This is good. Yet, if you add ventilations (screened openings) on the gables (the triangular walls of going up under the roof, can be in a triangular shape, with metal screen so almost no insect can get in and nest into the attic), and under the fascia (throughout the perimeter or at intervals), the high temperatures in the attic will decrease considerably cooling your space.
thanks using this clamp method for my roof , im also cladding the sides, so had to allow for the wall being 3-4 inches off the container in the roof design i extented the bottom timer pieces out a few inches at the front and back so i can tie into them when doing the walls. ive added insulation and a breathable membrain to the design also
Nicely done video but wood is for furniture and camp fires, and is no longer inexpensive in many areas. Steel studs and framing is light, durable (doesn't burn, rot and termites don't destroy it. Steel framing has far less waste (one can easily wire weld short scraps to extend them). Wood burns, a consideration in wildfire zones.
I like this concept a lot. It allows you to keep the natural look of the container, which I prefer, while still creating space for foam board insulation. If you are in a cold weather environment, that is the biggest challenges for an ISBU home. They demonstrate a simple shed roof design in this video, which I also like. I has a mid-century modern look to it. I can see how one could easily flip this design to create a butterfly roof, which may be more feasible if you are using multiple containers welded together.
That's nice but you should have cut the sidewall hole for the wood stove exhaust towards the top of the ceiling, that way the flue pipe keeps most of the heat inside so you burn less wood. The way the flue pipe is now the entire vertical part of the tube is outside losing heat.
There is a bit of insulation. The 'plaques de toiture' are made up of the top sheet metal roofing panel and a layer of form fitting foam insulation on the underside. In the sketchup drawing, this foam is 40 to 45 mm (~1.75 inches) thick, so not a lot of insulation, but some anyway.
And in fact at t=4:58 as the list of materials scrolls, the builder indicates, "Couverture: plaques acier sandwich PU ep. 40mm," ie. roofing is a sandwich of the steel sheet and 40mm of PolyUrethane.
Depends on where *you* want *your* insulation. Some shipping container home aficionados put the insulation inside the container(s) because they find it easier that way, while others insulate the outside of the container(s) and apply cladding because it makes the inside slightly more spacious and the exterior is less likely to rust.
Music Title Please.. and Believe me looking at this ...container.. hearing the music is.. NICCCCCCCEEEEEE!... would it be possible to show some type of rain duct..attachment... that can collection water and since they are 30degree angle.. can solar panels be attached?
I was thinking about getting a roll-off dumpster and making a temp roof for it like this. Reason? Temp storage and cost so much less per month than an enclosed unit. Not as fancy a roof as the one in the video.
Rolloff containers would suck for that use but if it's free or cheap, why not? NO WAY would I buy a rolloff for a structure and I'm highly familiar with both. Containers are far superior. For storage I suggest doing as I do and placing a single container with a railroad tie under each end. Containers are supported by their corner fittings so no foundation required. You can hang many thousands of lbs from the interior tiedowns. I torch bend rod stock into hooks, weld those to short sections of 1 1/2" angle for verticals, then bolt those to angle shelves (10' x 2" because that makes best use of standard 20' sections which I have my supplier cut in half before loading on my pickup truck). If you use a container for storage or workspace or both as I do, the less shit on the floor the better.

Hello Sebastian, yes it was created with Sketchup pro. You can download pics on : pleinsudpaysage.blogspot.fr/2017/08/construction-isolation-kit-toiture-pour.html If you need more mail me : contact@pleinsudpaysage.fr Bruno.
Thought it a good idea once, but building a shipping container home leaves you isolated to build around something you don't want. it's LIKE building with a limit in a prison cell. Fuck that concept.
Hmmmm..buy a roof kit, stud in the walls, put siding on the outside.....remind me again WHY I bought shipping container, with all the inherent limitations OF a stupid container, THEN BUILT A HOUSE AROUND IT ?........oh.....yeah.......because it's "cool".........
Great modelling and presentation dude! However, terrible understanding about the load requirements of containers. The corners carry all the weight. The sides are not designed to carry weight. This design would need some adjustment as the majority of roof beams are loaded onto weak points of the container.
So by the time you put a roof on it, wood siding, and stud out the inside to accept drywall or some kind of interior wall finish, WHY bother with the fool shipping container ? All you've done is limit yourself to a long, narrow box of a building. Shipping containers are for shipping, and maybe storage.....this 'movement' to use them as housing lacks common sense.
THANKS FOR YOUR CHANNEL but to be honest, I would subscribe if there was an English translation, but for not having the translation and it’s taking too long for you to actually have the translation ready, I’m out as a subscriber. When there’s a English version in all of your video and future videos, I’ll be very interested in subscribing. I’ll be checking in from time to time to see if you are taking us English speak & reading viewers seriously... 🙏🏾🙏🏿🙏🏼🙏🏻 peacej

So easily explained without saying a word. Awesome!

You need roof vent to prevent condensation and circulation for the oven effect.
Dan az they didn’t show any insulation going in, and with a screw down metal roof, well, they vent retry well,as their such shitty products 😂
Très belle réalisation tres bien illustrée bonne idée bravo continué

i think they meant INSTALLATION instead of insulation... I saw no insulation at all in this video.

Fantastic plans! Thanks Shantay
Thank you so much Shantay !
Maybe a gutter system to harvest rainwater.
Actually a gutter kit is pretty easy to add and install.
Can I get the link to the Sketchup model used in the presentation or can it be found in the 3D Warehouse I would like the same model.
all that cost to build a roof over a roof on a building that will condensate and rust out..great plan.
This will protect your home from heat and rust.
you forgot about insulation on top of the container to prevent from heat!

Nice SketchUp video, even if it is missing a lot of engineering details.
@3:06-3:15 - comment est-ce qu'on fait ca? how are those wood pieces attached?
Any big box dept store should have this hardware if you choose to take this route.
Trés bien. C’est incroyable!
Merci infiniment, super solution.
Beautifully designed!
You too... 🌺😘
So detail in how to created the roof. How about another part?
how are the brackets attached to the container roof?
Welded
Bonjour. Combien coûte un contener en maison ?
Music Title Please.. and Believe me looking at this ...container.. hearing the music is.. NICCCCCCCEEEEEE!... would it be possible to show some type of rain duct..attachment... that can collection water and since they are 30degree angle.. can solar panels be attached?
Where is the vapor barrier for when the metal roof sweets
The insulation is on the inside of the container. I would probably also put fiberglass in roof for even more -R
Great idea. Great presentation.
How do you lift it up after the roof installation in case they want to move it again?
what's the song featured in this video?
One question... WHY? The roof on a shipping container can hold plenty of snow, why would you need to build a pitched roof?
In some areas, a pitched roof can help harvest rainwater provided you install a gutter and barrel or tank to collect water.
Also to keep the sun off the container so it is not an oven.
What needs to be done to minimize the sound of driving rain pounding on the roof?
Upside-down V shaped roof
um, so how does one easily make those compound cuts in the bottom of the rafter?
TheXanUser ..buy a “Speed-Square” the book shows you how..it’s really a rafter magician book..
good job ! very easy explanation of the process.

I dont get it.... whats the point of placing a slanted roof on top of a flat roof?
Water drainage
It provides dead-ish air space as insulation (even with white roofs, containers can get rather warm) and the slant is of course for drainage.
