Tracer 7 with those upgrades should be great
Yeah, and while I realize that the world doesn't revolve around the US, I wish that they'd stop @#$%'n around and bring it to the States!
@@ReQuiem_2099i agree with you about bringing certain things to the US market from EU or Japan’s market, but you do realize that if the US pull funding from every single country has a lions with those countries would go bankrupt or at least be really struggling at the minimum all in all, not trying to start an argument, but I’m just saying that the US has a lot more hand and other countries markets than you think they do
The front end does look badass!
That’s Töne wrong way around then ?!
I believe that a lot of bike models should have an SP version for a more premium form, feel, and function. Not least the MT07. I have said this of the Honda 750 hornet, also.
The MT07 is weak and it would be pointless to put a Ohlin shocks on it. Its a good bike for what it is. But its not fast enough to justify a beefed up suspension.
Finally. Much needed and deserved overhaul for this legendary bike.
Peh, have you ever seen a mc manuf company send a team of its tech boiz out at night, in contrasting dry and rainy conditions, to assess the effectiveness of its product's road light?
Wow! It actually looks great! Loving the new headlight design
as an owner for a 2020 xsr700, this looks like a great valued mt07. I'm hopeful some of these changes make their way to the xsr line up.
FB chat suggests that the XSR700 will be discontinued from the line up sadly.
Nice, might have to chop my one year old 07 in for this. Great updates all round, love the grey version. Cheers Bob
If it gets more people on two wheels, I'm all for it. Ride your own ride.
I love the updated styling and the Y-AMT. Looking forward to seeing it on this side of the pond.
With how common quickshifters are now, if you can't handle a clutch lever for literally just first gear then I don't think motorcycling is a good idea.
@@NicholasNormileSo people like me, with a disability on my left hand, shouldn't be riding a motorbike? I ride a Honda NC750X DCT because I am unable to use a clutch. Now Yamaha have given me another choice in what I can ride.
@@NicholasNormile nah.. even if you can, you can easily be in the mood of don’t want to mess with clutch and gear shifting. Just chill on the bike while riding to work or back home.
Finally USD fork and Radial calipers. Now the package is more complete. Next please refresh the R7 too. make it a small R9 please
It’s the interesting that so many praise the MT07. I rode those at driving school but always felt them to be very small (6.1, 36 inseam) and underpowered when out on a highway. And I prefer the SV650… feels like More bike. Underpowered maybe but substantial.
So the first bike I bought was the Tracer 9GT. Nice bike but a bit bland and quality Feel (I know the quality is ok except for a bolt falling off but that was on the dealership) wasn’t as good as Triumph, so I quickly traded it for a Speed Twin 1200. And even though I’m only in my second year with the license at the tender age of 53, I can’t see myself riding anything that is supposed to be fun with less than 90hp.
I’m looking forwards to test ride the Tiger 800 Sport. Am I adventurous? Yeah, seeing I like the Tiger 900 very much I guess I am.
That Ice Storm color is too close to Suzuki's GSX-8 color. Otherwise good updates, would be a killer with 10 extra hp.
Yamaha is likely to stick with the 650-690 class. If they wanted to put out a 750, it would be another class.
Internally these colours are decided around 3 years in advance by the cmf team.
Hi Bob. FYI Australian Yamaha website has price listed at $14,899 AUD to give you a possible price in UK.
Well, it is a little better looking.
The MT07 is the best bike I have ever owned. Glad to see the updates.
I might have to move on from my '18 MT-07 to get this. Buuut I got my eyes on that MT-09 tho
Upgrade brother, you deserve it
You could spend the money on training and classes, embarrass some MT-09 riders.
Me too, me too. Liking this new IceBlue colour. I was eyeing the 2024 MT09 actually…. Nothing wrong with my MT07, just new toys :)
@@exothermal.sprocket what I did. Sold my big bike. Bought a cheap street legal supermoto and go track training with it on small track
Having ridden both, the mt07 might actually be more fun.
