I love this bio of The Band, and that Harry Dean Stanton, who Levon loved so much, is doing the narrative, this is so great!
Garth's smile is so contagious
A musician's musician indeed
I can listen to these guys talk about the good old days 24/7!!!
BAND OF ARTISTS....They set the standard. Greatest of all time.
i sure do miss them too
Thank you!

These dudes are for real
Could listen to these stories forever 😎
The Hawks were the total Package, these guys lit up Yonge street, Garth talks so baritone, hard to believe Him and Robbie are the only two still with us...
Only Garth Now.
still love this music!
The best!!
14:24 These guys were so cool, It could not be contained! They are famous because they are all originals! Tell me God does not have a plan for a Band!
Awesome... Great Bio
I dig it
No. 2 band
The greatest American rock band was 4/5th Canadian!!!!
1:35 Narrator says Ronnie Hawkins' first Canadian recruit was Robbie Robertson when that was Canadian, Scott Cushnie. No reason to get that fact wrong. Robbie Robertson in Testimony says Ronnie's piano player Scott Cushnie greeted Robbie Robertson when he got off the bus after it arrived in Fayetteville AK. Earlier, RR and Cushnie were in a band together in Toronto called "The Suedes." When bass player Jimmy Evans left the Hawks in 1960, Scott “Magoo” Cushnie (later known as "Professor Piano") was the one that talked Ronnie Hawkins into hiring Robbie Robertson as his replacement.
Hmmmm. 1:55 Also from Testimony p. 72, RR says that Fred Carter felt very competitive towards him despite his being considerably younger and inexperienced and that Carter didn't like any one trespassing on his turf and made a "snide remark about my practicing all the time" and the teenager retorted that "someday I'm gonna cut you."
BONUS 5:04 "Dion and the original Belmonts" on the marquee!
13:52 Levon follows Dylan to Woodstock? Doesn't mention Levon's return to his band because he doesn't mention his leaving. Starting to not like this. Most of the time it only take a couple of more words to be accurate.
Shut up
Never heard of people having differing memories of certain events? It's actually quite common. What good have you done here apart from remembered/believed what you've heard/read. What makes yours true? 🤔
Is Levon twirling his left stick?
He had traditional grip if that's what you mean?
The Band announcing that they were quitting , having a special last show , and then continuing to tour , messed up their public image . It made them look like they couldnt sell out a hall without saying it was their last show . Show biz messiness aside , their first three albums are very good .
Probably a matter of opinion. And Robbie did quit touring🤷🏼♀️
Ronnie hawkins said levon never wrote anything and robbie done everything! Robbie new who to pay off
Lol you’re full off of it. Rather than Ronnie saying his view on it honestly, he must be paid off. Check out Levon’s writing credits on his solo albums. There are hardly any. Robbie wrote the songs, that’s established fact
The coveted 666 "like"
John Hammond trying to act black.
No wonder they never made it! The Beatles were in Hamburg while they were stuck in fifties
They did make it. They were critically acclaimed, and had and have many fans.
I think he means the "Hawkes" never made it and he has a point
That could be, that certainly makes more sense. Although Ronnie Hawkins was quite popular, but didn't make it nationally or internationally. Supposedly John Lennon stay with him when he and Yoko were in Toronto, and I think he was the Clinton inaguration. @@paularockwood2055
@@paularockwood2055 Okay I will agree with that.
George Harrison wanted to quit the Beatles and join them. They made Clapton quit Cream. You must mean The Hawks.
