Hey Tony, my client is using your design to build his own roof span and brought up the possibility of these being picked up in a heavy wind storm. We have a lot of containers all over the country and I've never seen one move an inch in a storm but you bring up a good point. We decided to install dovetail twistlocks into the concrete forms located at the base of each corner casting just to be safe.
It might be easier to install them after the concrete is poured and the containers set, using expansion anchors. This avoids minor differences with containers or concrete guys who can't read tapes :)

If I wanted a higher roof space between the containers for motor home storage, can that be done, with a higher pitch roof for solar panels and snow load. Thanks
What would the trusses look like with a larger span, like 40 feet span. I have two 40 foot containers lined up like you do in this video, but cannot figure out a reasonable truss system for a larger span. What would be ideal with space not an issue.
The truss manufacturer engineers the trusses based on the span, local roof loads, wind, etc. Al you have to do is tell them the span. I have done (drawn and built) 40' spans before with no problem. The mfr will also provide a bracing plan with the truss drawings. All you have to do is build the proper structure to hold them up :) and attach them with rafter ties/hurricane ties to the beam or wall. I you google truss manufacturer or your local area you should have one you can call and provide them the drawings I can do for you :)
Thanks for sharing this, great video. In most cases, I would assume you would need a building permit for this, and I hear a lot of townships are not keen on approving these simply cause they are not familiar with the container buidlings, but I am going to try anyways. Thanks.
An idea I had for creating a shop out of two containers similar to this was to weld two vertical plates along the top for each roof section and put a bolt or bolts through them, sandwiching the wood beam between the metal plates. This would probably be less convenient if I was going to put tin around the outside, but I would think that would be plenty strong, wouldn't it?

Just fastening is not the issue. The issue is also resisting lateral forces and that is what the steel straps help with. Have you ever seen the top of a shipping contained?
In my case, the shipping containers are welded to the foundation piers to deal with bottom lateral shear and the top shear load is braced by two interior shear walls. The wind loads are factored in. No welding just a few bolts and screws. I know every case varies so good luck with your project. I just have 35 years of high rise construction under my belt what the hell would I know... @@ArtisanTony

Don't call it a container building. Call it a steel structure and they are usually much easier to work with.