So glad I didn’t pull the trigger on a severely reduced price GSX8S. I’ll definitely be grabbing one to sit alongside my MT-09
8S is the better buy over the MT-07. It's more capable. The updates on the 07 are nice, probably necessary for market space, but the 8S is just more machine. It's got more power and more torque, and that usual Suzuki cohesiveness about everything it does.
@@exothermal.sprocketThey have the MT-09 already so engine power doesn’t seem to be a major consideration. The nimbleness of the MT-07 is still its very strong point even with previous generations, alongside one of, if not the best fuel economy of its class.
why have both an 07 and 09? The 09 is better in every way. Both naked, torquey bikes. Literally no point to have both, get different bikes.
This comment makes zero sense
@@BlakeLarsen3 "09 is better in every way"
Considering the price difference, that is sort of ironic.
They are completely different machine with different engines and different feels. They both are super fun.
I think this should've been an MT-07SP and still have a more simple and raw MT-07
Thank God it has the USD forks all the MT-07 owners said it never needed
Yamaha probably isn't positioning this new model at folks who already have an MT-07. If you're looking at the old model compared to its peers, it was less desirable.
Zero mt07 owners have said it doesn't need usd forks lmao stop making stuff up just to make a comment.
Many owners don't know the difference between good suspension and a hole in the ground.
@exothermal.sprocket they were always defending the rubbish suspension though it definitely bottoms out for a pastime the front forks were garbage. The engine was great though
@@chrishart8548 The right-side-up forks were structurally fine. What wasn't fine was the too-long spring spacer installed in the fork top, and the general too-low spring rate, and the too-lax compression damping. All of that had good fixes in the aftermarket but it doesn't make the OEM setup that great, or as capable as it could have been with better parts choices. I'm about 190 rider, the suspension wasn't set up for someone of my weight.
I hope the 2025 redo is much more cohesive. For a contrast, Suzuki seems to have a better knack at making basic components work really well as a system.
I can't say for sure as I don't have access to part numbers on the 2025 stuff, but Yamaha might have just used the R7 forks on this update, with spring rates suitable for the MT. We'll have to wait and see.
As long as the ride by wire doesn't change the lovely character of the CP2 engine other changes should make this a hit and possible purchase for me! Considerably lighter weight + the intake treatment should address my only two complaints with my current GSX 8S. Much better overall value than previous versions as long as the price doesn't change too much!
Finally slipper clutch on the MT07? This is a game changer!
Tracer 7 will be best seller with these upgrades especially a middle weight class bike with an automatic gearbox
Good news that one of the big four Japanese manufacturers has finally made cruise control available in their middleweight platform. I expect this will soon follow in a revised Tracer-7 and maybe the Tenere, which should shake up Honda to include it on the Transalp and 750 siblings, Suzuki on the V-Strom 800 and GSX8R/S, and perhaps Kawasaki on their 650 range (although I can see Kawaski increasing displacement for this range). Aprillia seems to have led the way with the Tuareg 660, then with Triumph launching a new Tiger 800 a couple of days ago (with cruise as standard), this all helps pile pressure on the rest to make cruise control available on more affordable bikes. With so many average speed traps around, this feature is becoming essential.
kind of love de Ice Storm color scheme
Nice-Now some XSR700 and XSR900 updates please. i can only dream of a XSR1000
The XSR900 was just updated. He has every possible thing you can put on a bike at a reasonable price point.
How about an XSR 1200 SP with a reworked Tenere 1200 engine to compete with the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS. I would buy that in a heartbeat.
@@spartanx169x For the XSR900, there’s a good chance they'll add the minor improvements from the MT09 and XSR900GP this year (such as the new version of the shifter & the new dashboard). If only to standardize the models on production lines, I can’t see them going through the hassle of continuing to produce old parts just for the XSR.
@@spartanx169x needs a tweak to bring it in line with the MT09. The TFT is tiny too
@@FL0Kl Good point. We will see.
Tech is much much welcome.
