Better than the first, the chemistry of the leads only gets better. The action and scale improve with a satisfying finally. With more of the family the introduction of Joe Pesci ranting and the comedy element being a strength. This is a really good action sequel.
Another classic my grandma introduced to me at 6 years old. Her favorite line is when the villain says “diplomatic immunity” & Glover says “It’s just been revoked”, she always busted up laughin
They did a Mythbusters episode on the toilet scene. They found that freezing the bomb with liquid nitrogen actually worked better in real life than in the movie. It would delay the explosion for about 15 minutes. They also found that jumping in a bathtub like that would save your life, but you'd likely suffer hearing damage from the explosion.
Tht ending after Riggs gets shot was originally supposed to end with his death. They rewrote the scene but used some of the same footage, like the camera panning out with all the cop cars coming too late as Riggs died.
For the detective, his own personal vehicle was under department coverage because he is a plain clothes, however, his wife's car is under their personal insurance. The department would make allowance for his personal vehicle due to it serving as his 'squad car', but the coverage from the department only transfers to his person/body. However, the act of commandeering a vehicle can make the department responsible for damages, yet the insurance companies will fight with each other over it. Usually, only an innocent party unable to escape the path of destruction, will be covered. Insurance has changed since then, and is less fair toward the innocent parties nowadays.
"They F**K you in the drive thru ok!? They F**K you in the drive thru!" ... such an iconic line and still holds true today!! Btw.. I grew up in the Long Beach/San Pedro area of L.A. Then I dropped out of college to live and work in Hollywood all through the 90s. Good times, bad times, eh.. not a way life for everyone. I had my fun and moved on. This movie ends at the harbor showing the Vincent Thomas bridge in the background. This bridge connects Long Beach to San Pedro. Sadly in 2012, I think, director Tony Scott (Top Gun and others) jumped from the bridge taking his own life. RIP Tony Scott
This franchise is one of the best all time. I love everything about it. Danny and Mel are the best cop duos in my opinion because their chemistry is natural and doesn’t seem forced. Very believable partners that care about one another that become family. Can’t wait for you to watch the rest.
Great reaction and that plastic scene I quoted when my boss was going off about payroll, labor and food cost. It was he and I only in the store at the moment so while he ranted and I listened, I casually looked on the floor. He asked what was I doing and I told him just making sure I wasn't standing on plastic. It made him laugh and broke his rant into laughter.
Having seen those two movies you should definitely watch the spoof "Loaded Weapon 1" featuring Emilio Estevez, Samuel L. Jackson, Jon Lovitz, Charlie Sheen, William Shatner, Whoopi Goldberg, Tim Curry and a shockingly large number of other actors. It's fabulous.
Mythbusters tested the toilet bomb, and freezing it like that in reality would have given the guys time to actually run out of the house. Other note: Most movie bombs that are told to be 'tamperproof', aren't. Pulling out the blasting cap, or just cutting the two wires in it, will make it safe. Unless it has super special custom parts, then there is no way for it to get a signal once the blasting cap is cut away. I used to work with a bomb tech back in the day.
Hey Ladies, thanks for doing this one and I hope you watch the whole series! To me they are all absolutely worthy! Mel Gibson, Danny Glover and Joe Pesci? Yesss please!!
2 is my fave of the series. Joe Pesci is the secret ingredient that really makes the comedy of the series pop. "He is... You are..." 🤣🤣🤣 After 3, there is a parody - Loaded Weapon 1 - that you will really enjoy. Watching Basic Instinct makes a few jokes funnier also.
I'm glad you two are continuing with this franchise. I have to agree, I think this one was better than the first. The action and comedy are ramped up and with the addition of Joe Pesci, it was when these movies started to become more of an ensemble.
The first movie is really good, but this one is just FUN. The third one is also lots of fun, and brings in yet another great new character. You'll really enjoy it.
I learned that kaffir is the equivalent to the N word in South Africa because of this movie. I was able to make that connection aloud for my students when we read a short story called "Kaffir Boy". The depth of this movie is AMAZING!!!!
And yeah, their chemistry is fantastic. So much better than the first, but it’s natural. Like they’ve actually been working as partners, fighting crime since the last movie 😂 It’s great!
The original ending had Riggs actually dying in Roger's arms. When the camera pans upwards, Riggs isn't moving. Studio thought this would be too bleak of an ending, so they changed it.
Yeah!! the dream team again awesome reaction guys!😊The reaction to the commericial was hilarious and my favourite part of the video Stephs face and the noises coming from Kristen i can't 🤣🤣These movies keep getting better the chemistry too and we get Leo Gettz for the first time "okay okay okay" Lethal weapon 3 is my personal favourite!
The real key to major franchises is the quality of the 2nd film. There are exceptions, but the first sequel sets the bar. Totally agree about Empire, so much of the SW franchise is based around the things it added to the story.
I love the jokes that you get. Back when these things first aired we did not have the sensitivity that has come with the newer generations. You guys are great because you get the subtle jokes just like you did in Die Hard.
The screenwriter, Shane Black, quit the film, and the franchise, because he wanted Riggs to die at the end. The studio wanted to continue the franchise so they brought someone in to rewrite the ending.
The mental gymnastics a man has to go through to figure out how to approach a woman and not be labeled a stalker has made it where men just say "fuck it" and don't bother at all.
@@clevelandcbi Women also wearing stuff that either makes men very uncomfortable or want to hit on them is also a big problem. But again, women can't see the consequences of their actions. Of course you have to complete the saga which is very good, but also watch Mel Gibson's films as a director such as: Braveheart, The Passion of The Christ, Apocalypto and Hacksaw Ridge, Mel Gibson is a great director, very auteur cinema.
The first three are all really close to how good they are, you could argue for each one that it's the best in the series. The fourth wasn't quite on the same level in my opinion, but it's still a solid action flick and worth the watch.
Steph, you're really hitting the Joel Silver trifecta, with _Lethal Weapon_ , _Die Hard_ and now _Lethal Weapon 2_ . Jennifer and Suzanne Todd started their careers as Silver's assistants on this movie, then associate producers on _Die Hard 2_ and _Predator 2_ before launching their own prodco, Team Todd. That's the Hollywood equivalent of starting your military career in 1944 with the invasion of Normandy.
Just FYI @07:30 the word that start with the letter 'K' and rhymes with 'gaffer' is South Africa's version of the word that starts with the letter 'N' and rhymes with 'digger'. The 'K' word is considered a 'hate' crime in South Africa and people have actually paid fines and even gone to jail for saying this word here.
I love watching the two of you reacting to this movie. Your fun and timely comments were really entertaining. Joe Peace was great in this. His range as an actor is amazing. Compare his character here and Home Alone with his performance in Goodfellas and Casino. They are like night and day. Keep up the fun reactions.
If you enjoyed this movie, y'all should watch "Tequila Sunrise" (1988) with Mel Gibson, Kurt Russell, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Raul Julia. Great movie! ❤
Great reaction ladies! The second was even better than the first, though I hated seeing Patsy Kensit dying. 😲 The chemistry between the -two- three leads was great, with Pesci's Leo Getz being the icing on the cake. I love that Roger's family really has adopted Riggs and he's just another family member now. That stability has had a lot to do with Riggs attaining some levels of psychological stability though it obviously still amuses him way too much to pretend he's crazy. Unlike standard buddy cop movies where there's no real character depth, these movies delve into a lot of situations that are not standard buddy cop fare. That's why these are the movies I'll happily watch over and over while some others I don't even watch once. Just superior work all around.
I was really disappointed that you 2 didn't get that it really was love at first sight for them. It happened at the house. And then she fell further at the grocery store. You got it in the end. When she died. They killed both of them. I cried. I felt so sorry for him. When this movie was filmed, the classic "MOVIE" bad guys were russions or germans. This movie went with South Africans and it kind of shocked everyone, but they were great as "bad" guys. Leo (Joe Pesci) was great. Please watch the rest of them.

