That was always a fan theory from the first one because on top of the fact that Max and Lucilla heavily implied to have had an on and off affair for many years, the fact that the last thing he wants to know before he dies is if Lucius is alright.
Not true though. It's reconning. Lucinda & Maximus have a conversation at the beginning of the movie. Both gush about their boys being 8 years old. Besides Maximus never been to Rome until he was a gladiator.
@phoenixrising8231 it wasn't retconned, Ridley mentioned in 2006 that Lucius was the son of Lucilla and Maximus. Hints were dropped in the first movie.
Never made much sense. Lucillas and Maximus son were the same age. Maximus presumably had his son while he was with his wife in Spain, how would he have impregnated Lucilla in Rome? Doubt Maximus rode to Rome, cheated on his wife, returned to Spain, and never spoke to Lucilla again for the next 8 years. Hanno's wife tattoos are legitimate Berber style tattoos, as both Berber men and women had face tats before the Arab conquest converted them to Muslim. As a reward, Rome gave the Numedians to the Berbers as a tribute kindgom. They then annexed Numedia into the Roman empire after going to war with and defeating the real Jugurtha...which happens about 300 years before this movie is set 😂

I thought Napolean should have actually been called "Josephine"...it would have fit the movie rather than a great name like Napolean and have it slander and dissappoint.
The story is done. Lucius will give Rome back to the senate and lead it through the transition to becoming a republic. The only logical reason for a 3rd movie, from a story perspective, is if Lucias loses his way and ends up being corrupted by power and all that jazz. But that kinda taints the dream that is Rome. We're meant to root for that dream and see Rome be a thriving Republic because after years of war, Marcus Aurelius realized that it was all for naught. And he wanted to be known (in the film) as the emperor who gave Rome back to the people. That's what Maximus fought for. That's what Lucius is ultimately able to fulfill. It's the end of the story.
The Twin Emporers, the Wolf and what happened to Lucilla after Comodos is intriguing and a cauldron for the emotion 2 is lacking. I think a prequel to 2 would be much richer than continuing the story.

Fully agree that final speech was a bit underwhelming. His speech before the final fight was wayyy better and hit much harder. Overall still liked the movie a lot. I saw lots of negative reviews before i watched it so i did go in with kinda low expectations. Luckily they were exceeded.
1:24:06 Sorry, they clearly showed at the beginning that Hano was already a leader from the get go. He lead the defence of Numedia against the Roman fleet and later he quickly became the leader fo all the gladiators. Im not sure what she's blabbing about. And age has nothing to do with it like he said the guy is 28. The guy has no charisma or gravitas and that matters when you are the main lead and the viewer expect you to carry them throughout the journey. This movie was mediocre.

This movie should never have been made for $310 million dollars.
@@jo-elbrown5893didn't paramount officials say it was less?
Great action, I loved how the story continued. Great acting from all, but Denzel was amazing!
Let’s watch Baby Boy 2001 with Tyrese Gibson
I very much enjoyed the first 3/4’s of this movie, the ending was pretty terrible
I'd rather Ridley not have made a sequel in the first place. The first movie is perfect and had a great ending.
@ yeah a sequel was unnecessary but it’s real now and it was meh
In real history Marcinus wins. He's emperor for only 3 months though.
Guys react to SIKANDAR teaser 🔥🔥
Wait, you guys didn’t review this movie?
Y'all should watch the "Spartacus" series that was on Starz 💡👍👍👍
They were starving baboons
The film needs Yul Brenner...
Complete your Harry potter series ASAP
the emperor looks like robert downey jr been swimming in the devil's dandruff.
He from Strangers Things
In contrast with you Jaby, I was thinking more of Assassins creed Orgins
Ps take mo notice of him your stunning❤❤❤❤
Wow I'm so amazed at the way these people have somehow built trebuchet about what, 800 years before they were invented ? LOL I won't even bother going any further because I could probably spend an hour pointing shit out that don't make sense and I've only got 20 minutes into the movie....
I am more amazed at the SO badly contrived "plot" of the "story" and endless modern tropes which are being acted out pretty bad most of the time...
But the "historical accuracy" is funny as well 😅
Well the war between Jugurtha and the romans happened like 300 years before Caracalla's reign.
Watch "Alexander" the extended version 💡👍
please react to marco movie
Low budget Bill Murray? Jesus 😂😂😂😂
Is the Emperor Eddie from "Stranger Things" lol get ya 💰 homie 😂
Fully agree that final speech was a bit underwhelming.
His speech before the final fight was wayyy better and hit much harder.
Overall still liked the movie a lot. I saw lots of negative reviews before i watched it so i did go in with kinda low expectations. Luckily they were exceeded.
Gladiator 2 is a good film 🎥🎞👍

Sorry, they clearly showed at the beginning that Hano was already a leader from the get go.
GLADIIIATOR is in development for 2027/2028.
Fr?
Yeah on a rewatch, I just can't shake the feeling that this film feels completely unnecessary. To anyone who hasn't seen it already, I would advise you to save your time and money and just watch the first one again.
Let's be honest: 90% of the movie's success is Denzel! Btw Ridley Scott told that he already started to work on Gladiator III 😬
Movie bombed brah it aint a sucess
Did you both know, that recently Denzel Washington was baptized and became a Minister.
I would like to believe paul mescal is actually the ufc fighter islam makhachev playing gladiator
