Q: What server am I playing Arma games on, who are these people, and can you join?
A: It's the private server for my community, Shack Tactical. As of 2014 we've been around for eight years, and I wouldn't trade it for anything - we have a fantastic memberbase and it makes for amazing gameplay in Arma and elsewhere. You can read more about us here: www.shacktac.com

Q: Does ShackTac play mostly coop or mostly PvP/adversarial in Arma?
A: We do a mix of about 70% adversarial and 30% coop - both offer unique experiences and are a blast to play.
Q: How long have you been playing the Arma series?
A: I've been here from the start, with my Operation Flashpoint experience beginning with the demo's release in 2001. I went into the US Marine Corps shortly after (no relation!) and in 2004 I started playing OFP in multiplayer. 2006 saw me found ShackTac, which started in OFP and then transitioned through Arma 1, Arma 2, and finally, Arma 3. I hope to continue this for a long time into the future, as well as share the ride with viewers like you, as corny as that sounds!

I really love the annotations in the bottom right that explain what you're doing after an edit. Very nice touch and very helpful to the viewer.

Love these vids as well. I love the brief overview at the beginning and the editing. Keep 'em coming! Quick questions: who were you playing against? Other shack tactical members? Do you usually play these missions in house? How does one get involved in these?
These videos are great, I love watching them. Yesterday I lost myself while watching CHkilroys videos, before I knew it 3 hours had passed. I've been watching these videos for quiet sometime but I only just recently committed myself to joining Shack Tac. I applied a week ago and the only thing that kills me is that I didn't do it sooner. The recent update on the website tells me I've got a lot more waiting to do. Carry on Shack Tac, I will hopefully get there eventually.

I love this style of gameplay {with the IEDs and hidden weapons} are you guys planning on doing any more of these soon?
That was particularly good and all your videos are superb. Very interesting viewpoint from OPFOR. I thought I saw you varying your movement...some walking, then some running, then walking again, get in car, get out. I assume that would make it hard for BLUEFOR to tell it was a human in control of that afghan entity as opposed to AI. Also, one could feel the tenseness of situation when that helicopter fired at you with mini-gun. I thought you had bought it then. Again, beautiful video!
The simple thing is to send out warning rounds to either dissuade or disable the vehicle because you are in a hyper state of mind. It is fun doing this in ARMA.

Ah thanks, Marg Bar Amrika is like my favorite CHKilroy video. This one is becoming my favorite Dslyecxi video very quickly.
In addition, if some to gunner saw a friendly barrel poking out a window he would double-take before he opened up, giving you that extra second. In a mission like this where the objective is to cause as much havoc as possible, enemy weps would only be a good thing.
This was one the most intense ArmA experiences I've ever had, and I was only watching!
If I remember right, all the players on OPFOR are technically civilians until they decide to fire a weapon/blow something up. During that time when they had Dslyecxi on the ground, the one Marine was testing him with a kit that lets them know if he has done anything. Right as Dslyecxi runs, the guy yells "that dude blew up something!"
But the rabbit got away :p
As Blufor commander, the first three minutes of this make me want to cry. I very VERY much should have had an armed tail vehicle, it DID cost us dearly. Alpha and Bravo Squad leads were in that five ton truck (another horrible mistake on my part to allow that) so its destruction pretty much sealed our fate.

I wish i would get accepted by you guys, I love missions that are this exhilarating for both sides. Freakin' terrifying.
I was expecting an ending worthy of a hearty laughter, much like your videos have gotten me used to, but the professionalism and cold blood with which you dealt with the last group of Marines have left me a bit uneasy.
I never understood the true meaning of Arma till I came across Dslyecxi.

Yeah, a friend recommended them. I think they will be the next group I give a shot with.
Lower portions of those waist high walls can simply be walked over as if its just a slight bump in the terrain. Dslycxi has enough experience in the arma engine to recognize these points on the fly and correct his path to take advantage of them so he isn't slowed.
I'm going to get this game now, FPSs like CoD and BF haven't destroyed my mind yet!

I was not aware of the render issue, although I did know about his personal no-scopes policy. I just thought that a mission like this might warrant an exception to such rules. Thanks for answering, but I was more interested in his personal reasons for this specific mission, though I expect you are probably correct anyway.

That was cold at the end putting a round in their corpses.
Continuously under attack by IED and small arms fire from within the village, and a blue car continues to approach the convoy multiple times. I would authorize engaging that blue vehicle next time it is seen.

Hey Dslyecxi Ive been trying to use the ace mod set and Shacktac mods to learn what Shacktac uses in hops of one day joining your ranks. I was wondering when you had your IED's set how did you use just a clacker and not a cell phone?

How is your teamspeak server setup? different channels for bluefor and opfor? I'm a bit curious how ACRE can differ between your radio and the radio of the bluefor troops? or is it all handled with the frequencies?

I wonder, if you picked up the BluFor weapons (like the SAW's and M16's) and took them, would insurgents be able to acquire ammunition on the black market?

warning shots to approaching vehicles, its done at checkpoints and the like if he had kept driving right at them they would have either killed the car by shooting through the engine or have shot through the windshield.

Hey, Dslyecxi, are you planning to switch to arma 3 when it comes out or you will stay with Arma 2 for a while?
I know that in most cases it was kind of obvious where you skipped, since usually it went from complete silence to something like a helicopter above you, but in the future could you maybe mark the points at which you timeskip?