The Lethal Weapons were a big part of my childhood. HBO started doing behind the scenes specials hosted by Mel Gibson on the Lethal Weapons starting with the second movie that were pretty entertaining too.

Still think the first one is the best but this is a good sequel.
The first one is still the best buddy cop movie. Riggs in the first was the quintessential loose cannon
Another classic my grandma introduced to me at 6 years old. Her favorite line is when the villain says “diplomatic immunity” & Glover says “It’s just been revoked”, she always busted up laughin
Wholeheartedly agree. This is the strongest. Such slimy villains. 3rd is the weakest. 4th is a good bookend.
@@Goofyguy4ever The 3rd was my least favorite
“It’s just been revoked” Danny Glover’s best in film quote ever
Nope.
Predator 2 when he kills the predator and he's surrounded by predators "Okay. Who's next?" is his best line.
These two have become the dream team. The Lethal Weapon series is one of the best ever! The rest of the series is a must.
28:25 - “Narc” is slang for Narcotics Officer, which is what Riggs was before he was partnered with Murtaugh.
They did a Mythbusters episode on the toilet scene. They found that freezing the bomb with liquid nitrogen actually worked better in real life than in the movie. These two doing 80s action movies is the best choice ever on this channel.

“In one ear, out the rubber,” is one of my favorite lines in anything ever 😂😂😂
"In one ear, out the rubber" is also your mother's favourite.
"You think the police covers that?"
To quote Bad Boys 2: "The Department does not cover personal property, that's why we drive police cars."
I love the fact that both leads get to be heroes. Their onscreen chemistry is so great!
- “Because you’re black.”
- “You are. He is.”
And then Leo, “But, but, but… You’re black.” 🤣🤣🤣

This man called Loaded Weapon "fabulous".... It's awful. It's about as funny as stubbing your toe.
It's good
17:03 I love the growth so much. From Riggs being ready to die in the first one, to him telling Murtaugh he’s not planning on going just now 🥹
Joey Pants said it best in Bad Boys 2. Police dept doesn't cover personal property, that's why we drive police cars.

Part 3 was OK
Mythbusters tested the toilet bomb, and freezing it like that in reality would have given the guys time to actually run out of the house.

Well for the purposes of story telling, they do have those advanced components.

Cheer Down playing as the camera pans away from the pair laughing & bleeding is the most iconic action movie ending for me

Yes

Lethal Weapon 3 is also good with lady cop, Lorna Cole (Rene Russo), teaming up with them both.
Hope your finger heals well. Both of you had a blast!
Yeah these movies are great. They nailed the comedy between both and when they add another character, they all gel very very well.
They nailed a couple of the bad guys too 😅
