I built my barndominion pretty much by myself also. 4 1/2 years later I’m finished. A person gets such satisfaction. The key is to have a dream and a daily goal. Lots of hours but well worth it. Looks like my style of build.
Unbelievable editing , your story is really down to earth , what you show me on u tube , I am in awe we need more people like you , down to earth with a pinch of salt , wishing you the very Best .
I loved watching this from start to finish. I would be extremely grateful to have the opportunity to build something like this for my family and self one day. I’ll get there!
WOW! what an accomplishment! Great Job. I'm a retired contractor, and I really liked the compressed version of your build. I followed much of how and why you did it the way you did. I hope one day, I can do the same. You certainly don't need a gym membership when you build homes. You should be very proud of your new home. Congrats! Dave
Отличный проект. Очень приятно посмотреть на хорошую работу рукастого мужика, который решает строительные вопросы с применением смекалки и подручных материалов.
Well, all that to show your dedication, hard work, and truly the love that you have of bringing forth your vision, just beautiful !! As a veteran and retired heavy equipment Master Mechanic, you just showed me how my shop would be like. I'll be lookin for other builds that you post. Blessings
You and your wife are a true inspiration thank you for posting this video you guys have given me the nudge ive needed to start and build my motorcycle business
I've been looking at container garage video's over and over with no satisfaction at all and this is the best one yet. This is exactly the one I've been looking for. Thank You, Jim L PS Your just kidding about the CAD plans right???
Here’s the million dollar question?? What did you spend on the whole project? You nailed it both in the condensed video and showing it can be done from a DIY standpoint.
Thanks for the encouragement! I don't save receipts but I'm thinking it was in the 20-30k range ... some second hand materials helped keep the cost down
@metaspencer this is a beautiful build for only 20-30k that is awesome and very inspiring I'm hoping that some day I can do something like this as well
I remember, the ground crew did help you out quite a bit on this one. 😁 And it turned out looking great. I hope y'all get many years of memories in this barn. Y'all take care and may Father YHVH bless y'all, brother.
Love video's like this. This teaches us who dont know how to do thing's the way forward. I built my 6x10 shed by myself at 58 yo, and this is grand scale to that, but still i learn from watching. Thank you. I love my tools.
I was stoked when I saw this video come out, great vision and great knowledge to make it happen! I didn't see the clean up crew in this video, they must only be on the tree jobs. Badass Spencer!
My favourite type of CAD cardboard aided design ❤ I plan on buying about an acre of farmland and doing something similar. My middle school was a container house and I've always wanted to replicate something similar but obviously better.
High tech engineering, I love it! The end result is pretty impressive. Oh, and I’m sure you already know, but Melissa is definitely a keeper. Another great video!
I am almost done building the same kind of building. It has been quite a experience. My family has been in trades for longer than ice been alive so we just kinda winged it not really thinking anyone else was doing it too. Lots of lessons learned along the way and it will be an amazing space with a car hoist, in floor heating, washroom with washing machine, big wood boiler, tons of storage, well lit, and vaulted 16ft ceilings. So cool to see the same concept done different. My total cost is aproaching 50k USD with another 10 to go. Thanks for the video.
Cool to hear that you're building something similar -- good idea on the hoist! I started out not know about similar buildings, then found a few on TH-cam as well
What an awesome project and job. I've been watching this since the beginning and super grateful that you've shown us what and how you did this. My hats are off to you! Thanks a bunch!
Literally thee most beautiful self made home I've seen in a long time. Love love love it. And I want to.do something similar and a Lil smaller ... say a prayer lol I'm in so cal lol its expensive here
Great Job Spencer.....now you can enjoy the space for all those up and coming projects, take it easy my friend and see you on the next vid, and of course not forgetting Melissa.
Nice, I like it, but I can't say it's unique, I have seen several done very similar to yours, Still, you did a bang up job on it.. Thanks for sharing.........
Damn, I try really hard not to be jealous of what other people have. But boy am I envious of the skills you possess in construction! Awesome final product 😳👍
Ive seen a few videos of this type of build. But this one takes the cake. Metaspencer….. I hope to one day be better than you. My hat is off to you my brother. You hit a grand slam. Very beautiful… Very nice.
The editing is off the chart man!! The camera angles and POV you showed is Excellent. What a great video. I shall have to watch your entire series now, I just found your channel. Thank you, Jim in Oregon
@@metaspencer I did, the retrievable rigging, and the " too many tree workers dying" I agree with you, tree climbing and working has some serious risks. Rescue training is a great tool to keep your mind sharp and aware of the risks. Like you said," If there's no one to rescue you, you are stuck. Jim
First time watching your channel! I just finished my second terrace and all by myself first one in concrete and wood and the second one all metal all details welded by me. Your video reminded me of how much fun was and how hard is handling plywood by yourself. Enjoy your work with the family , I’m a new subscriber.
Looks great, finished very nice. I'm working on plans for almost exact same layout. But I'm thinking two container high (if I can make it work) and windows on the stub wall just below the top roof junction.
INCREDIBLE YAWL😊❤SOOOO MANY AMAZING PARTS TO THIS BUILD THAT I LOVED.. BUT I MUST SAY I WAS MOST INTRIGUED BY YOUR BENDING OF THE FLASHING WITHOUT A BREAK 💪😎👍🇺🇸I DIG THE V SHAPED CUT IN THE PLYWOOD ❤ NICE MOVE😊
Great video! So many hours unaccounted for, great job! Curious as to total project costs materials alone, any chance of materials breakdown costs? Its definitely a dream of mine to one day make something like this of my own! You both deserve a cold beer after this magnificent build!
Thanks for the enthusiasm! great to hear. It was definitely a fun project and turned out better than we thought. As for cost I don't really save receipts and a lot of materials were used or second hand, but I'm estimating in the $20k-$30k range. Depends on materials costs in your area of course, cost of concrete, etc.
A whole bunch of hard work and ingenuity condensed into 15 minutes. Very impressive.
thanks for checking it out! yeah, lots of good times out there working on it for sure ... more than 15 minutes hahaa
I built my barndominion pretty much by myself also. 4 1/2 years later I’m finished. A person gets such satisfaction. The key is to have a dream and a daily goal. Lots of hours but well worth it. Looks like my style of build.
Took me a few years as well but worth every minute
The masculine urge to build a barn. Amazing work.
you and your wife are so focused and on a mission. I love the simplicity of the design as well.
thanks for that! yeah, I couldn't have done it without her help for sure
Amazing, A garage door on both sides would have been my only recommendation.
After using it for a while I completely see your point! Access through one door is a pain ... good point man
Or are least a small 8x8

As an engineer that has over a decade experience using CAD, I'm very impressed with the level of detail in your model. Very nice.
Cardboard aided design works out haha
Loved how you just got on with it, head down and graft graft graft not to mention how skilled you are too ❤ from the UK
Thanks for that! UK woohoo!
How does one go about getting the blueprints for this? Very interested in building one!
I was joking about the plans -- it was just improvised
That was great to go back over the entire build. It is an awesome space. Thanks for sharing.

Very impressed with your simple yet sturdy DYI shop/barn. I would really be grateful if you would share your drawing. Thank you

Enjoyed your video so much! Well done! I always wanted a box barn built in 16 minutes. : - )
I might have taken a tad longer than 16 minutes in the real world ;)
Seriously impressive Spencer! ❤

How’s the insulation on the shipping container inter walls of the inside building does that hold a lot of coldness or take longer to warm up?
Works perfectly in all seasons. The boxes act as insulated breaks for the building though they’re hot or cold inside them
Well done.
