Hey Tanner, I really like your new 'style' were you don't sound so hostile all the time, you have always had amazing game knowledge, I just couldn't stand listening to you for too long before though, no offense. Keep it up man.
It really depends. Often the game devs/engineers who build these systems and balanced them know the game in and out (they have to essentially they are responsible for these systems and interactions after all), but don't get a say in the priority of what gets patched or what is said to the community. Often in software you get people at the top making decisions and priorities that don't know the product at all (aren't gamers or plugged into the culture or community). Good managers don't need to know all that, they defer and trust their senior engineers. Path of Exile is a good example of devs who understand and play their own games, and interact with the community constantly. Often their devs are at the top of the leaderboards each season. Its the worst feeling knowing something needs to be fixed or patched but never getting it prioritized or any attention. Most developers are introverts and won't stick their neck out to advocate for something. Just my 2 cents as someone in software who has to deal with this BS everyday.
@@thepunisherxxx6804 that's fair, there are def some games but I forget that the games I play aren't the same as the rest of the industry. I love to role play in darktide. My Kriegsman, with the basic shovel and slug shotgun, is a favorite. Even though it's as far of the meta as you can go. But i enjoy it way too much.
This is the type of content I absolutely enjoy. You take non-meta things you like and optimize the shit out of them. I still cherish my memories of solo bullying cata patrol in VT1 with Ceremonial Dagger.

I think I watched that build video and the most surprising thing about it was how critical the author was towards Darktide. He was throwing shade at it every few sentences lmao
been having heaps of fun and success with a grenadier veteran build (shredders +grenade tinkerer+Lethal Proximity blessing for +50% radius) + Focus Target and out for blood , it doesn't need to be equipped in your current hand to benefit from the aura blessing , anything left still alive cops a rashad to the face (bromentum headtaker my preffered melee atm) which is usually just elites, i also found this set up for whatever reason fixes the shredder bleed radius i saw in a previous video, it fully covers the damage aoe now, (go into psykanium drop a grenade in the middle anything hit by the intial damage bleeds) and its quite the massive noticeable aoe difference when you have both Grenader tinkerer + Lethal proximity active and without even just one, wouldn't mind you min maxing a veteran grenadier build
Hey Tanner, could we see an updated Columnus IAG/recon lasgun build for vet? Using the autos is probably my favorite way to play vet. I liked your marksman’s focus video involving the recon, but I’m curious if you find either of the other keystones to be generally stronger.
Upfront apologies for lore tism, but since fatshark themselves also to a degree failed: Power Weapon is/was actually quite rare compared to CCW/knife or axe in darktide sense, or even heavy sword as is the case with 2 of the rare named female comissars, in 40k at least tabletop and lore side with very few exceptions but most being recent (8th edition and now 10th). Bolt Pistol or Bolter/(and the mini version of the) Stormbolter were always the main weapon choice/you wouldnt want them near melee unless doing Power Fist memes, or its a Lord Comissar (fancier with red hat) or krieger (and a few regiments no longer supported) where a PSword+Plasma would end up the default (and even then often cashing in for a maul instead of sword). P.S.a few times frag nade was indeed the default wargear nade (but generally twas both frag and krak till nades became strats and sheet abilities).
I’m one of the “I played SM2 after HD, heard about Darktide now I’m hooked”players. It’s obvious Tanner has the most knowledge on this game, are most of your builds up to date post L&L update? Great content, thank you.
Tanner, what weapons would you recommend that aren't plasma gun? I tried revolver/shotgun in the wep specialist build but they don't feel half as good and I'm tired of the plasma gun
Bit of an issue in the fact that there isn’t really anything half as good as a plasma gun as far as I know, he said recently the torrent recon lasgun is pretty good and obviously the Columbus->vraks iag is absurd but idk if you’ve already played those and I don’t remember the build for the recon lasgun
@@spectre0969 I see. Do you have the columbus/vraks build? Yeah I figured nothing would be as good as the plasma gun, but at least I'm looking for some variance. Revolver/shotty were def not it. The duelist blade still feels good to me but plasma gun I've used too much.
If u can tolerate the slower clunky movement of the bolter it can be insanely strong at bossing and anti horde. The fire rate buff from weapon specialist and pinning fire I think gives some of the highest dps in the game and imo it’s just fun to go brrrrrr into a big crowd. Kinda useless against crushers though

He says its “the most common commissar weapon”. So you’re lying there. Not taking 30% weakpoint dmg, 15% elite damage and 25% ammo reserve its itself makes it bad. Then add taking desperado without taking reciprocity (where are you getting all your melee crits). Also taking exploit weakness over recopricity (where are you getting your melee crits). Taking Rending strikes over bring it down is just dumb. There are so many more issues that just make it “bad”.

The Unsanctioned Commissar
Unsanctioned build, take this down or I tell plebbit
I think a Dueling Sword and a Las Pistol would be a fun Commissar weapon pairing that is both functional and lore accurate.
Power Sword, Chainsword, Dueling Sword, Bolt Pistol, Boltgun, Plasma Pistol, Plasma Gun and maybe more are all Lore Accurate
