I have been brooding for a while how there was no kit or RTR with simple transmission and detailed licensed body (and portals), I like 80s chevys so this is perfect
I just bought the base camp , never fails when I get something they come out with a different body , oh well , maybe they will make the body available if it fits the last base camp chassis , great videos , please keep them coming , I love to see what you are getting into and new products
Not sure why it isn’t done box stock but with a couple of aluminum spacers you can move that stubby battery plate up in front of the lcxu trans. The ears of the original 10 III transmount are still present and near a direct fit.
Best cold intro ever. Also looks like a great truck but I think I’m now more interested in getting that body for my old school monster truck rebuild. Great content as usual.
@@brodynyhof3054 interesting. Mine is actually on 2.2s and a Highlift chassis. I was thinking about using a traxxas Bigfoot body because that body was smaller than my clod.
I agree about the body pins but what i feel would look better is just move the body pins forward abd out to about center of the head lights make them look like hood pin
The truck looks great, i too reallylike the stepside bed. Chevy made the square body from '73 to '87. Mine was an '81. Hope all is well 🤘y'all have a badass day🤘🍻🤘
I was thinking the same thing! I like it, although I find it odd how the back of the cab looks wrong, despite proline having made other squarebodies that look great! I know it probably has to relate to how it is a one piece body compared to the two piece design of the other/older (1973) squarebody stepside they make...Of course it isn't a major detail, I'm just ranting because the later model ones are my favorites.
Kudos to Axial for sticking to 1.9! Im a little surprised that they didn't counter Traxxas with a lifted 2.2. I'm sure it was due to keep price point down. Thx Matt!
Wow, so I got myself an SCX10 II Chevy Blazer RTR, and I got it right around when they had stopped making them and the first SCX10 III's were just making it to the hobby shops. Comparing that truck with this, as that truck was essentially a top of the line SCX10 II, it's insane what you get now in a "Base Camp" model, it's really impressive how far the scale trucks have come.
It looks fantastic. Axial did a great job. BUT.. For me it's tough. I'd have to swap it to straight axles, add rock sliders and inner fenders plus a interior. At that point, I'd just get a VS410 straight axle kit. Then buy the body separately
What no Huey Lewis and the News music? ( I know copyrights.)I had the 12th scale version of that truck. I might pick this up. It looks amazing. Thank you once again for the great content.
Good review, spot on about the clear windows, shame Trax not listening about this on another review i noticed a fair bit of tyre clicking in the arches, bit of a shame, i wont be getting one as im working on a Ford F-150 lariat on an FTX chassis...perfect fit
Unfortunately I got the hip to be square cause when I hear that music 😂 I have this color and the black one I love them I immediately put the hobbywing pro 2 in 1 2300kv brushless system in them and they are so much better I loved you review 🤘✌️
It's not a bad truck. I like it. I think axial fixed the 10.3 issues. I'd like to see a good forward motor style trans. Oh wait. The 10 pro hahaha. This is cool. Great video man.
I want this truck because I am rebuilding a life size 1979 GMC Stepside that has the almost exact same body style. I also own a 1991 Chevy Stepside that is my daily driver. I want my GMC build to look just like this.
What track was playing during the drive footage? Is that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club? It's been awhile since I've listened to them. I'll take that over Huey Lewis! Thanks for the content.
While at Axialfest West 2023 I decided to go with the Axial-Pro-Line limited edition k10 at a lower price. Now, to compare and see what to bring it up to the current level. Any information would be appreciated. Missed you at Axialfest. But understand work has to come first.
2 questions ??......1st ,,will this body be available separtly.. & will it fit on the Axial SCX10 III jlu wrangler jeep Any input into what truck body will fit my rtr jlu wrangler shall be appreciated....Thank you.....I subbed !!!! God Bless you & yours !!
Nice, of note, I like how Axial and some other companies are paying attention and offering various mounting options for things like suspension, wheelbase, and servos. It seems like only a few years ago you got one or the other but not all on one chassis.
Hopefully they fixed that body I have one of the proline anniversary trucks and I'm thrilled to see this because it means a clear body will come out but the back of the cabs are terribly weak 3 hobby shops around me had them coming in with broken bodies cracked at the back of the cab mine is a shelf queen because I'm afraid the first time it bounces down a trial it's probably going to crack
Great review very entertaining as expected. Sorry to say, still needs smaller tires and they need to be inboard more. Going the right direction though👍🏻
I hope they put the Silverado body decal in the correct location for the production units. After watching the running video it, I wonder why the body bounces around so much on the chassis.
I think the body flexes at the front because mounts are quite far back and there's weight of the grill and lights, probably not as noticeable when driving as on video, but I hope it won't rattle
Much like the limited edition version of this that they released a while back, I wish they'd have thrown it on the straight axle version of the basecamp that now exists
I'm a huge Square body fan (I own an 87 GMC Sierra Classic 3500), but this truck just leaves me cold. If Axial is going to pick a body that Traxxas already has, they should at least try to make it comparable in quality and detail.
@@scalebuildersguild then there would be an rtr with the dif axles and links, or a builder's kit with portals... i mean, if you produce the part already then why not....
Nice wee truck 🚚 thanks for sharing 😊 have you planned the electronics for the boomracing series 3 yet ? I'm not sure what is best . I've built the other bits now stuck on what to do next 😢
Fore! I hope you can take a basecamp over to Headquake's track before long since he now is, thankfully, back in the TH-cam arena :) Maybe even the new basecamp chassis or kit can be the basis of a new build, that would be cool. Perhaps bring KPOP and do a real Canadian Comrades review and drive, IDK a 'basecamp bash'. I'll stop now before a get ahead of myself with ideas. Great SBG forest footage of the Chevy crawling and a like added ofcourse. Cheers👌
Yep, most people that I knew that had that truck had the running boards. So a slider there would look about right 👍 Oh yeah, and just like the real thing, the tail lights are out 🤣 It'da been nice not to see those body posts though
"Hip to be square" that was so righteous, loved that! Thank you, you made my day buddy! Long live the 80's!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Missed my that much ! Body pins/posts and tha high bed bottom?!?
I'll be getting one my grandpa had a 1982 just like it when I was a kid
Very cool!
As a member of the sub 30 committee, I can confirm that the joke goes straight over my head. 😂 Great video keep up the amazing work!
You've got homework 😂.
I wish it would be on the straight axle Base camp platform
I have been brooding for a while how there was no kit or RTR with simple transmission and detailed licensed body (and portals), I like 80s chevys so this is perfect
Enjoy!
Nice unit. 🤔 I like the added touch of the bumper lights...
Thanks... Thanks, now I'm listening to Huey Lewis..
Enjoy!
Looks like Frosty got a new drug and started Zombie walking through the parking lot. Love the visual😂
It might be hip to be square, but I need a new drug with the power of love.
😂
7:08 That's a rebranded Hobbywing WP-1040 (SPMXSE1040)

