We used Google Maps and fed that data into the game to make 100% accurate street maps for True Crime LA and NYC. For NY I got to direct Darth Maul (AKA) Ray Parks to do all the mocap for fighting styles you could buy.
That's awesome. I forget how long Google maps has been around. I was trying to think how it would have been done in 2005, but google maps of course. It's also awesome to have someone who worked on the game comment on my video. Gonna pin this comment.
These games meant a lot to me in my childhood. I was able to play the True Crime titles because my mom was reluctant to let me play the Grand Theft Auto titles😅. Thanks for the nostalgia!
LmaO at your NY accent attempt. Loved this game on the Xbox. It felt more polished than the PS2 version. Using your own music on the Xbox also was way better.
Sleeping dogs turn out to be the third game, which we all know was True Crime: Hong Kong. But before that, it was going to be called True Crime: False Justice.....
i love the true crime games i still play these classics on my original xbox sleeping dogs was badass too i still play that game on my 360 slim cool video man
This game was a staple of my childhood me and my cousin would play for hours on end in our old basement it’s always had a unique charm. Great video subscriber earned.
Great review. I liked the editing. When you were listing some of the features of this game like closed stores opening up if you clear enough crime, the IDing yourself to other cops while undercover and things like that sound awesome. There's modern games today that don't even do a lot of this. This game is pretty ahead of it's time.
There were a lot of really good ideas in this games. It's the small things that really add to the experience. Great game. Glad you liked the review. More to come sometime soon.
Dude, I remember rocking up to a convenience store in my Limo with a personalised registration plate. Upon entering the store there seemed to be a criminal attempting to steal something, so naturally I whipped out my double bladed staff and proceeded to dismember the peep before he could get away. Amazing game.
Your video just popped up on my home page and man, just from the opening I knew it was going to be a great video, that retro vibe is so awesome bro. Keep up the good work 🤙
@@ANobodyReviewsGames-wm9gg Yup, I was happy to see the review pop up. I actually got my copy of it out after your gameplay video and played it for a while. It was as good (and buggy lol) as I remembered it being.
This game is where I was introduced to Beetlejuice (the dude that goes on Howard Stern) and I always liked that, in the beginning, Marcus puts in ear plugs before the shootout in the house. A detail that’s really not in video games.
"True Crime NY" was my favorite "GTA" competitor until "Sleeping Dogs" aka Really True Crime Hong Kong.....taking down the "Magdelena Cartel"...."The Presidents Crew" & "Chinese Triads".was such as blast....The best part after watching an opening cutscenes & police training that seem to last forever....The game throw you in your street clothes which is your signature leather bomber jacket & your hoodie....baggy jeans & sneaks as a undercover detective....note, I remember how it's important to solve street crimes so you can keep your rank as detective. Make too many mistakes or too many crimes failed equals demotion to street beat in cop uniform blues ...this game aged very well & I wouldn't be mad if they made a remaster version of this game..... 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Haha True Crime. I remember me and my older brother trying to scheme a way to get GTA Vice City (we had strict parents), and we ended up with True Crime LA lol. And then later in about 6th grade I had seen True Crime NY looked way cooler, and the girl I had liked told me this sorta tough kid "Willie" had it on his PS3 and "maybe if you ask Willie he'll let you play it", I always thought that was just such a weird thing to suggest.
One of my all time favorite games street of la is also one of my favorite games too but new york is the better game but i love both games equally they have that Cool action movie feel to it that I love as a big action movie Fan
One of these days I will have to play through Streets of L.A. It definitely had a good John Woo/Martial Arts movie feel to it. I guess I come off as a little too critical of it in the video
I still need to play through the original Mercenaries. I own it on the Xbox. I really liked Mercenaries 2, even though a lot of people found it to be disappointing. I've got so many games, and so little time, but one day, I'll play through Mercenaries.
That's a good question. Activision dropped the trademark, but they possibly still own the rights to the series. They were making a 3rd one which Activision cancelled, but later was picked up and released as Sleeping Dogs. It's hard to say if anyone still owns the rights to these games, or if the license has been abandoned
@@ANobodyReviewsGames-wm9gg If no one owns the rights anymore then maybe some talented fans can do remasters of this game & LA to fix their biggest issues & bring them up to or close to modern standards.
Sleeping Dogs is the “sequel” to the True Crime series so if you can get your hands on that it’s amazing. Has a lot of that vibe while being up rendered on series x.
You are welcome, a lot of it is because I don't have the talent to do sich things. Lol. Plus, I find them annoying anyway. I like making simple, straightforward reviews. The meme snippets are also literally snippets of movies, and if I've learned anything about DMCA on TH-cam, just because the movie companies let it slide now, it doesn't mean they always will. If they ever crack down on it, you'll see thousands of channels disappear overnight. I don't even like borrowing footage from other channels except my own channels. I don't play when it comes to copyright.
grow up playing on the ps2 and oh Xbox had both games in the series. When I became adult and bought an GameCube to add to collection had to add the GameCube version as well.
@@ThiskidKnowledge That sounds like a crappy situation. Was he on drugs or something, or was he just a money obsessed jerk? That's a pretty low-life thing to do to a kid.
I've got the Xbox version, arguably the best version in terms of performance and visuals... yet the game is impossible to finish the last mission due to a coding error. Imagine buying this at the full RRP and not being able to finish it? I got it for £2 complete, and it's at worth that. Ambitious, but fundamentally broken and rushed for release.
I had heard there were worse glitches in the Xbox version, but I didn't realize it was a game-ending glitch. I guess the best thing you can do with that is use the cheat codes to unlock everything else. That's a pretty big oversight in the part of the QA testers.
Are there any mods with fixes or patches anywhere out there? I know it's an old game, but I would figure there would be at least someone dedicated enough to make some modded improvements to the PC port.

It’s sad LA is the more popular game. NY was way better.
Because there was no improvement in the graphics department...If anything one could say it got worse

How to make it run smooth on the pcsx2 emulator because it laggy on mines?
