Seeing a buddha statue, making offering, prostrate and making a buddha images plant a seeds in us for our futures. Great benefits inviting a Buddha statue at home! The Buddha statues representing a fully enlightened being and by prostrating to the image is the same as prostrating to Buddha himself. Wonderful teaching!
thanks Tsem Rinpoche for the sharing! Just like Tsem Rinpoche said “we come this world to give, not to take” This remind me of one story. There is a God that give option to two person what they would like to rebirth as, Option 1 is to be born as a person who “Giving to others” all their life or Option 2 is to born as a person who “Take from others” all their life. Very fast one of them choose to take Option 2 (Taker), the others one choose to take Option 1 (Giver). Lastly, the Taker reborn as a Beggars & The Giver reborn as a very wealthy person. Wish Tsem Rinpoche Long life & thanks Rinpoche for your guidance
I just had this thought of the Buddha's enlightenment. This is just a thought I would like to share and write down to look at later; I wish no conflict. The concept of three eons of virtuous action sort of distanced buddha from myself, in my mind. When I heard this, I felt less familiarity with the Buddha. It put Buddha Shakyamuni on a throne which I could not myself presently reach, which I think was detrimental to my own understanding; because I myself obviously am not a virtuous being who has spent the past three eons of my mind stream doing spiritual cultivation. But I just considered if the idea of 'three eons' does not signify literal eons, but is a representation of three eons, manifest in practice (perhaps he spent what seemed like three eons in empty contemplation; after all, is emptiness not beyond any and all mundane comprehension?). I know that it is written in the Holy Bible that Yeshua Christ spent three days on the cross, before rising and unifying with YHWH-- the Source. And in the Eddas it is written of Odin, "I hung on the ash tree-- all nine nights. with spear was I wounded". --- something like that. Nine can be divisible by three into three. I know that the story of Christ and Odin are parallel in metaphysical symbolism, representing our own selves, and potentiality for enlightenment. And Buddha Shakyamuni is said to have practiced perfectly for three full eons, incomprehensible to our mundane minds. This correlation between the numbers and the beings represented in each context leads me to think that the Buddha's three full eons of practice were, on a mundane level, within one lifetime, and (somehow) on a spiritual level, worth three eons. This is my thought. If this interests anyone, or if you wish clarification-- anyone reading-- respond. It would be cool to have some dialogue on this...
