I've owned one of these log holders for nearly 10 years but I still picked up an idea from your video. I usually put it in my trailer and haul it to the site I'm working at but it never occurred to me to leave it in the trailer. I will from now on. Thanks for the idea Tony.

I've seen Russian vid's with these. This is exactly what I need! I see the Logosol is $128, pretty good value! The Timber Croc looks like a beast itself at $350. I think the cheaper one would do what I need. Kinda like Harbor Freight tools, if it works for the day/job, it paid for itself :)

I have one. It works fine. But I cringe when I see anyone using a chainsaw with only one hand. NOT SAFE! My Husqvarna dealer distributor once showed me a photo book of mutilated users who thought they could get away with operating a chainsaw with one hand. Just a warning. Shalom/gw PS you shouldn't operate it above shoulder height, either.
You’re right no chainsaw should be operated above the shoulder. As far a one handed operations you definitely have to be aware of what you’re doing when operating a top handle saw using one hand.

I bought one of those last month. I’m disabled and can not bend over to far. But with this tool I get a lot of wood cut.

Hi Tony. interesting tool that works better with the top handle saw on the smaller wood for sure. Safer then the wood rolling up the bar at you. Don't know that I would purchase one but good to see how they work, thanks for showing.

I burn a lot of limb wood......I've be burning that up to date so far. My dad built some saw horses out of wood back 40 years ago and we still use them from time to time which work great. Stay safe my friend
I agree Tim limb wood is awesome and long lasting in both the OWB and fireplace inside.
A sawbuck definitely is more popular in North America than the sawhorse.

Tony that tool is definitely a two man tool to make it convenient. My granddaughter needs one for sure.
Walter definitely would be faster with two people but works well with one person as well. For younger people it’s no big deal but as you get older bending is a royal pain.

I have the same one. It is very well constructed and easy to set up. Make sure to push the branch down into the holder so the saw won’t pull it towards you as you cut.

I have a similar rig I built after looking at many DIY designs other wood hounds had made. One thing I noticed you may want to consider is putting the limb at the end to start instead of setting the saw down and moving it to the end part way through. I realize some of the wood will be way too long for this, but I always put mine at the end to start. As you pointed out, I put the dogs against the wood so it doesn't pull it. Mine I made to mount in a metal 4 x 4 post holder that is driven in the ground which makes it less portable but more stable than merely sitting on top of the ground. I wish I could put a picture of it here but I don't see an option for that.
Yeah it’s a shame you can’t post pictures. Would be great to see. The unit I have is super portable. What I have done is Ive put an 80 lbs bag off sand on the feet and it makes it real stable.

I guess if I had a bunch of branches or limbwood I might pull it out and use it but I end up using the top handles and just cut by hand, the rest I cut on the ground.

As you found out the holder was not designed to let the log hang out on the unsupported end, when You do, cut from the bottom up. I almost built one but many years ago. but built My Big sawbuck instead I can pile on about 8 or nine 0f the Log pieces you have and with the overhead Laser make 5 cuts for a whole lotta Wood. I do like My top handle saws for that small stuff, I just added the Makita top Handle to Arsenal.
I might Build one that fits in the Receiver of the Truck but The Dump trailer is most likely hooked on.
HHmm maybe I'll put a receiver on the back of the Trailer...

Greg I agree since this tool wasn’t made for production cutting if your working by yourself it definitely will save a chain or two or at least help keep your chain sharper because you’re not cutting on the ground.

Dig a hole where you're standing
sometimes the specialty tools are better than a general purpose tool. This is a great way to keep up light wood and sitting in the back of the trailer saves bending over and picking up all that wood. Oh yeah !!
Matt there is always a better and easier way of doing a job. The sawhorse is one of those tools.
I’ll be demonstrating a similar tool in the next week or two I think you’ll find interesting.

Yup the sawhorse is definitely not for production. You’d be better off with a sawbuck for that.

