Pajero is definitely pronounced with a hard j, not silent like it’s Spanish. Look up any old Japanese commercials for the Pajero and you will see the jdm pronunciation.
in Australia they are very common. PAJERO is definitely pronounced with the J ..... it is not silent
I was gonna say, this! Pronounced with hard J, the nameplate origin was never Spanish.
@@dudeisnotcoolio and in the Spanish speaking markets it was called montero... Pajero in Spanish means someone who masterbates lollll
Had these in the Philippines, we pronounced these with a hard J too.
where do we draw the line for the name? they named this car from a cat variety, Leopardus Pajeros, which is found in South America (Spanish speaking countries). we pronounce it "pa-he-ro", in DR we got the Montero name as that name didn't pass over there as it means something completely different.
Most of the info conveyed on the Pajero is inaccurate. The car wasn't raced with an automatic, although this is a common myth. This livery is not old or historically accurate. It was never offered by anyone in the past. Marlboro never associated with SBM or Mitsubishi on this project. Mitsubishi never competed against LandRover with this truck. It competed against Citroen and the Schlesser Buggies. This engine is proprietary to the Paj Evo. No other 6g74 have Mivec. The car debuted in 1997, not 1998. It first raced Dakar in 1998 in T2 then with some classification changes it raced T1. The rules were always in flux. Anyhoo it's not too hard to research this stuff if you're really a fan of it.
Was thinking he sounded like he was full of shit.
@@jeffboddicker310 it's really hard to do a live interview and pull facts out left and right but it's also ok to say "I don't remember" I feel like a jerk commenting but these videos get so many views someone should at least try to get the facts right
Yup, I used to work at Mitsubishi when these came out, the engine in this is unique, it was only ever used in this model.
@@jeffboddicker310 that's cuz he is! Also it hurt my ear everytime he said Pa"H"ero! Like seriously dude!
I can justify most of what he stated as he was misinformed, or incorrect. But it was a blatant lie when he said he acquired that new old stock livery, or I guess it's possible he bought something from someone who sold him a lie.... and yea, the whole "pa-h-ero" comment was kinda snobby. I wonder what he does for a living because this is NOT a cheap setup.
Larry don't worry, you were pronouncing it right the first time. Even Mitsubishi themselves uses a hard J. That's all that matters lol
Dad was a Mitsubishi master Tech who joined mitsu in the early 80's right before i was born and I've drooled over both of these monsters for most of my life . I used to tow my built Eclipse Gsx with my Montero SR and it was as close to that combo as I could get. Man, Mitsubishi absolutely owned the Dakar rally for so many years.
In U.K. and Europe we def called them paJeros …no one JDM calls them paHero 😂😂😂
yeah when i was in the philippines no one ever called it pahero...even the ads from mitsubishi.
I never get bored at staring on that 6.5 EVO TM Edition. That Pajero EVO looks dope! I remember back when I'm still kindergarten, my neighbor had a '91 4 door Pajero, it was 2 toned; dark blue and silver on bottom half, pretty good condition too, but as decade passed by, they sold it to someone else. Kind of suck that they didn't keep the Pajero.
........We have had Pajero's in Australia forever, no one has ever pronounced it like that.
“Why do you have to flex so hard on everybody?” lol
Not knowing how to pronounce it’s name takes him down one notch, not knowing the history, another;(
That PaHero would look great with my Suzuki Himny.
Beautiful cinematography as always Larry!
Man, what a dream combo. I'd be over the moon if I had any one of them. Seeing them together... whew.
Thanks for featuring this Larry!
Pajeros were sold in Australia always and they were advertised and called Pajero, pronounced like the spelling here.
Awesome combination 😍😍 EVO and Pa "J" ero.
Im so jealous, glad hes sharing and using it!!!
That Pajero is 🔥
Wow! What a tow rig! Love the JDM collection 😍💪🇯🇵
I had a manual one in tommie mkn red tuff az jeep thrashed it for years nothing ever broke
The stories you find is truly awesome brother. 👌 great video man
I'm not a Japanese or Spanish expert but pretty sure the J is a J in Japanese not an H like in Spanish. Still a cool ride.
