Between the off-camera goosing, the teasing between you two, the local highlights (restaurant and streets of Carcasonne), and the masterful demonstration of the Terysa Vanderloo French Canal Workout, this is one of my favorite episodes so far. Thanks for wearing that camera, T!
That off-camera goosing you mention...that must be a patron only thing. :P P.S. I love the fact that I don't think about the actress when I hear your username. My first thought is always "Oh, the Ruby Rose patron!!"
@@flomads9037 I have met a few geese in my life. It may be a regional term, but "goose" in this instance indicates a playful pinch in the .... we'll say "derriere" since they were in France.
I would just like to say that you two are fantastic. I don't sail, have a boat or even live near water. Having said that I feel a part of your amazing journey across seas, oceans, rivers and canals. Also following your life on a sail boat is so much fun, your channel is one of the best. Thank you for doing what you do. Chris
Nick, mate.....when you find a woman that laughs at your jokes, that tolerates a dull banging, takes over when you droop, trots alongside like a hepped up towpony, heaves a line, handles a boathook, keeps your nose off the wall, and keeps a camera running all the while, you have to sit back and congratulate yourself with a glass of something sort of vinerological and contemplate your extreme good fortune at having found a keeper. I really love your channel, and raise a glass here near Cape Town in congratulation of you both. Ain't life grand?!
Nick..it’s said if you lay down with an Aussie lady..eventually you’ll start thinking & acting like one? Having watched all your vids..this is one of your finest!.. The countryside is just stunning. Thank you both..good health. Aussie Mick
This was magical. I can not pinpoint why, but I think I just love that you two get along so well with each other and always seem happy (although I really miss a good Nick rant with all the cuss words) I liked the history lesson very much and also so glad the people spoke and saved that beautiful city. I am surprised there are not people helping on the sides of the canals for an exchange of money. Must not be allowed? Anyway, this was so sweet and my day so stressful I am pouring a toddy and watching it again :)
Hello. We are long time followers of your channel and really in joy it. We are American and are visiting my wife’s family in France. We are on the southwest coast and heard y’all were in La Rochelle. We plan to be there this Friday and wanted to try to meet y’all if still there. We live aboard our 1961 Hinckley B 40 on Hilton Head SC and start full time cruising after Christmas. Hope you are still in the area. Joe And Pat.
Terysa: Don't mind me, I'm just walking my boat in a French Canal. Great episode. Really enjoying the French canals series. Nick, you deserve a Busch beer for that boat handling.
Was this vlog about the castle and it's food or how much Tereysa nd Nick giggled with each other. I think this trip has set you two up for the rest of your lives. :) peace
Brilliant banter between you guys in this one. Had me laughing out loud several times :) You are bossing those locks in this video. That cassoulet took me back to my teenage summers back in the 70s when I used to spend the summer holidays with a French family. The mother made the most delicious cassoulet specially for me as it was one of my favourite French dishes :)
Ahhh Carcassonne, one of my favorite cities. It's always nice to see. I was just at that lock during the summer, taking pictures of boats. Beautiful scenery!
I find it interesting in the deference in the locks between V boats and the flat bottomed narrow boats. Narrow boats don't care about hitting the sides, but fear incoming water. You guys tie off, then they just pour the water in in a continuous wave.
Love seeing the progression from the chaos at the first locks to making it look easy now. Looks like you've nailed down a good system. Thanks for sharing!
The last tie up T shouted " any reason I jumped off here" I would have shouted back "yes to keep your feet dry" Great sense of humour and interaction you both have.
Wow! Wonderful camera footage and beautiful scenery! I’m envious. The both of you are living the dream, from my point of view. I know that it’s also a lot of sweat and toil, as you two have shown, but much preferred over punching a time-clock as I must do. After Nick rammed the boat into the canal bank (joking!), I was a bit amazed that Terysa was able to seemingly (with ease) push away Ruby Rose from the bank. Terysa, you must have Amazon strength or that boat is lighter than it looks. Another awesome video, guys! Thanks!!
That was a fun episode, Oh, and in the 13th Century...You two are very fun to watch together....and in the 13th Century... OH LOOK A STREET that we have seen twice, but in the 13th century... LOL You two are great! Do you ever miss the Tropics?
You two are having to much fun, at least Nick anyway. I still think you are crazy doing this but I'm glad you have. It's rather amazing what you have to do to accomplish this adventure. How many other blue water sail boats have you ran across so far, HMMMM? And how has the Lock Keepers reacted to your boat in the canal? I bet there has been some good conversations.
My wife and I just bought a 27 ft sailboat and took it 60 miles down rivers and canals through several locks. Can't imagine taking a boat the size of yours, it was stressful!
Love the stories of the areas you explore. Did you need special permits to go on the canal and do you pay any docking fees? How long was your research prior, making sure your boat would fit? Also, are you going the same way back?
Also, at the end of your journey can you give recommendations on if you had to do it over this is what you would have done.... use your own boat, rent a boat or bought a boat just for that trip to stay longer & etc. Thank you so much.
That was a fun vid between OMG nik s about to moon to designer stubble & perving bums seems to be Nick s pastime and we got the history lessons, would like to see exchange of places just for referance & Nick doing the running up and about the banks just to see if he can do as well as your better half < I have my doubts > Think the french s made a realy low bridge then a semi round lock just to test you but you pulled it off guys with good humour. The whole canal route is testing for a plastic boat but it seems your mingling with the local LOCO hire boats and doing ok, sound quality 100% content 100% Good job guys !
Very nice video!! Reminds me of our summer trip on the Canal. Me and my wife rented a boat through Locaboat, and did the cruise from Négra down to Carcassonne and back. was a lovely trip. Was a Shit load of lock chambers to fight tho :-) How was the renters behaving on the channels when you was there? Its funny that you might never been on a boat and you can rent a 15m boat and go. Must say it was one of the best commedy shows i seen :-)
Great stuff, I love the repartee between the two of you. 'Oh, you mean the lines that you beat into my head when I was trying to sleep?' LOL I really did enjoy Terysa's video of the one lock filling up, that was cool to watch. Are you going to get a cat to take with you the next time you're back on Ruby Rose? I saw the one at Nick's parents house, and he's a real love muffin, obviously. Yeah, the cat seemed to enjoy it, too. :D :p Seriously, you guys need to have a cat on the boat, and two when you get a Catamaran. Would love to see you at a boat show, but none here in Seattle that you would be interested in. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be content with watching the two of you here on TH-cam.
Have a question. The bean stew you ate was the beans like you would eat for breakfast “Heinz”. It looked like it had a tomato based? Just wondering 😂 New Orleans people are always curious 😁
A person who has just come into contact with sailing from the keyboard is very surprised to see the blue ocean sailing across the inland river, and can't wait to experience it himself! I have been watching your catamaran reviews, and I would like to know the specific restrictions on the length, width and depth of this French river. Is the catamaran too wide? poor English to listen to what U talking about, so sorry
