Just back from holiday, the lawn despite me asking parents to cut has gone like a jungle, this video couldn’t have come at a better time! Ordered the summer pack and some more drainage! Let’s get this lawn back to where it was two weeks ago!
Dan - at the end of the season it would be great to have a video showing the evolution of one of the lawns over the whole year as a summary, with links to the individual videos of how you got there. It would be good to see that big picture long term change - good motivation for us. Also a Q&A video would be great
I did my scarafing today. Was a bit nervous about knacking my lovely lawn. But was suprised at how much came out. Did my final cut then gave it a feed. Thankyou danniel yr a wealth of knowledge.
Daniel, you are a MAGICIAN. Thank you for this amazing video, it gives me such inspiration. I’m off to your website to order more of your magical products.
Ah danniel i wish youd added this video earlier, i would have done that today. Its gonna rain here for the rest of the week. Ill try tomorrow if not. Brilliant advice as always buddy
Whilst I don't have what could be described as a brushed snooker table, I've tried to apply a few of Dan's recommendations to my back lawn and it's looking much better. A short cut, followed by a scarify and then overseeding and feeding. It took a few weeks but it is a lot denser and the grass is much healthier now. I used 18 bags of top soil to level a couple of areas and top dress. Next year I am just going to top dress with Jack's Magic. Then I need to focus on the smaller front lawn. Cheers Dan! Keep up the good work.
I've just used 4 bags of Jack's magic. (Homebase) I had to riddle it to get rid of all the rubbish in it. Big bits of twigs and bark and few stones. I'd shop about first before you buy it.
@@leecromack2482 I used to use JM but ditched it for the reasons you’ve mentioned it’s dreadful now. (New and improved recipe it said on the bag) It’s a shame as it used to be brilliant 3/4 years ago.
I’ve been debating a light scarify on my lawn, it’s thickened up loads since I did it in March but I thought it was a no go this time a year, obviously not, will fire the scarify up on the weekend 👍🏻
Dan, what is your advice on when to cut newly seeded lawn when wanting to main it at 1in/2.5cm? I’ve seen people say to start cutting at 1.5in to follow the 1/3rd rule or wait till 3in and “scalp” it to 1in. I would appreciate your expertise on this!
Been scarifying twice a month making the lawn looking rough for a couple of days but comes back strong. All this rain has caused some fungi trying to grow even though I regularly spike the lawn for good drainage, roll on August might get some sunshine! 🤔😀
I did this on my front last Friday, so I must be doing something right 😅. I couldn't believe how much thatch came out, not been scarified since a full renovation in early May. I'm a big fan of the Allett brush, a really useful cartridge to have 👍
Nice one. Thanks for this. That's this weekends project sorted then! Mines not quite at your level, Yet!, But its getting there.! This time next year......
Hi Daniel, Love the videos. I've got a Einhell machine with a rake AND a verticut attachment. Which attachment do you use in this video, the rake or verticut attachment?
We really do appreciate the effort you put in sharing years of knowledge, as expected. The lawns look mint. I know it's early, but what are your expectations from forest this upcoming season.
Great video as always Dan! Question about Equilibirum. I bought a load of your stuff recently and today I put on slow grow, orbit and galactic green. I didnt put any equilibrium down but on Steves job I saw you put both down. Am i safe to put it on tomorrow? Im worried about over feeding!
Hi Dan firstly massive thanks for all your advice and videos. Can you please do a video on how to keep the stripes straight on a long lawn you make it look so easy, I've tried focusing on distanced object currently having to use a string line which takes forever. thx mate keep up the good work.
Would you be able to recommend a sprayer that would be suitable for an amateur like me to put your liquid products onto a lawn? I find using a watering can is a bit time consuming and hard work. My 2 lawns are about 50m2 each.
Great video as normal I do a block of flats who's grass was a field the client wants nice green weed free green lawn I've scarifed a d weed and feed but still looks ropey any suggestions would be much appreciated
Hi Dan. I watch your videos from the Czech Republic. I do not speak English. What kind of mixture do you use in the backpack sprayer? I only fertilize with NPK fertilizer once every 4 weeks. I thought that in England everyone has a beautiful lawn without much work, it always rains there, but according to the comments under the video, it's probably not like that.
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Hi, I prefer google to translate. I must have worded it wrong, or a bad translation. I wanted to know what chemical (fertilizer) you use. Is it to suppress grass growth, or against dicotyledonous grasses? Just what it is. I only use NPK in granular form. The weather here is horrible, not good for the lawn. Hot all week 33-36C. Czechia cheers GB.
Loving these videos Dan and you have given me the drive to have a go myself. I'm going to have to replace an old hover mower with a new mower. If you could only buy one, which would you opt for, cylinder or rotary?
Hello Dan, would you recommend doing the aggressive scarification using the Allett detacher cartridge or the verticutter set to a higher depth instead of using a stand-alone scarifier as you do in the video? Thanks a lot.
Looking amazing! How deep do you go? I have a small battery scarifier that goes from +2mm to - 2mm. I'm not sure if going deeper so it contacts the soil and definitely removes lateral growth is the best plan.
Great job Dan, lawn is looking mint 😲😲 What length is final cut? I also noticed that it looks like someone has moved in next door, lawn has been cut, bit of competition for you🤣👍 Regards Kev
Thanks for the reminder to get my scarifier out again and get some liquid feed on. My lawns look great thanks to you. Question though, I have a new lawn that is riddled with yellow speedwell which I thought I had got rid of last year but it's back, what product would you use??
Do you use the dwarf ryegrass you sell on your website in all of your seeding videos? Is this dwarf rye or can you link me to a video where it is? Want to buy some but would like to see it in a video first
Dan, having a bit of an issue with my sprayer when all in with the Stella, Grace, Liquid feed and slow grow. It’s nearly 400 m2 and sprayer only holds 16 litres. It seems to get a bit gunked up half way through even when well mixed and difficult to get even mix on lawn. The Stella seems the thickest; would you just split the products over a couple of passes or half dozen and do twice as often? Oh and try not to depress us by mentioning the word autumn…. We’ve not had any bloody summer yet up here!
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert What’s the difference between summer magic and dans magic lawn feed? Is the summer just a higher nitrogen level for a darker green?
Great vid as always. When I scarified this week, got lots of yellow stalks from my rye. Will they turn green if I mow more regularly? I let out go as Iwas in hospital and the missus had it mowing at a higher setting for three weeks.
Dan - I just used my rake attachment then the verticutter rather than scarifier - do you think that’s good enough ? My lawn is thinner than this and shorter