The owner is definitely pronouncing it incorrectly. He’s pronouncing it the Mexican way.. but as someone who lives in Japan, he’s wrong. My uncle also owns one.. they’re cool.
Loved seeing that at Lime Rock, can't wait to see what Colton brings next year!
90s in my country was full of pajero, I even used to grow up with it, but a two doors sure are rare even in my country, even if you find one the price is gonna cost way more than you ever think
insanity...much props to this guy 👏👏👏
Absolutely Epic!
That dude got almost every 90's -2000's JDM legendary cars.
Makes me wish I had a car collection to invite all my favorite people an drivers too! Reason so they could each get a chance to rip around hopefully a track an do things they always wanted too in them. Regardless if they messed them up or etc. It help build the story behind them an actual make them worth more to me. An if damaged help those in the field earn some money . I would also want my collection to be available for make a wish type charities. Love what y'all do man 💯♥️
Here in the Philippines we have 4dr Versions. But we pronounce them as Pajero not Pahero 😂
May mga ganyan din dito saatin na nakarating.. medyo tagilid yung ibang info nya hahaha gaya ng "pahero" nya 😅
My Dream Car! EVO 6.5 TME
Success in both WRC and Dakar 🔥 ‘Bishi is goated ♦️❤️
Damn! Now that's a two car solution!
Man, I want that Pajero bad. Best I'll probably ever get is the 4 door Montero, which is still a great looking vehicle. It's just a maintenance nightmare. Finding parts is a chore. Some parts just flat out aren't available in the states. I think the Montero begs for a engine swap.
Look for a dodge raider, it’s a 2door gen 1 montero. You can import a 2 door, gen 2, left hand drive from South America no problem. Parts are readily available if you look in the markets that have a lot of them. I can get any part oem for monteros.
@@Jimmyhickey90 I'm aware. I want a Gen 1 raider too. I'm just talking gen 3 here.
@@amorton94 the gen 3 is the best one for practicality. I def want to pick up a gen 3 swb too 🤘
Realize I'm seeing this a year late, but it regardless made my day.
The EVO was my daily in Gran Turismo back when PS2 launched
What an awesome combo & such a humble and amazing guy. I cant wait till you visit his garage & do some stuff together as this was mint
That rx7 and E36 😍😍😍
Lol he's tripping in Aus we pronounced it like Larry and the rest and these were also ADM
Yeah! That's pretty BadAzzRig! And a perfect Combo 😍
Where I live we also say Pajero the way Larry say it. Hmm...
The J is not silent.
Colton is a wonderful curator to the best parts of JDM and drift culture, his car collection is amazing and the amazing lost history he's brought back to life through his finds and restorations deserves a huge tip-of-the-hat from us all.
Thank you sir.
Dude! Didn't mention the mivec heads on the pajero. Which is the 1 thing that helped these make power.
Even though its a 6g engine not 1 other model used that engine spec.
During the intro I was saying to myself - this is just flexing TOO hard. Then Larrys first words validate my thoughts immediately. I mean track tires, skis, snow board... really?
Amazing combination
Dude is hurting my soul everytime he says "PAHERO"
Love the car.. 🤩🤩🤩🤩
The doggo inspired plate touched my heart ❤️ As s dad of two rescues that one damn near made me tear up
Big Up JDM Supreme very cool dude 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾
Lol this man doesn’t even know how to pronounce his own vehicle. But regardless I’m jelly, Pajero evos are sick. Definitely a dream car
so cool
Lovely man keep the culture alive, the whole thing is a reverse psychology setup of don’t break neck!!😂
worked with MITSUBISHI before RALLI-ART Dept. watching that Evo had me in tears. loved the evo series.
Nice 👍
This is an ideal "2 cars garage" combo
I love how short wheelbase the car is... That's why you can't get it stuck.
As a self hating smoker, I fucks with this. 😂 Love the combo....as if the FD/Vic wasn't sick enough. This man has drip. Much respect.
God bless you Larry for giving us such great free content.
