As a CJ7 owner myself, this pleases me. As an adult with bills to pay and a borderline crippling RC addiction, this stresses me. Axial did a fantastic job with this one; and an excellent review as always man. 10/10
Matt your running vids are so very realistic. You don’t focus on getting through obstacles quickly, you seem to focus on making it look real. Thanks to you sir.
Can you just stitch all of your crawler "running" videos together for us?! They're just so immersive and well done! I could play it instead of the fireplace channel during holidays 😂
@@Lifeofanrcaddict I was thinking the same thing for our shop. We have an enormous indoor rock crawling course where we host competitions every month. Unreal Rc in Toms River, NJ
You're running portion was awesome! Thanks for letting us hear the drivetrain and motor whine. Most people throw in this hard hitting music with all these different effects. But you crawled through at real time as if we were standing there with you. This gives me an actual sense of how it is right out of the box!
I liked the calm music and hearing real sounds too! I mean . . . this is why we do this isn't it? unless the other guys really do just put ear buds in and head bang the whole time.....
Finally... 2 DOOR 👍SOLID AXIL 👏 CJ 👌👌👌. Great video with great balance of music and can still hear the leaves crunching ant the motor whine. Loved the Jeep driving off into the distance, beautiful ...then reality sets in and you're on your roof. 🤣😂😅😂😅
OMG, I gotta have one!!! It's the only way to survive in that bunker under ground. We also need a 1:24 scale version of this. No one likes a 4 door Jeep, make Stinger Bumpers Cool Again!
My girlfriend put the 90mm shocks on her Early Bronco and it really made that model handle better. Very nice film work, sir. Always enjoy the nice slow scale driving. Have a great weekend. P.S. I almost applauded at the end of your video, people near me would have thought I lost my mind. 😁
Yes Matt you do have giant thumbs. I believe you’ve said in the past that you can one hand drive a traxxas controller and that’s crazy. Next Wednesday night show run a poll to see how many can do that and I bet it’s not many! Besides all that another great video!!! 👍
I agree. This one is their best step so far. I really do like it and could say this one doesn’t need “much” to run it as is. I think I’d go with the silver and paint the panels to match to break up that sea of black in the rear.
The CJ was the first time I saw jeep in a book about desert crawling and exploring when I was 30 living in the UK. I’ve waited so long for this body and Axial have knocked it out the park.
I had two CJ7s, when I was younger. My green one was my favorite. I will most definitely be purchasing this Jeep. Then I will paint it rattle can green.
Where's the duck? Lol. Scale accessories in the working center console. Not my thing. But my buddy will have a map, binoculars and who knows. I can't wait get one of these. Also great to hear axial is giving us a good tire compound.
Amazing running footage, Matt, definitely something Josh needs to work on when it comes to reviewing products not named Vanquish. You showed what a trail truck should look like on the trail. You didn't run it wide open into boulders to try and brake it and flip it or immediately start tearing it apart to install $ hundreds of dollars worth of Vanquish parts, transmissions and wheels on an Axial rtr. Just a Beautiful video of an Axial Truck showing off what Axial put together. I love a good authentic unbiased review 👍🏼
Sure is! Glad that your stuff made it on here. Back when this was in early development, they shared a few pics and the Genright model was heavily used as inspiration!
Not a performance rig for sure, but in the running video, the movement of the vehicle looks very realistic. I can practically feel the rocker landing on the rocks in a few of those shots.
It's about time seeing the CJ. I'm definitely going to have to think about this. I want to see what the aftermarket does with this. This might have to be my next rig. The price seems a bit high but everything is going up so guess we'll just have to deal with it,lol
Super excited for this one. I will be pre ordering this red one as soon as my local hobby shop opens today. Thanks for the look and review. Awesome as always.
A GREAT looking truck and that body is ABSOLUTELY amazing! I would normally pick the grey/silver but that red looks amazing, I especially like the contrast of the rock panels and the graphics - beautiful! Another great video - the soft whine of the motor, the tires biting into the rocks, the crunch of the leaves and roots - music to my ears!
It's going to take another jeep 7 or a hllacopter to follow..it war me and out just watching it go over all that rough stuff..wish u had a regular truck trying follow...on same path..great driving..for plastic old guy...thxs🏁😬👍
I'm not a Jeep guy, but who does not like the CJ7? Must say I love Wagoneers as well (1st gen, not the crap looking later variants) and hope they will do that also in the future. Tamiya 9805615 snap pin looks like a good candidate for those door clips. They are longer and square looking so you will get a better grip. Hope someone will do the Golden Eagle decals for the CJ7. Looks spesially good with white body. The stock wheels looks exaactly like the Golden Eagle wheels. Paint them gold and you are golden, pun intended! Lol.
I thought I had my second crawler to buy all sewn up but now you present this! Looks good but think I would go the silver version with pops of colour done through some nice scale accessories. The flat gloss section in the rear is just asking to make it your own. Thanks for the great simple review always learning - your beginner friendly dialogue and descriptions. Cheers Matt
I own 3 CJ-7's......One completely restores 1983, one 1982 with 1 ton axles and highly modded for rock climbing, another 84 with 1 tons, for playing in the mud. I've owned 9 Jeeps in my life, 8 of them CJ-7's and my first car was an 82' CJ, so getting one of these to feed my CJ addiction was a no-brainer. Just ordered one, after many many searches and phone calls I finally found one (on backorder everywhere curently). The rumors I heard is there is some sort of issue with the Jeep licensing.....may be false but I have read/seen it in more than one place.
Axial nailed the scale details & made a straight axle Jeep red would be choice, being a Chevy enthusiast I like the Jeep CJ7 their great for LS swap, great review & run I'll look for your upgrade & mod videos thanks for sharing Matt😉👍
Hello Matt! Nice Axial CJ! Put a RC4WD WARN 8274 winch, leaf springs and a sound module with „chevy small block with carborator and 3 speed gearbox - sound“ on it. Imagine how it chokes and splutters when driving up a very steep slope and the Engine and radiator boil… I smell the stinking hot clutch 😂😂😂 Nice Video! Have a nice day !
If you use a longer bolt and move the shocks down to the link mount you can save on shocks. I did that on my standard axle swapped gladiator towrig and it works excellent.
Awesome as always. And thanks for getting the red, despite not generally liking them, agree it looks better than the grey. Definitely will add one to sit next to the early Bronco. Now if they really want a take my money release, SCX-6 version…..
Thanks for taking the time to make another nice video. I will take whatever colour is available when they finally reach the warm dry sunny sand of Australia. I think removing the doors and most of the roll cage, add a fly fishing rod holder with a lot of weathering is about all the cosmetic work. Underside = Fusion pro and toss out the plastic motor etc.
Not a Jeep guy but Axial have nailed it, this is the better livery Josh was saying the front maarker lights need ro be tinted yet this ones look more amber, detail 10/10 just need to illuminate the dash, would I buy it this may be rge closest I could have got to buying one but coming just after Black friday and Cyber monday I blew my sheckles on 5th scale has stuff and a FTX 1/7th Superforza as I am easing my itch to go 5th scale on road again. Wheb I first saw it part of me wished it was a leaf spring model what it was a tj/yj pass not a Jeep guy but to see Josh's face if ir was riding on leaf springs LOL Nice running montage.
I just bought a pair of SCX10 III's with the original body on "Spooky Sale" on Axial's website. Really excited to go crawling through the leaves this autumn :)
Really nice review and running video. Great music, too. When the 10III came out on portals, I wan't too excited, but with this body and straight axles...
Not everyone can be a 9 inch man. Just do the best you can with what you've got. 😂 Awesome job as always on the review, Matt! When will we see your leaf spring conversion on this one?
I think your Stan man looks perfect in there. Now you're 9-inch Baldy looks good standing next to the Jeep but the seats look too small for him . Another great video Matt thanks!
@scalebuildersguild a leaf sprung conversion would look great. Would give it a weekend warrior vibe. I may hold out for the inevitable kit version. I can always use another project. 🤣
I chose the red one and ditched all the decals and installed the Furitek Python X with the 1900kv system and a Savox Black 1212 servo. Swapped out wheels and tires for aluminum beadlocks and Proline Swampers with SL3D squid inserts and dropped the height down with some 90mm shocks and it performs great. Looking forward to doing a lot more cosmetic mods.
I haven't purchased my first 10th 8th..... 7.25ish scale crawler and the choices are getting better and that makes the decision tougher. And i like the Red for sure

