I've been an Irelia one trick pony in League of Legends for as long as I can remember. Irelia got reworked recently, and as much as I loved it at first, I soon found myself struggling to figure out her new abilities. Riot likely wont ever revert the changes, so if I want to keep maining Irelia I had to learn her new kit. Out of options and desperate for some sort of resolution I knew what I had to do - so I booked a ticket to South Korea, the League of Legends capital of the world, in search of answers.

tbh the thing with the aa's in between makes a lot of sense. I thought gbay knew that you have to stack the minions to be on low hp so insta 5 stacks at lvl 1 and easy kill but tbh I expected sth more spicy

I that kiin has had much more longevity in his talented career then theshy. theshy was only a usually 1 almost 2 season pop off top laner whose hype has already died down meanwhile kiin has consistantly been the best top laner in korea for 4 seasons now. you could argue at times khan was better but there are situation reasons to that argument

@@iceicejay9569 don't get me wrong Kiin is amazing, but Kiin joined AF in 2017 (before that he was in CK with E8W), the same year TheShy joined IG. From then til now IG has won the LPL regular season a few times and spring 2019 (with TheShy being the MVP of Spring 2019 playoffs), Worlds 2018, rift rivals, etc...AF has one Kespa Cup this year, that's all.
Also, TheShy has made a case not only for best top laner, but for best players in the world, period, in the last few years, and although the LPL has been delayed this season, IG is leading the competition, and TheShy has been looking pretty good.
So although I don't think Kiin is a slouch and there's no comparison, Kiin hasn't had more longevity nor more success than TheShy. But again, Kiin is probably the best top laner in LCK, and definitely one of the best in the world.
this is a problem also where I value consistency above all else. and theshy i feel is just too inconsistent

I haven't even gotten to your redemption moment (I hope) in this vid, but I really connected with that first part.
I used to love old Irelia because it allowed me to face any matchup with the certainty that I could win If I showed I was better than my oponent, regardless of which champion was better. Then new Irelia came and, well... you said it yourself.

I literally can't explain to you how much i relate to this video. I played irelia for about 3 seasons straight. She became literally my favorite champ pretty quick, and i played her almost every. single. game. I stopped playing this game for a little while, and made a dedicated attempt to come back to it just to play new Irelia, seeing as the old one was gone forever. I still can't come back to this game, because all i want to do is play irelia, and i can't seem to grasp the game and new irelia's playstyle. I really really REALLYYYYYYYYYY miss old Irelia...
Please, make more videos regarding Irelia's playstyles, and tips and tricks. This made me super happy seeing a fellow irelia one trick find their momentum and feel good about the games their playing and feel like they're taking something from each game. I literally know EXACTLY how you felt when you were learning her, not catching it, and feeling like she just wasn't for you anymore, because i went through the same exact thing only to find myself again... searching for videos on youtube on how to adapt to new irelia or if there was something that i just wasn't taking advantage of that was causing me a lack of success. I feel like i've already realized that you need to setup minions to make irelia work, in terms of her passive and damage. I downloaded league on my labtop again for the first time since i've had it. (got it last year for christmas) and i'm super excited to try her out again. Just waiting for the current update to finish. Best of luck, Gbay!

I was thinking about it recently, and I think Gbay has the best documentaries and historical League content in this platform.
Not only because he puts his soul, heart, and, most of the time, his own personal background and storylines into the actual docs, but because *all* the content he has made over the years is a fascinating and REALLY entertaining look at how League has evolved.
Like, if you watch the first Road to Diamond series he made (and practically invented), you get to understand the old Runes System and Dynamic Queue. And it just grows from there, man. I have to say, the old items are CRAZY, and I know about them only because I watched Gbay's videos, which are, again, really entertaining. Not to mention the old background music, jesus. For some reason I find it really nostalgic when watching the new ones.
I think his main, Irelia, and his constant struggle with her changes (the catalyst for this video in particular) is a good reflection of all this. You can actually go back and watch how he played and loved the character, and understand the old mechanics because of it (he probably took so long to understand the minion thing because in old Irelia you just needed one low health minion to stun someone and do the combo). AND HER ULT WAS SO WEIRD BACK THEN. What happened ?

I loved this episode, and to be honest I mainly watched your channel back in the day for the Irelia, especially as I once mained her aswell. To be frank, I was kind of dissapointed to see you give up on her, especially after I had tried her out a good bit for myself. I realised she fits way better in to todays rift so I found you a bit stubborn. It annoyed me you didn't work on her more, but I could understand it. Then the gold-skill montage in the end was enough to give me a bit of the chills, seeing you starting to thrive on her. It's really warming to see you back and engaged in Irelia. hoenstly....I just came back to league after 2 years of not playing and I too was disappointed to find one of my most played champs of all time, Irelia, was changed to the point my play style no longer worked with her. I use to play her in top, mid, and jungle in the old days and saw pretty good success overall, but didnt see any of that anymore after I returned. My biggest struggle was the passive and as simple as the tip was I think it showed me truely how important it is to pay attention to the over all health pool of minions for the new irelia playstyle. So I just wanted to say thank you, because you got the answer for many old school irelia players who loved the champ.
