Scorpion mgl vs Scorpion dc. I'm looking to buy one or the other
Why did you tight the DC spool? Shimano says the most effective way DC works when spool has slight side to side play.
Can you do a comparison between the curado dc and Chronarch Mgl since they are close in price?

I'll get rocks thrown at me for this but i would just fine tune them to constantly throw 25 or 30 feet less with no chance of over run and no thumb using a 1/2 ounce and that should give plenty of lead way down to a 1/4 or up to 3/4 with little or no magnetic adjustment.
That is why people buy Daiwa's.
30 feet mean a lot for moving baits.
ya, rocks have now been thrown. max distance is everything to me as a bank angler. once you get used to a certain type of braking system it's very easy to use the bare minimum braking with lots of side to side spool play and still never backlash(given you don't hit a tree or something next to you, in that case even with heavy braking you will backlash) if you have good thumb control.
@@logicalrationalfishing7481 daiwas sacrifice a lot of distance with their braking system compared to shimano. svs infinity may not be as user friendly to people just starting in bass fishing but it's far superior for max distance for those that have thumb control and experience with their brakes.
Don't get it you run 4 brakes on in on the water test and1 on for this test on the k and scorpion mgl. It makes no sense. If your going to backlash it doesn't matter if your on land or water.set them up like your going to fish them. How many overruns did you get with the scorpion set on 1 and 1 1/2?

because theres a difference between a small, dense casting plug that cuts through the air like a bullet vs a lure that has hooks and can tumble... how about doing some thinking before commenting?

Did you check the weight of the casting practice plug? Had an unpleasant surprise with my Berkley plug. Listed as 7.5g but actually weighs 10.7g!

Thank for this video was going to get a scorpion but I will just get one more dc reel I think plus. Here in Australia it's not cheap to buy Shimano THE DC IT'S $450 and curado k $350.

what are your suggestions for using the Curado DC on setting 1? I have 30 lb braid and I can use no thumb until it hits the water on setting 2 (tension as shimano recommended), but the second I use setting 1, it backlashes with no thumb mid cast. Am I better off keeping it on 2 and getting good distance with no fear of a backlash, or squeezing the extra distance with 1 and higher tension?

I don't know how other people might feel about it, to me a 1/4oz casting plug is a very light lure and we saw how close it got with the Curado DC when it got up to 1/2oz. I would argue in the real world, some may fish even heavier lures which by my estimation will probably negate pretty much most if not all of the difference in performance. In that sense, I wouldn't read too much into it, it is what it is, the Scorpion MGL is just a prettier looking Curado K with a nicer paint job. And I don't mean it in a negative way. Sure if you have a distinct preference in using lures at the lighter end of the scale such as 1/4oz or less, then you may notice some of that difference in performance. But, otherwise I am just glad I will be getting one mainly because of that lovely red paint job. That is also evident in many of the Japanese unboxing TH-cam videos and trust me you won't need to be able to speak Japanese to see it. LOL.
I forgot to mention in the previous video that it does pitch better. Easier and slightly longer. I did notice that.

I would go with the 70 or the mgl. The scorpion dc is supposedly VERY good...it’s a better performing dc system than the curado or slx dc. However, for things like 1/4 oz jigs and worms, the smaller reels/spools are really the way to go. That’s right in their wheelhouse
The 71 or the Mgl cause the dcs don’t cast very far

My guess on Scorpion MGL's performance difference on real lure and plugs is because, well, given the aerodynamic characteristics of real lures, some of them can only fly that far, even without any restrain. That's why you don't see much difference between Scorpion MGL and Curado K, because that's as far as that lure can fly. But plugs on the other hand, have a lot more flying potential compared to real lures, allowing the MGL to show its advantage over the K.
Agree, real lures with two, three treble hooks on them make the difference very little. Same applies to spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.
I hope your using same rods on all of them I have 2 diff rods that cast my 2 same Curado ks 2 diff distances

I personally think the scorpion DC will destroy both of them.
I have both and although I didn't measure the casts I used same rod and lure for both reels and I would say the scorpion DC beat the mgl by a couple feet. It was still very close though.

I assume you are a fan of “Enjoy Fishing” he uses Casket Mark Spider equipment. Why can’t I find them on the web?
He actually is Casket. Id try to find his email and see where you can try to import one. Or just email different shops and see if they can source one. Personally I dont think the Casket rods are anything special because those JDM guys dont really cast any super ultralight lures. I rarely see them fishing anything under 1/8th.
