    Accuracy vs Distance
When i started playing disc golf all i ever did was throw the disc as far as i could . It would land everywhere bushes, behind tress, next fairway over. The thing was my score was not improving. It was just sitting at about -3 under. Not until i decided to start to throw more accurate did i start to lower my score. Throwing far is great but if you can not get the disc to land were it needs to be it's better to pole back some and be more accurate.

I’m in for accuracy too. I’ve been playing with a friend for 9 months and he’s all in on distance. His best score is better than mine, however, his rounds are more likely to get out of hand, whereas I’m very consistent with my scores

Aloha Anriilves, Ya but as you get better the accuracy will help your scores. I like the idea that I'm controlling the disc better. Makes me feel more confident . I think I was on average 35 to 40 feet on all my putts before I started to throw more accurate. Then I started to get my disc inside 30 feet. That's when my scores started to drop. Keep it up. Aloha Michael

I completely agree with you as I love course with 300 and something foot shots that are tight and in woods, but problem is with every one throwing further and further and distance winning tournaments (stupid concept), everyone is pushing course to these longer distances and the challenge is 400 ft shots in some wood shots. I still can’t throw more than 330 so this is very difficult to me.

Aloha fishblade2, So even though the guys on tour throw far they need to still be accurate. I remember a touring pro said ( his name Eagle, I didn't start winning till I poled back on just trying to throw as far as possible". He had to become more accurate. But here are some fun facts for you. There was a pole done on how far pros are throwing on average. Think it was my be 4 years ago. I did a video on this but here are there numbers. 450 - 500 2% ,
      400 - 450. 8%
      350 - 400. 22%
      300 - 350. 30%
Lots of these big throws are one off not the average of the person. Aloha Michael

So I have a hard time with this I love working in the field and trying to push my distance I haven’t hit 300 feet yet I believe that is all due to form issues

Aloha wlp283, So practicing is a great start, only why to learn. It takes time to start to get everything put togeather but just keep throwing as hard as you can. Also pay attention to how your disc finishes its flight on a long throw. You want your disc to land forwards or just off of center. If your disc is finishing hard hyzer (left) you want to throw a more under stable disc. Very important to get the disc to land forwards on your throw. Aloha Michael
