My son and I built one after we both watched this video. I’ve used a few over the years and built a couple. Best design ever. We used reclaimed wood as well. We cut our firewood short at 12 inches. Our buck is 53 inches overall. We countersunk our carriage bolt heads out of necessity. Yesterday we went and bought 7 2x4x8 to build our neighbor one for his birthday. He uses 14 inch wood so we’re customizing it to his needs. My son and I have both cut a good amount on our new sawbuck and it’s been a game changer. All the measuring is built in to the design! I found out it to be easier to be unfolded by adding two boards on the lower end of the upright parts so all legs of the buck are connected. As I am about to build a better one I decided to put one or even two washers between all upright parts to make it moving easier. Wood on wood does not slide well but metal on metal does.

Thanks for the great video though! definitely don't overload this one, guys, I torture tested it so you don't have to, it's not strong enough to hold wood you can't lift, but it works REALLY well for wood the size he was doing. It's not a loss, it works great laying on the ground as a standoff for cutting logs still, so 10/10, plus it was fun to build with the family.

I wish the top pieces were a tad taller as well but it works just fine. All it would would be to make the axis lower, then overall height is similar but room for a bigger log. Thanks again!
My grandfather grew up during the depression, on a dirt-poor farm in the panhandle of Texas. He would have saved those nails, straightened them and reused them.3
The only thing I would change is to make the top pieces longer so that you could cut larger logs. I feel like you’re kinda limited with how short those pieces are, but other than that, great job and excellent video production and instructions. I wish more people made detailed videos like this.

Why not start at the main end sticking out and cut it? It’s more efficient 😊 and your saw needs sharpened
