I think the reason to mention HTC is because its good building quality (I know HTC doesn't look well now...) and also for Google doesn't have its own hardware factory. Foxconn also makes Xiaomi phones, but what kind of quality I'll get depends on mainly how much I payed.

Hello Youngsters...or Oldsters. Just wanted to clear up one mistake I made in the video. I accidentally said "UFC" instead of UFS 2.0 Storage so my apologies on that behalf. And HTC is the ODM of this phone, Google just kept the Pixel with Google Branding only. So that's what I meant by "built by HTC" at the beginning of the video. *Flies away*

I love my Pixel. You know that big chin on the bottom? Consuming media in portrait mode just became a lot more comfortable. Try that with a Sammy S6 or S7.

This doesn't mean it's a bad phone, but I do think phones like the OnePlus 3 are at least as good or better for the price.
Some Thing I almost got the one plus 3, but it isn't supported on Verizon so I got the Nexus 6P.
Some Thing this is more suited for the pure stock/custom Roms users or developers.

OnePlus 3 have some specs that make it a great phone but it can't really compare with the newer phones out there. It's basically customer preference to be honest. Pixel (as with every newer phones) have better processors and some specs than older phones that makes it worth the buy. Budget friendly-wise, I'd also buy the OnePlus 3 but I can never deal with the fact that I'll be missing out on the newer Android experience lol.
Actually HTC has nothing to do with the design. Google entirely designed the Pixel, they only used HTC manufacturers to build it.
Then why is HTC engineering code along with the HTC boot sequence used in the device? Explain that!
Well...that's what they say, but HTC definitely played a larger role in the design than Google is willing to admit.

I just got this over the weekend. Coming from an S6, this phone has way better battery life which was my biggest concern. So far so good. It's snappy and just works.

Coming from iPhone 7 Plus, it's just as fast. For the games I play I haven't noticed a difference. It's a really great phone. Some features just walk circles around iOS. Planning to keep it. ..

I switched the pixel do from my note 7 (which I think is the best phone this year, excluding the exploding part), and I got the 128gb black version and it's been amazing. Android 7 is fantastic, and I would recommend this phone as an upgrade to both android, and iPhone users.

Dont buy it, I tested it for a week. It is the most boring phone, especially for the price and the bezel is freaking huge! Really bad screen to body ratio which is the opposite of where phones are going.
That bezel on the screen bothers me too. In all honesty, I wish to stick with my LG G4 if it was actually stable with no hardware problems.

the issue is that everyone's setup is different, with different processes running in the background, different services being used, so other people's experiences may be different.
That being said, they're both wicked fast phones. That much is true.

Unlike the nexus phones, HTC only manufactured it, this was designed by Google. It may seem confusing to some people the way you explained it in the video.

Pixel, as a device, is definitely not exciting. But tell me one device that is...except from the newly announced Xiaomi Mi Mix. The user experience though with Pixel seems pretty exciting. In the sense that it now matches the iPhone in terms of hardware/software integration/optimization. And this is good news for all consumers. I predict that the next pixel will be much more exciting hardware wise. And let's not forget google assistant which will be "learning" and improving in the meantime...

People always give Apple shit for copying Android features or other phones with certain features, yet they seem to forget that every phone manufacturer copies each other. Fingerprint sensor, the long press on here is basically the same as Force Touch, Night Light is the same as the feature Apple added, etc. How about everyone just stops hating on the companies of phones they don't currently have just because that's the one they don't have?? Anyway, I still hate that Apple got rid of the headphone jack, so I'm considering moving over to the Pixel soon. We'll see...

Thanks for the video, as you've said in the last few minutes of this video, coming from a Nexus 6p and having tried even if only for about 5 minutes the Pixel and Pixel XL in store, I guess you're well be one Google flagships I've given a miss some the last time which read with the Nexus S.

I went into my local store on the weekend to check out the Pixel and Pixel XL I came away convinced that I need to break away from my iPhones (last 3 contracts upgrades have always been iPhones) but the Pixel blew me away. Great interface and speedy, sleek design and the camera is amazing partially in low light. Generally a good little phone and certainly more than I was expecting. Can't wait for my upgrade date!
When will it be back in stock through Google?! I can't stand Verizon anymore so I'm leaving them.

The software/hardware experience for this phone is the best I've touched. The fluidity is much better than the iPhone 7 I had for a week or so. This is the phone line that will eventually knock out the iPhone in the next few years. Great job Google!
Google Pixel is such a great phone that it have a 1080p display, Not Waterproof. Doesn't look as good as a S7. Most of all Galaxy S7 edge has a quad HD expandable memory and cheaper too.

Its got the Snapdragon 821. In English, that means it can practically handle anything you throw at it.
I've seen many reviews and yes the games don't lag but they do take some time to load.

Great video man, but in every single phone video I always hear the words "the phone is a bit slippery, nothing that a dbrand skin wont fix. link in the description". I mean most phones I used weren't slippery for me: Nexus 6P, iPhone 6s, S7 Edge, Note 5

I got the Pixel XL on the day it came out, outside of a couple issues in the software I am more than pleased!
the blank end at the bottom is lame , they should make use of it ! either make a bigger screen , even if dedicating it for the 3 basic buttons or makibg it capacitive and there are also lots of other ideas

Trexy Smexy nexus were google experience devices. While google had a hand in their design it wasn't to the extent of the pixel and the nexus' were marketed in a totally different way.