I have a Basecamp one of my favorites right next to the Honcho SCX10II. Both are my everyday drivers. 🐐🐐

It’s a really small body. Might look funny for a monster truck build. For mine, I used the j concepts f150. Fit real nice

I am partial to fords, but how can’t you love this Chevy.
Would like to see a chop and drop on that body.
Maybe another option for LCG build?
This may come as a shock to you, but I feel that as a child of the 80s, Huey Lewis and News freaking ROCKS!
Of course they do!

Good vide9 on a newish Basecamp. Have a great rest of your week!
Same to you!
I heard Huey Lewis is going to be at Dorcia this weekend.
I used to have a real one, boy do I miss it!
That brush of the mirror was way to gentle to be realistic. 😂 nice video as always! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Just ordered this from A main hobbies, love your videos
Enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
Excellent running video Thanks for the review wouldn't mind a Limited Edition one
I've got huey lewis on cassette, that's how old I am, lol
You can also stream it... just saying 😂
Great video and I’m north of 30 so the intro was great! I was fortunate to win the light blue pre production bodies at Axialfest Badlands.
Very cool!
I think Matt and Headquake should collab for a feature length video. Two great creatives.
Thank you for getting some mirror rub in the running footage.... I would have felt very let down otherwise. 😂
Great review again Matt! Always looking foward to your videos, humour and honest opinions! Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks! Will do!
I think the proline color is the best of the 3... Although I may be a bit biased on that one...
I’m getting big time John Baker from CHiPs vibes!
Now I know what they did with all the extra 40th anniversary Pro-Line K10 models 😂! Strip em down boys!

I have the anniversary edition. Its supposed to be a 1982 chevy truck.
They almost nailed a winner, but the body clips holds it back. It’s still a pretty cool truck.
Fair enough, thanks for watching!

Good to see new stuff, trucks!!
Not my jam, but I’m glad the option is out there for someone to enjoy.
Please get that reasonable opinion off the internet. That's not what the web is for
Would love to try a rear shock tower an body mount relocation to try and fit a printed deep bed for more detail

Those rings on the wires are ferrite beads. They help with interference. Love the videos.
Thanks for watching!
Always quality content, nice truck!
All I care about are those 4.19 Wildpeak MTs 😍
I want this body for my scx10 pro kit
Any word on whether Proline will be releasing a clear version of that body?

I imagine they’ll release it on its own in the future. Same wheelbase, you’ll just have to sort out mounting it. Good luck!
I wonder if there is a way to reduce the body jiggle which is especially noticeable on the front side.
It’s accentuated by the slow motion, but sure, add some foam rings on the underside of the body!
Poor snowman never saw it comin'...🤠

The side-step square body Chevy starred in 1973 to 1987
if you could only pick one 1:10 RTR RC Crawler which would you pick over all?
Thank you

is it ready to ruin?
80-88 had the dual headlights stacked. Pre 80 had the solo round eye. 89+ had the dual lights side by side.
I had an 82 and 87. Both had single headlights on top and blinkers on bottom.
If this came from RC4WD, yes I would get one. They are overdue in upgrading their blazer.
wish you had tried that body on the og BC lol
Clear windows are like cowbell....gotta have it!
Square bodies are everywhere! This one is a good looker but c'mon. What else do they have? Something totally unique..
It’s better than another new Bronco…
So the builders kit has dif axle and links? Why is it so different from the RTR
I guess they want to have options for people.

If the basecamp comes with portals, why haven't they put a Unimog body on it?
I am pretty sure my 14 year old kid would get the Huey Lewis joke, because he is a bigger BTTF fan than even I was.
Truck, for camping.
The front bumper looks crooked like on the anniversary edition truck.
The body is just slightly askew, no major issues.
Do they charge extra for the body to come cracked from factory?
😂
I was sure this truck came with Hyrax tires
You're thinking of the Anniversary Edition they did for Pro-Line.
Yes sir
