- In todays video we do some important work to help keep the lawn free of disease without using fungicides, we verticut the lawn today with the Allett new grooming reel with twice the amount of discs on it then we feed the lawn two ways, these will help fend off a disease attack as the weather gets warmer.

Just stunning!!! Great job mate!!
I’ve done a 15,400sq foot lawn Reno and used your fleece technique and wow after 10 days I’ve got amazing growth!!!
Thanks for all your advice Dan!!
The neighbours lawn with all those seed heads would infuriate me. Great work as always mate
Noone lives there
I verticut my lawn every two 3 weeks this year with Bosch verticutter to keep the poa away and it has helped a lot
That last lawn there is the dogs m8 - you could actually play snooker on that - absolutely amazing job - well done 👏👏👏☘️☘️
Need big balls lol
Dogs' bollicks 😂😂👍 joking aside - that is absolute perfection 👌
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert would the scarifier attachment or rake attachment kind of do the same job on the highest setting so it’s not to aggressive to get rid of dead/necrotic growth in the lawn? Most people don’t have a verticutter
@@19davidwinter88 yeah deffo but dont go to low with it
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert perfect, thanks Dan 👍🏼
So pleased to have found your channel. Poa Annua, pleeeease how do I attack it? Thanks.
Both lawns look superb Dan. They almost look like velvet. The Alyssum is also growing well. Great work. 😄
Hi Danny
How thick are the blades off the groomer.
How deep can they go into the soil
Do they dammage a lot?
Jan from Belgium
Amazing work mate, been learning a lot from you to fix my lawn! ❤
Hi Dan
Great vlog 👌
Do you remember that fertiliser “Green Gold” it was a high nitrogen fertiliser back in the late 80’s and 90’s and we used it at the Belfry for a few years as obviously we could keep up with the growth being planned golf course maintenance
No mate was only 10 in the late 80s who made it?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert I can’t remember Dan it was a long time ago 🤔
Dan. Britains best lawn looks banging mate. Well done ! I'm so proud your a fellow Boltoner !

newbie hear, counted 26 blade segments on your verticutter , curious do you need to shapen them ,how often do you need to sharpen them , 1 year every 3 years or are they like lawnmower blades, and sharpen very often , great results , use to have relatives your way , hows scott mans stump on rivertion pike , happy memories , many thanks for posting
No mate this strong steel i wont be sharpening this mate got better things to do lol
Great tip about using the rotary after verticutting to cut the stood-up lateral growth! Last time I did it i used the cylinder and the front roller just flattened it before the blade got it 😅
You could see the tightness couldn’t you after the rotary then the cylinder cut
Great vid mate …. You’d think the neighbour would start to look after his lawn when he’s got a golf green lookalike opposite there’s
Nobody lives there last guy died of cancer in August last year and his wife sold up straight away as didnt wanna live there anymore hopefully when buyers move in they will start to cut it
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert fair enough any updates from the lawn with the river running through it ? I remember watching the vid last year from the renovation you did that was an epic garden

Hopomg to film again but its raining everytime i go at the minute its come back to full strength
High Dan, must say, you do a grand job mate 👍
Looks like you have a job for life.
Guess it's a safe bet that you are a gardener/ green keeper .
Tell you what, wish we had someone like you as a green keeper at our bowls club.
It's done by council contractors 😢 not the best in the world, we have moss dandelion daisy's to name but three.
1,you do a great job.
2,you are well proud of your work.
3, And so you should be.
All the best Les.
Hi les thanks for the kind words, i am just self taught never worked on a golf course footy pitch or anything in my life other than work experience when i was 15 in 1995 worked at harwood golf club
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert O'h Well, how wrong was I ??
You come across and certainly gave me the impression that you were a professional gardener/ green keeper.
You have all the gear and the right idea!!
Definitely not!! All the gear and no idea.
I would bet you could make it a full time profession, you have the means and wherewithal, you would be a major asset and saviour to many many people.
I duff my cap to you Sir.
Long may your passion continue.
Cheers mate Les.

