now hearing about the issue with future games needing more vram I put this on hold. There is room in front of the case for two 2.5 inch ssd, my plan so far is two m2 ( Os, sw, games) and two 2.5 inch ssd in raid 1 for DATA. This makes the ideal portable gaming workstation PC.

      How the hell your MOBO is not burnt down yet? Do you live in colder region ? I got into micro PC build after seeing rise of handheld gaming consoles and loved the idea of having powerful but portable machine . Can anybody tell me is it safe to build such tiny builds ? I live in very hot climate. So please suggest me is it good idea to go for such build.

    • @nabiljemel2838
      @nabiljemel2838 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bendover-bz4bc I think it all has to do with how much cooling and air flow the case has. I opted for low power components : Ryzen 7900 and Nvidia 4070 ti , the case has also good air flow if you do not use the glass panel. I have also added two 12 cm Noctua exhaust fans on the bottom of the case in Addition to the existing AIO with two 14 cm fans as exhaust on the top of the case. The MOBO runs round 50 deg and the CPU round 70 deg max.

    The RTX 4080 isn't sitting leveled in that case. It is definitely weighted down on the unsupported end. I would make a custom bracket or leg (3D Print) so that it is less tension on the other end. They should've added mounting screws to the the PCI-Ex riser, that would've eliminated this issue.

Also those temps are crazy low. I'm very curious what they'll be with higher ambient temp and of course how it will perform with those extra slim fans on the bottom of the case. you should check your 980 pro SSD firmware version because there is a version that "corrupts" the chip and when a certain threshold is reached the chip goes into a read only mode without the ability to repair it. and then its useless and your windows will crash constantly. Just make sure to, if not already, update your drives firmware using samsung magician to the newest and you are safe.

    I just built an AMD AM5 PC recently. Since there has been a lot of praises (which lured me go all in AMD), let me share some negative experience so that you can think twice before you go all in as well. 1) By default, enabling DDR5@6000Mhz makes the boot time very slow (from power on to finishing POST, 20s-5minutes depending on your settings). So prepare to play with BIOS versions and options such as Memory Context Restore (MCR) to find a stable configuration. 2) AMD software is a pain. The Ryzen Master is the official app for tweaking CPU voltages. But it won't launch for me even on a fresh Win 11 installation (incl. updates and drivers.) There is no useful error info for the users to investigate or even seek help. No support on AMD's support forum. 3) Heat. I'm using noctua nh-d15 fans for cooling. By default, even opening TH-cam makes the fans crazy loud. I ended up enabling ECO mode so that the CPU does not engage so aggressively. Note the motherboard does not have a ECO mode out-of-the box, and I had to upgrade the BIOS, which was also a pain.
    You may be able to find a solution or a work around to mitigate the issues, but it take extra time, effort, and luck to research and to try.

    @PMuis ปีที่แล้ว

    I must be doing something wrong. I'm getting 86 C with the Ryzen 7600X. I have reseated and repasted the CPU twice now. Still with cinebench going instantly to 86 C and staying there. Using the NR200P MAX as well

    • @Steror
      @Steror ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PMuis Hi, I was surprised to see his cinebench all core temp at close to 70C while mine is hovering at 87C. Then I looked at his CPU Package Power - it is maxing out at 72W while mine is at 80W which means he is using eco mode or undervolting.
      So I think you're just pushing more power and getting more performance out of your CPU. But if you wish, you can also undervolt.
      Also, your CPU is programmed to thermal throttle closer to 95C (you can check in HWInfo64 if you are power or thermal limited). So I think your temperatures are completely fine :)
      When I enable EXPO I get into 85W territory and my CPU throttles at 89C. Setting manual voltage helps to reduce that down to 86C. From what I saw in reviews, there is still some performance on the table if I had a better cooler, but it's minimal. A 280mm AIO is already very good plus it's summer here, in winter there is potential to have better performance.

      Try fitting a 280mm AiO and a 4090 graphics card in a Terra and you’ll see. The cooling performance of this case puts the Terra to shame. Also, this NR200P Max case has higher build quality since the Terra has problems with panel gaps. Last but not least, this has room for two 2.5” drives.
      Basically, I wouldn’t pick the Terra over this unless you really like its aesthetics/colours and want to build a modest system.

    Idk if the motherboard had an aio pump header? Supposedly connecting the pump to the cpu fan header makes the life of the pump shorter due to it alternating pump speeds according to cpu temps rather than always running at a steady pace when connected to the aio pump header. I would love the 7800X3D and a 4070ti, but they too expensive :/

    Might be a silly question... but why does the link for the RAM take you to the Intel XMP variant of the Corsair Dominator Platinum instead of the AMD Expo? I also find it odd that this was never specified in the video because if you order Intel based RAM for a AMD based build (or vice versa) the PC will not work.
