Yeah, it is more a sequel to Showdown, which i totally loved so i think im gonna go get this one.
Disappointing of Codemasters to arcadize the Dirt series after they did the same with Project Cars. Would be more honest to use other names, but I guess it's all about the money.

@@yvindgrimstad3651 Firstly, you forget about dirt 2 and 3 which were arcade, so basically series was arcade from start, then changed to sim and now they return to arcade again. Secondly, Project cars is sim-arcade and Pc2 is full sim, PC3 is garbage. do you know these series or did you just play last ones?

Racing games have bored me for years - the last great game for me was need for speed underground 1 and 2
The volume for this video was all all over the place. Deafeningly loud in some transitions and too low in most of the speech.
They were to show gameplay volumes, but yea it was a bit too high.

it's not really a rally game, it says Dirt not Dirt Rally.
If you want a rally game get Dirt Rally 2.0 you schmuck, DiRT is the arcade version fuckhead.

I love how motorstorm is still praised today and we have yet to see anything like it since. Feels really bad.

This game looks fun I’m going to try it on PS+ but it’s pretty obvious what they’re doing. Trying to make two different series, Dirt for the casuals and Dirt Rally for sim players.

As a sim racer I can still get behind arcade racing games. I just love racing, so will give this a shot for sure.

@@Grandmatabby If you prefer simulation rally with co-driver and rallycross Dirt 4 is definitely better. Closer to Dirt Rally, with an added land rush racing.

Note: if you're struggling with the Sprint car races, don't even bother modulating the throttle. full throttle out the exit of the turn and down the straights.
Drive Club was one of my early PS4 love affaires. And has a special, nostalgic place in my memory bank.

Honestly I'm also a bit biased since I really have a soft spot for Evolution Studio/Codemaster Cheshire. Those guys know how to craft a fun arcade experience.
Drive club was one of the best car racing games ever made just as amazing as pgr was at it’s time... its sad that crap like forza gets raving support and these games don’t.. and if I recall drive club was a flop... lol

Dirt 5 doesn’t make me think I’m playing a rally game, dirt 4 seemed like a rally game to me, you had the tight tracks, the callouts and much more. Dirt 2 was also amazing. This is a downgrade in my eyes
Yeah looks awful como compared to Dirt 2.0. this looks like a Motorstorm game without the crazy takedowns.
It's a technical downgrade on the physics side, but the simple phyaics makes the track editor tracks actually doable to play em without wrecking youself with hardcore physics+bad user created tracks. the balance is right for that alone but the rest of the game falls flat for hardcores fans.

I’ve heard nothing but negative about this game and to be honest, it looks great graphically and looks fun. I’ve had it for ages and I’m going to finally try it out.
Shame he didn't try it on PS5. The developers themselves state that using the haptic feedback is absolutely transformative for this title, so I would have loved this guy to try this and advise us, as I would trust his feedback on it. I'm actually pretty pleased its more arcade like, but it often looks less than next gen so I'm on the fence. Haptics might make me jump in and try it :)
i've been playing it on PS4 and PS5 and got to say, it is pretty great with the Adaptive triggers and Haptics.
Dirt just feels like an Arcade game too me now. Nothing like its glory days.

Honestly as much as I miss classic Dirt games, A spiritual successor to Motorstorm wins me over. I purchased before the review was even over because I saw monument valley

How about the best of both worlds? A mix of Showdown and 2 while doing it's own thing, seeing how hard DiRT 4 flopped, i'm ok with this necessary change.
@@MrMonsterKen people seem to not understand thar dirt now is going to have 2 series - Dirt focused on fun and showdowns nad Dirt Rally focused on simulation, and yet they want dirt 5 to be rally 3.0
The shout out to the classic Stunts PC game from the 1990s made my day. It was one of my favorites! It was nice to see that formula ressurected in Trackmania and now in Dirt 5. Excellent review and such a shame this game does not feature point to point racing.

Driving experience looks more like not your typical simulation oriented games. Dirt 3 is still has a better driving experience imo, but dirt 5 offers upgraded graphics and much more tameable handling since its an arcade racing.
Everyone has become tooooooo judgmental towards hard work put in by people working from home. Just appreciate what you get because you could've got nothing at all.

It launched pretty choppy on next gen consoles, but the patches a few days ago improved things a lot so kudos to the devs
Series S can do 120fps on this game, If you have a 120+ hz monitor or tv, there should be a “high frame rate” option as well. The weird part is if you dont have a 120+hz monitor, the option wont even show up in the menu. Anyway, It’s a bit blurry but the motion is smooth. Its the Series S doing 120fps, I love it so far.
For many years after seeing briefly this Dirt I thought - where did Colin Mcrae Rally games go... If they kept Colins name in title more people would recognize it

Hopefully Codemasters let the Driveclub team make a new graphics engine instead of having to do what they can with this old one. Then we'd see a proper next-gen game. Driveclub was made 7yrs ago & is still the best looking car game I've seen in almost every area.
The mud and mud tracks look worse then Motorstorm 1 which already had a real-time mud deforming that stayed for the whole race.
Sega Rally Revo also had the same terrain deformation feature that you speak of.
Just bring back motorstorm already 😒

@@unknownperson1050 everyone seems to be forgetting Codemasters alternate between the two & that you're allowed to enjoy both. I love sim racing but don't need two rally sims from the same publisher. This looks fun to me & can tell it's from the Driveclub team as I really enjoyed that too.
Project cars 3 suffered same fate.
I guess Customer appetite drives what the Codemasters team gets to build.

Motorstorm was arcadey fun in short bursts and very pick up and play friendly... Being made by the same studio I'm not surprised Dirt 5 fairs the same. you just gotta accept Dirt for the Arcade game it's become

The audio levels are all over the place. Luke's voice is extremely low, while the cutscenes are deafening. If you're trying to keep the volume down, it's impossible to follow without subtitles. Would be great if volume levels could be more synced next time. :-)

Weird that there isn't ANYTHING about next-gen in this review. Not even a mention of the 120hz mode and/or the differences between old and new gen. Furthermore, the obvious tearing isn't addressed either. A bit more technical info would be appreciated, without having to go all "digital foundry" on us.

This is without doubt the best arcade racer I've played in ages! It's not really a Dirt game! It's more like Motorstorm v Driveclub & NFS! The only negative is no replays but gameplay wise brilliant arcade fun!

Sim Rig/wheel = Stick with Dirt Rally 2.0, Controller = Pretty fun if you buy it at a deep discount.
Dirt 5 is a great game, I dont understand what the criticism is about, I know that its not as great as Dirt 2 and I dont think any game will ever be, but as a dirt fan Dirt 5 is a great entry with stunning visuals, fun racing and great sound design.

YES TO STUNTS!!! I couldn't place my finger on it but you nailed that comparison. Such fond memories of that game.... Ahhhhh needing the cardboard spin wheel to even launch the damn thing but the days that were lost to that game....
Can't complain it's free off ps+ this month but any racing game that doesn't go all out on customization is missing a trick. Always more enjoyable when you're grinding to get a new engine part, suspension, etc.
