There are some great firewood processors out there, but if they really want to impress me, they need to build a machine that STACKS the firewood after it's all split.
Without skill and know-how, everything to do with processing that lumber, from forest to finished firewood/boards, is hazardous to your health. A million ways to get all or part of you squashed!
I think it would be interesting to have a box shaped blade for those hydraulic splitters that way you can get a probably pretty useful piece of wood out of the firewood that you're cutting
Normally this video would be ideal for guys, but I'm a girl and I love it. The machine at around the 9 minute mark is what I would call "a wood chipper on steroids"!! The machine at the 11-12 minute mark is a model of efficiency and compactness. And I never thought that you could extrude wood, but the machine at the 6 minute mark proves me wrong.
I live in the Ozarks in North Central Arkansas. I could do with a machine like that and affordable firewood for sale. We have big trees like that around here and had about four taken down around our house, but couldn't afford to get them cut up for fire wood. We got left with one big log and no way to cut it into fire wood. So it is just sitting there. We really need it cut, but pandemic made everything too expensive. Including buying extra firewood, or having wood cut and brought down from higher up our half a mountain for this year. Ran out of aged firewood and now using enviro logs to try to keep house above 50F, but not enough for over night.
Ah a real tradesman at his trade. It’s not about cutting a notch then cutting the other side. Then the cool tools, the tractor splitter splitting 4 ft pices, pretty impressive, then they top it with the 8 ft splitter, then the chipper, kept getting better. Sweet what can be done with ingenuity, little hydraulic oil, some hose and pistons, skys the limit.
I guess there is a reason why you don'd see the "push" type log splitters much in Australia. Most of our forests are hardwood, knotty and forked with twisted grain and I suspect a single Redgum log would jam up one of those machines for hours as they tried to get it back out. Great for their intended target but not so much for down under :-)