Will you please cover the leather jacket problem in a video clip. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into to my lawn this last couple of years, carefully following your advice!
I’ve noticed a lot of birds pecking away at the lawn lately, and after a small sample dig, the dreaded leather jackets are here!!!
Help needed
Thanks
Turfsolv is what you want.
I've seen greenkeepers cover the grass at night with black tarpaulin. The leatherjackets come out overnight and they remove the tarp and then sweep the little buggers up
@@JiKimbotried that tonight. Hopefully there will be a few in the morning.
Your lawns like so lush like a thick carpet! Your customers must be very happy with your job, no? I hope they praise it for you and bring you out a cuppa!?
Most do yes

I have seen a number of your videos where you apply a Wetting Agent? Could you advise me what is a wetting agent?
What is the best way to get rid of light coloured thick grass? I dont know what its called but its like an alpine colour, and grows flat. It keeps taking over my lawn.
Please do a video on how to diagnose issues with the lawns and what we need to do to get rid of it.
Like what?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Like how to identify different diseases and how to fix them.

@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert I know, I watched them. I'd watch more of them.
@@sputnic3032 the key to trearing disease is to stop it happening rather than treating it once its here, as more n more fungicides get taken off we need to find more ways of treating
Hi Dan, really love your videos and you’ve inspired me to do a full lawn renovation. Which of your products would you recommend to feed a lawn that’s about 4 weeks old? I grew it from seed and have read to steer clear from iron based feeds. Love the channel and all the best. 👍🏻
Steller orbit grace dans magic and equilibrium
Dan, you mentioned that you cut the 2nd yard in this video 3 times a week. Have you considered using PGR. It looks great. I, too am an ALLETT user. Kensington 20 H.