Everything the car the trailer for truck what’s the deliveries? Oh my Lord it is nice. Cannot say it enough.
Team Mitsubishi Pajero 😎 👌🏿
LEGEND 🚙🚗
I want a Pajero Evo now 🤤😍
Sir Lancer-Lot🤙🏼
Dream 1 carrying dream 2
Every time I see these old Mitsubishis, I'm like, "Damn, homie! In high school you was tha man, homie! WTF happened to you?!?!?!"
So the dealer in the UK sold him a car, was honest and told him it was painted with lower mileage and charged him less for that car than the worse condition albeit original paint, higher mileage car. Yeah mate you got suckered big time...👌
Is there yelow RX7 there?? Ooh im sorry i was so focused by those Mitsubishis Treasure
Same here id run to a spot in my local malls called SUNCOAST, for Best Motoring and Tekademic Mischief dvd (the og's of hoonin and car vlogs) Larry you should get up with Dustin and his crew from Tekademics
Well also, autos are preferred for hill climb and sand. Dakar has a lot of both lol.
Totally incorrect about the gearbox. All Dakar evos were manual.
@willmccarthy1154 I said Dakar has a lot of both hills and sand lol. And in general auto transmissions work better for hill climb and for sand, and especially for both. Doesn't mean s race car has to be an auto lol.
japanese people call it “PADJERO”
Them calling it "pahero" stresses me out
The raptors/TRX of its day
Bagus nian mobel itu, ape lagi ygevo itu.
Mad props for Google for doing that.
The wrong wheels are on it, the genuine Pajero Evo wheels look much better.
These wheels are from later model Pajero.
What a flex
"I believe it's jogging or yogging. it might be a soft J. I'm not sure but apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild."
anyone know what wheels are on the TME?
Mitsubishi TME Enkei Wheels 17 x 7.5 +38 .
shouldn't it be Pa Jeh Row, pronouced in the non spanish way since apparently it is not a so nice word in spain
in south east asia, we called them Pa Jay Ro
In my place is called Montero, like in weed, like this guy
The sad part is, it's a 1999. So its not federally legal. Can never be registered or titled.
Is this evo legal in USA to import now ?
Yeah certain years if they are 25 years or older they can be imported !
4:20 I have never seen an auto pajero evo competing in dakar. So i dont believe his excuse. But maybe. .....
If they yellow FD isn't a friend or feature he seems to Wana shine brighter than that 🍌 paint
So much wrong information on this. No the Dakar cars were not autos. No they weren’t made in 2000, production started in 97. No they’re not a “pahero” Please do your research before repeating regurgitated garbage about these cars. Sincerely every Pajero Evolution owner.
There is one thing it was competing against and that was the Nissan Patrol
There was about 800 JDM delivered tme not 200. That’s excluding everywhere else that got them.
I do think it's funny how much people praise the 6.5 when really it's very minor changes. It's just collectors saying it's worh that much when it's not. 35k I'd say is a great price but anything more is just dumb
i have a friend who owns 3 evos and 3 pajeros 2 white pajeros and 2 white evos with one red pajero and 1 red evo
Its pajero not pahero. We can forgive the guy because he owns those vehicles
Dude is Pa JE ro not Pa He ro.
Saw the damn thing be launched in Japan.
"PAHERO" 😞
Brap...brap...brap...brap....brap...brap....
Paj-ehr-o - E-vo
PajEvo for short...
Poor that the owner does'nt even know how to pronounce the word and should NOT allow to own this special Evo.
Subi guy says double the breakdowns with a chuckle, and then blows a head gasket immediately from p.s.i….Pure Shitty Irony
It can compete with a Toyota Prado Rz
American trying to tell people how to say pajero , a car they literally dont have
Yeah don't call it Pajero in the US, the reason why was sold as Montero is because Pajero in spanish means "wanker"...😁 in Europe was sold as Pajero everywhere except Spain and maybe Portugal
its PA GER ROW
Haha; Pahero?! He is literally the only person in the world who has ever pronounced a Pajero that way.
🤤🤤🤤