I loved my MT07. I had the 2019 version, it was so much fun!!
I really don’t get the direction manufacturers are going with headlights, I am not a fan.
I had my heart set on an MT09 after my 07, and on paper it ticked all my boxes but I just couldn’t come to buying one as I am not a fan of the 25 design.
Went a different route and Bought a zx6r and absolutely adore it.
Would deffo buy an MT again if the design improves!!
Much better looking. Next is the mt10. Keep the ball rolling Yamaha.
Love the mt07, although I own a tracer 700 so I've had to buy pass this one, but all come back to fancying one 😮.. too many good bikes out there x
I think these changes are great. It should make the bike more appealing, the AMT is a great feature that will like previous/current owners to seriously think about an upgrade.
Dat upgrade
I think the suspension upgrade is good, design is better, but I think simple bike is better. Cable trotle, cable clutch... 700ccm bike don't need lots of electronic things. I'm not a fan of the automatic bikes. I never owned a scooter, just manual moto bike. This is my personal opinion
Speakers for the exhaust--fucking insane.
looks great ...we all know the engines great 👍 it's a MT so super fun bike
Great content! It's always a pleasure to watch your videos - they are so high quality and interesting.🐽🍿💕

Would be happy if they put traction control
About time. I definitely am gonna look into this
I think the new bike needed a bit more horse power to put it up in the high 80s - I’m a bit surprised Yamaha didn’t touch the power.
Your videos are always so heartfelt and profound! Thank you for your creativity and ability to touch the deepest strings of my soul!👢💓🦜

i prefer the feel of a cable throttle
I will wait to see if the T7 v Tiger 660 equation changes.
This update should've come out years ago when the CB650R and Trident 660 came out. Now it's better handling but still underpowered compared to pretty much everything else.
Looks great, so very good upgrades on the tech. Looks a little under powered now though compared to some rivals.
Took them 3 generations of this bike to fix the suspension what a joke, but still the bike looks awesome and good to see all the big upgrades
Is the xsr900 going to get upgraded, like gen 3 quick shifter and better tft screen???
Wonder if the xsr is getting these upgrades?
When I was first looking into bikes last year it was very confusing and I was going with the MT07…. then next year I am looking to replace it with something else as I dont like the riding position that much and the suspension is very soft… now seeing this Im a bit sad I was a year too early getting my first bike.
Only a matter of time before the T7 gets the Y-AMT.
Tenere 700 with AMT and CC will be nice.
All the dreamers online thinking it was going to be a new MT10! Second gen isn't that old yet so was never going to happen
Wel the t7 wil get this update to. Goodluck other brands
Interesting. That said, I can get a brand new Tuono 660 at my local dealer for 8000€ (which is ~6650 pounds), so not sure if I'd pay more for the Yamaha. Probably not
Shame its not offered in Midnight Cyan anymore
5:30, dude, this is MT09
Well spotted !
Because he is talking about mt 09
@@kingslear676 Oh yes, sorry, jumped the gun a bit there. Just excited about seeing the new mt 07, it could well be my next bike.
Do we know what the price is going to be? If they up the price a lot it might be a deal breaker..
Tenere next then?
Trident 660 this year Will sell a lot..mt-07 finally got some news updates but a Higher price maybe..
I storm, pick of the litter!
Why can't motorcycle companies design an electronic shifter that is controlled by left foot? Shifting by fingers feels like playing PlayStation.
No slipper clutch??
That bezel should be a war crime....
This for a potential price of 8k or for an extra 1k a 1000cc, 150hp 4 cylinder Honda Hornet!
few days ago I sold my old 2015 MT07 and I will never take anything form yamaha
What's wrong with yamaha?
New Tenere when?
Should have been upgraded to 789 cc and 15 bhp more !!.
It`s an ok bike, but cb650r does a better job here in my opinion.
To be honest in my humble opinion..that headlights of mt 09 is the ugliest Headlight of nakedbike had seen ....