Trexy Smexy lol chill, it's highly likely that HTC did design the phone because mentions of a HTC Cerberus was everywhere in the Pixels' source code, and going by the codenames of past HTC devices it seems like the Pixels were supposed to become HTC phones but got turned into Google's phones. Google likely just decides what chipsets and camera etc goes into the phone and not the design lol

what do you need a SD card for when you have unlimited online photo and drive storage at high quality. pixel users only get unlimited storage. I have the 32gb and haven't come close to touching max phone storage.

after a good initial release, if this phone does not get a price drop soon it will be a flop. Not worth it for the features to price ratio. No water resistance, no SD slot, No stereo speaker, and no wireless charging and they want to charge $770 for 32gb XL model. Thats bananas and just as bad as the iPhone
Depends how you look at it from a business perspective.
"The production cost of a 32GB Pixel XL is just $285.75, including $7.75 in basic manufacturing costs, according to IHS Markit...given that the 32GB Pixel XL is priced at $769, that’s a $483.25 net income for Google" (Android Authority)
Say at the current price they sold say 1 Million phones, their profit would be $483M.
Say they dropped the price by 50% to $385 (the price of the Nexus 5) then their net income per phone drops to $98.75. To make that same $483M profit they'd need to sell 5 Million phones.
You'd say 5 Million is a lot more than 1M, but they'd make the same bottom-line to Google's price.
So what they are doing is, because iPhone shows this, talking up features, making you WANT some feature you didn't want til you saw it - manipulate your gullibility - and then those who are not gullible won't buy it for the price but the minority who are easily manipulated you can make a healthy profit off them.
So iSheep and now Googletards. It works. I notice the Pixel out of stock in most combinations.
It's not translated to net income since there are many other costs attached, but you can bet a big share of the price is net income. Around 50%.
It's selling pretty damn well. Just like iPhone users, people that like the pixel care more about the quality of software, the ecosystem and the updates. Something Android has always been horrible at except for Nexus and Moto. People that care about tech don't just look at specs. Specs are useless without well programmed software. Like he said, this phone will be up to date and feel fast and fluid for at least two years and maybe more. So instead of buying a Shitsung that doesn't get updates or gets them extremely late, and then runs their pedotouchwiz software on it, this phone will kill it.

Have been using the Pixel XL as my daily driver for the last 5 days and it is awesome! Everything about this device says premium, premium, premium. Coming from the Nexus 6 this thing feels like a jet engine compared to a bicycle. Everything is buttery smooth even with the higher resolution display of the XL. If you're looking to upgrade in 2016 this is the phone for you!
edit: To all the haters out there: y'all just jelly you got stuck with Samsung bloatware or another boring iDevice.

It's important to talk about something when making a purchase that often gets overlooked - service. I had my Nexus 6P for less than a year and it was still under warranty. After, the Nougat update, it would not stream music without shutting off. After about 6 hours deliberating with Google over the phone, chatting, and with e-mail, they finally offered me a new phone. I was so stressed out about how bad they were at customer service, that I decided to never buy anything from the Google store again. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER AGAIN! Awful service. I did everything thing they said to attempt to resolve the issue. My phone didn't even have a scratch on the screen. Obviously software issue. They did offer me a new phone after a couple of weeks. I told them no thanks and purchased an unlocked iPhone 7 from the Apple store online. At least if I have an issue, I can make an appointment and go to the mall to speak with someone from Apple. Take my advice, don't purchase from Google. They should stick to what they're good at, email and maps.

Good speaker sound.....always. I've been buying smartphones since the iphone in 2008 and I've NEVER dropped my phone in the toilet, taken it into the shower, pool, hot tub, etc. A few drops in the rain, yes, but that's it. This deal with the water resistance is a nice feature to have, but is it really necessary for most people or just a really fantastic marketing tactic?
I agree with the water resistance, it's over-rated as that is mainly good for people who wants to swim with their phones.

Not denying my comment was subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder doe. A lot of people didn't like the design of the 6P last year and then got used to it. I think the same will happen here.

Amazing but then you later say it feels like any other flagship phone, interesting. I think the phone is over hyped. It is clear they tried to copy the iPhone in looks and they waited after the 7 was introduced to try and steal the show and sales. Because lets face it, the iPhone is appealing to many, simple and well put together. Even with all those so called high specs, it is slower than the 7, heck my 6 plus matched its single core scores lol. Unlimited cloud storage sounds good, but lets face it, not many actually need or will probably use it. You can get away with 128gb no problem and i can prove that. I have over 4,000 photos, HD and regular (photographer), 400 HD videos, 100 apps, A lot of music and more, still not full after two years and i am a power user. The only Android out that seems cool is the Xiaomi Mi Mix. Now waiting for the comments trying to defend this ugly phone lol

I'll agree with you on the fact that they tried to snag sales from the iPhone 7 (because releasing this a little over a month after the 7 isn't a coincidence), and most everything else but the one thing you can't say about the Pixel is that it's slow, because lower overall resolution with snapdragon 821 and 4gb of ram is gonna produce a beast of a phone in terms of being fast or slow
In comparison to the 7 and 7 plus it is. I mean, if it is so fast and woth the latest tech, why does my 2 year old 6plus match it in single core scores?

Best review yet. A lot of people are hating on the Google Pixel, but if I put the same attitude towards Apple's iphone 7, I could find a lot more wrong with it. Look at how much Google has improved compared to Apple in the past couple years. If there's one thing that even gets close to standing out on the iphone 7, its the non-existent headphone jack.

I went from a oneplus 3 to this. It is unbelievably better in performance. When I saw that my snapchat actually worked how it is suppose to work, I almost cried tears of joy.