First step to recovery is identify the problem. As a recovering rc junky i always try to buy USED.
I'm definitely going to get this CJ7
borderline ? guess you've not discovered boats yet then...
I could not agree more.
I wholeheartedly agree man. We’ll all work through this together.
A lot of people will say it’s just another Jeep but this is the Jeep we wanted in the first place.
Fantastic, and I love the calming, serene running footage.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Looking forward to seeing what this will look like with an SBG touch added to it!
Stay tuned!
Matt your running vids are so very realistic. You don’t focus on getting through obstacles quickly, you seem to focus on making it look real. Thanks to you sir.
I appreciate that!
Yes,he drives them like we do every time we go out👍🏼
Yeah but it's in slow motion...seems to be more flattering of this Axial than it deserves
@@lih6372 it definitely needs more weight down low to stop the bounce and would be much more realistic
Ok this thing looks sick! Want one!
Can you just stitch all of your crawler "running" videos together for us?! They're just so immersive and well done! I could play it instead of the fireplace channel during holidays 😂
😂
Just make them a "driving" folder that we can just let play. I'd run it in the hobby shop.

Well I’ve watched all the release videos of this new CJ7 and hands down your video is the best.

I agree. This one is their best step so far. I really do like it and could say this one doesn’t need “much” to run it as is. I think I’d go with the silver and paint the panels to match to break up that sea of black in the rear.
I was thinking about covering them in aluminum tape so it will show off scrapes well
The demo Electronics got to go
@redndeyes they're tolerable for trailing
Thanks Matt, awesome video beautiful truck