Even kawasaki z800 headlight look better than that .. although its 2012 model years
The bodyframe look solid though...
Headlight looks horrible imo🤢
Who the f is designing these modern bikes 😂😂
One of the best things about the MT-07 was the direct feel of the cable throttle and now that’s gone. Plus it’s ugly. The 2018 model remains the best.
Still hate the looks, but at least it's finally getting a long-overdue suspension upgrade
Good job, Yamaha. I say that hesitantly until I see the "price creep".
It was about time for the suspension and brakes to get "modern." The rest of the tech? Meh. Quickshifter is nice. Couldn't care less about engine modes. I know the "sport" mode will be more aggressive throttle response than the cable has been previously, which is like a quick-turn cable throttle effect.
If Yamaha didn't do this on the MT-07, the GSX-8S would be stealing sales.
I REALLY wish Kawasaki would get in the game and make it..... SOMETHING competitive.
I has the old version and sold it because of the soft suspension and crap handling.
Na to much tec on the new mt07 also i don't like the headlight that much. The only thing i do like is the inverted forks that's a good thing. I will take my second gen over this new one.
Please don't talk about Euro5 as if it's a feature !!!
I’m only interested in what Honda have new for 2025
Sweeeet!
Like most of the upgrades... don't care for the auto gearbox and riding modes are overkill for a 70hp bike, but I understand they might appeal to a less experienced clientele. Too bad Yamaha can't make it look pretty, too, because the MT07 is all the bike most would ever need.
The Fazer 800 was better
Like the MT range but the colours are a bit boring and I’d much rather save 4.5kg and £3-500 (?) than have the tech. That exhaust also too ugly to look at 🤬
Colors look good to me, exhaust too. You can always get an aftermarket exhaust.
People just looking for something to make them angry.
Go get some ice cream. Chill out.
Keep AMT bikes at least 200Km away, even from my grave. *RESIST.*
They should move away from the insect design...the Ktm uglines is enough 😅
Front looks terrible...
The MT-Series would be great if they weren´t so damn ugly, i hate that stupid design language so much!
You hate, I love ;)
@@siurdna An Aprilia Tuono the a Yamaha MT-09 CP3 engine would probably be my dream bike, the Triumph 765RS engine is also worth thinking about but is less usable for the street than the CP3.
All that for a reasonable price of course.
And for stuff that doesn´t exist a smaller V4 Tuono with around 140 hp for an in between price would be the dream.
That screen is just ugly in my opinion
Lowest horsepower in class STILL......FAIL.
Aren't you forgetting the Z650 is 10 hp less than this MT-07?
And if you want a lot more power..... GO GET IT. Don't ask for 900cc power from a 690. Don't be cussin' the MT-03 because it can't compete with an MT-07. There's bikes for the stuff you want.
The Trident, Tiger 660, CBR650R, CB650R and the GSX8R and S make more power as well as the 660 Aprilias.
@@zrx4me1 Z650 makes the least. And it has for years.
Go buy something with more power.
GSX-8S is another class. It's 87cc bigger.
A 650 four-cylinder is always going to be horsepower biased over a similar displacement twin. If you want that kind of powerband without any of the torque punch, buy one. A triple is similar.
The RS660 cost a lot more. A LOT more.
Huge update for this model. The ugliest bike in this segment now is the GSX-8S, a face only mother could love 😂
disagree it the GSX8s looks like the Sachs Beast
I'm so tired of them adding all of the tech stuff to so many bikes. Indian has at least been smart enough to offer 3 options (number one being NO TECH. More tech does not produce more skilled riders. It handicaps them from becoming more skilled; and now you have opened the door for so many more possible computer glitches that can get you killed when they were supposedly suppose to be put on there to protect you. But hey, I've only been riding for over 40 years and 9 motorcycles; so what do I know. Great review though Sir.
one of the uglyist bikes ever seen ,come on yamaha go back 50 years yamaha tt500 the last looking good yamaha, honda ,also ugly,my rides mv agusta brutale, t100 modded