I’ve always wondered about those, looks like they would work better than traditional X-X saw buck.
Joe this is a portable unit for someone who bucks limbs occasionally or works by themselves. The advantage with the sawhorse is the portability and ease of transportation.
With a saw buck you can stack multiple limbs and cut but they’re not as portable.

@@JoesFirewoodVideosII Joe the ideal and fastest way I’ve found is using any top handle saw(battery or gas) it works awesome. You have a lot of control and with a sharp chain on a 14” bar it’s like cutting butter and often I cut and let it drop in a ATV trailer or cut down IBC bladder. 👍TCT

That's a good tool for the branches here in the Pacific NW.. Douglas Fir branches can be the equivalent of small trees in some cases..
Well Daniel in that case the Sawhorse might be beneficial to buck up a substantial amount of wood safely. Otherwise just build a folding saw buck.

Thanks for the review on the log holder. I have seen them in the past and not my cup of tea. I think a buzz saw would be more useful, either way you need to pick up the wood.

I use my splitter to hold smaller wood like that do hicky does. Takes time but I hate cutting all those small logs down by my feet. Plus I get lazy with my lengths when the wood is on the ground.
Stan I’ve seen people use their splitters to hold limbwood and know that system works really well. I agree I too get lazy with cutting to correct lengths but with the ProSizer it make it more convenient now

Some thing I wouldn’t buy or use. I have seen them just not for me. I have a saw buck I built for small rounds or slabs. And a huge one for slabs holds over a 1/3rd of a cord. Stack it up and wack it up. Takes less then 5 minutes to buck either saw buck. Peace
William I agree the sawhorse is not for everyone. A sawbuck is definitely more versatile for cutting multiple pieces. With that being said the sawhorse is perfect for the occasional user. The goal of my channel is to show multiple options of tools and accessories and let you the viewer make the choice if it for them.

I built a good solid sawbuck. I’m going to stick with the sawbuck.
Richard a sawbuck is definitely a much better choice because you can stack and cut multiple piecies at one time.

Hello. One thing to admit, I have four chainsaws for my firewood business, like You Tony I'm a Stihl guy. By the way, I speak German, so most people pronounce "Stihl" wrong because in German language letters ST sound like SHT, it should sound "SHTil" as we speak in Europe.
My chainsaw are 029, MS 180, MS 462 and battery powered MSA 220. In my opinion the best chainsaw for limb wood is the MSA 220, because it is light, no pulling to start and for small wood it has plenty of power, its engine has 2,1kW, that's enough. Maybe problem is the price but it saves your health, since I bought this chainsaw I use it the most if the wood isn't too big. I'm from Lithuania so I paid for my MSA 220 430 euro, I took 2 batteries AP 300S that was 300 euro for each, and I had to buy a loader that was 150 euro. I bought MSA 220 in November last year, in this spring Stihl has released the bigger battery AP 500S , I paid 400 euro for that. I needed the bigger battery for my leaf blower because it sucks the energy really fast. Now I use this bigger battery for my MSA 220 and I can cut more than a face cord of wood into rounds with one charge. The only thing to keep in mind the chain has to be sharp or the battery won't last as long as it should be.
I wanted to add that when I bought my MS 462 this year I paid about 1000 euro for the powerhead, a 20 inch bar and two chains. The MS 500i was about 1300 euro for the chainsaw, the 20 inch bar and a chain. The price is the same at the moment.

I know how it must hurt the German viewers ears listening to us Americans mispronounce the name. I will make every effort to say it correctly in the future. Is it unstable, noticed you either stepped on the base or held the piece being cut.
One thing I didn’t mention was i something use a bag of sand on the base.
Occasionally I will step on the base so it doesn’t move but remember the unit only weighs 20 lbs.

Adrian I’ve never used this tool much. It’s really popular in Europe but not in the US. I prefer using a 24” bar on my chainsaw and cut the small stuff standing up. Though it’s a good idea for me it handling the wood to much.

Yup you’re right, you still have to bend down and pick up the branches, but you definitely save on possibly hitting the dirt when cutting limbs on the ground.