How do you sharpen your lawnmower blades?
I havent on these but would take to the sharpeners
Hello Daniel, how do i control the red ants in my front lawn, theres loads been there for years. Ant powder does not quell them....they are doing my head in. Ant hills in the lawn, bare patches....i just want a nice green lawn is that too much to ask of these ants!! Gonna start charging them rent! Any workable help would be appreciated.
Not sure never had the issue!
Alright Dan, can I put down everything you have plus Resolva lawn weedkiller as I've got a few weeds coming through and grass is also going yellow/brown.
I wouldnt this time of year i like to do weedkiller separate
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Thanks Dan
Do you find that the seed heads from the overgrown lawn to the right travel across and impact the lawn you maintain?
Them lawns look fab. And by me flowing what you say my is looking great all my neighbours keep saying it is lovely so thank you for sharing your knowledge. By the way do you come from the same town as has Fred dibler the steeple Jack?
I do hence why i make reference to him in the what times kick off thumbnail video
Use to love his tv shows
Hi dan been following your progress for over a year now i had a monster time dealing with leatger jackets a poa still trying to get on top of it scalped the lawn this year fleeced and overseeded my question now is tge new grass seed has come through but tge lawn is now patchy with different shades of green will this fade in also using your products and fertiliser thx alan
Hard to say but worth a try?
Awesome!! I was looking for a video from you on the yellowing of the grass. I did a reno on mine following you videos and I looked mint and then recently, some blades started to go yellow! But I've cut and applied fertiliser and might do another, shorter cut to get them off. Any tips on what to do if we only have rotary mowers but want to lightly take some dead stuff off?
Hand rake?
That lawn looks amazing. What type of grass is that please? Dwarf perennial rye?
Correct
Lovely stuff!
I applied slow grow and Dan's magic a couple of weeks ago and the top growth has really slowed down.
Seen a bit of yellowing on the underneath so applied grace, Stella and orbit as they were due.
I don't have a verticut attachment so I did a very light scarify (highest level).
Am I ok to apply equilibrium and Dan's magic this weekend - last dose of equilibrium was about 5 weeks ago?
Yes get it on
Hi Dan, can I verticut with a normal scarifier cartridge?
I have a cobra scarifier with blades and also a spring tine cartridge.
Thanks
Yes if thats all you have
Geeky question. What colour nozzle 'size' do you use in your Berthoud pls Dan. Thanks..great vid.
Its a white hypro flat fan
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert thank you
I renovated mine late april, has come back really nice, just wondering when you would recommend giving it a light scarify
If it looks like it needs it yea, always 1 step back 3 forward your lawn will never look mint everyday for the whole of the summer, dont be fooled thinking wembley looks like matchday everyday just we dont see it constantly being groomed
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpertnever thought of it like that, thanks for the reply 👍🏻
Dan I have Barenbrug RPR which has a spreading ryegrass variety, would verticutting defeat the object of RPR ?
Yes absolutely
I have spent the last month digging annual meadow grass out of my front lawn. I have taken that long because doing it gets on the points of my bosoms after a while and i have to stop. My lawn now looks like the surface of the moon. hopefully i will be repairing that with grass seed by the end of the week. But i can see tiny AMG seedlings getting stronger. how do i stop those little blighters like you have with this lawn.?
Just gotta keep on going like on steves left hand side its hours and hours of work, just keep on looking for seed heads
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert hey Daniel what a good bloke you are. That is such an impressively swift response. If I wore a hat I would take it off to you.
OK so now that I have dug the big amg blighters out I have got to start on the seedlings which i can see more of. Do they need digging out too or can I just cut them off really short at the base with some sharp needle nose scissors?
@@Fatjack-jy8gs the seeds will keep dropping if you dont get them out, hopefully your lawn isnt too big,
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Thanks Daniel. I am just going to have to break the habit of a lifetime and stop being so damn lazy! Please keep up the good work you do so we can all learn about how to get better grass!
Hi Dan. Could you please tell me what u put on lawn to make it look like that.
All my products
Lawn heaven
That’s not Britains former best lawn, it IS Britains BEST lawn.
Is there anywhere you can buy the attachment with extra blades, or send one in to have more blades added?
Yeah allett just brought it out last month its called the grooming cartridge
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert struggling to find this - do you have a link?
What’s the name of this grass seed on this lawn
Dwarf rye
Doesn’t next doors small unkept meadow contaminate your side with lots off POA ?
Possibly but not my lawn noone lives therep
Looks ace ! Just ordered some
More gear ! 😂🤦♂️🤦♂️
How long was it since you last put fert on it please ?
Bout 3-4 week but its going to take 2 week to kick in so will be 5-6 before it kicks in, this lawn sand based so leaches nutrition quite bad.
Do you ever put a cheaky top up of any fertalisers inbetween the 2 week recommendation dan?
No no need to
I document on the updates,
Thanks for all the advice Dan
Unfortunately an Allett with all the attachments is way more expensive than i can afford , any cheaper options does anyone know ?
What is the best way to combat Ants in your lawn, I have followed everything you have done and have a great lawn, but recently I have seen three or four soil piles where the Ants are pushing the soil up. 100% Ants as when you scrape back the soil they have pushed out there are lots of ants and eggs.
Dunno as never had an issue, does ant powder not work?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Ant powder has a negative impact on the lawn
Nice one
Bring back the Emmett Brown hair cut!
I recently put Stella, Orbit sowpro and grace on my lawn and then a week later went in with Equilibrium at the recommended dose. Unfortunately it’s made my grass yellow and stop growing. I watered it jn immediately and continued with water every day multiple times weather permitting. Any ideas please? 😢
You will have missed areas with the equilibrium which is showing the colour of the old grass more
This always looks amazing Dan but i often wonder why the neighbour doesn't get you to sort their's too! Looking nice job mate
Nobody lives there
How can next door leave theirs so bad??
No one lives there lol
hey
That lawn almost looks as well groomed as Dans hair.
Gotta keep up the appearance.
It really annoys me that all the people who watch these videos dont like it for you Dan!! Really frustrating i mean, whats wrong with these people??
Well i dont like every video i watch so can’t be to harsh on them its not habit for most people, one thing i try not to be in life is a hypocrite
Apart from a verticutter attachment is there any other way of making the grass stand up. With either the scarfier or rake attachments ? Im having difficulty in some areas where the grass is so flat i cant get any purchase on it to cut it shorter? When i use the cylinder it just flattens the grass even more! Its really frustrating 😤😤 Thanks
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert I will be harsh for you then 😂
@@Egonomical yeah a scarifier, is it weed grass?
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert yes i was wondering if that might be the reason it looks like grass but it was after a scaryfy and overseed rather than from new so i was wondering if id left it in the ground and do i need to scaryfy again to get the flat grass out? Thanks
