I built my barndominion pretty much by myself also. 4 1/2 years later I’m finished. A person gets such satisfaction. The key is to have a dream and a daily goal. Lots of hours but well worth it. Looks like my style of build.
Love video's like this. This teaches us who dont know how to do thing's the way forward. I built my 6x10 shed by myself at 58 yo, and this is grand scale to that, but still i learn from watching. Thank you. I love my tools.
I loved watching this from start to finish. I would be extremely grateful to have the opportunity to build something like this for my family and self one day. I’ll get there!
Unbelievable editing , your story is really down to earth , what you show me on u tube , I am in awe we need more people like you , down to earth with a pinch of salt , wishing you the very Best .
Here’s the million dollar question?? What did you spend on the whole project? You nailed it both in the condensed video and showing it can be done from a DIY standpoint.
Thanks for the encouragement! I don't save receipts but I'm thinking it was in the 20-30k range ... some second hand materials helped keep the cost down
@metaspencer this is a beautiful build for only 20-30k that is awesome and very inspiring I'm hoping that some day I can do something like this as well
WOW! what an accomplishment! Great Job. I'm a retired contractor, and I really liked the compressed version of your build. I followed much of how and why you did it the way you did. I hope one day, I can do the same. You certainly don't need a gym membership when you build homes. You should be very proud of your new home. Congrats! Dave
I remember, the ground crew did help you out quite a bit on this one. 😁 And it turned out looking great. I hope y'all get many years of memories in this barn. Y'all take care and may Father YHVH bless y'all, brother.
What an awesome project and job. I've been watching this since the beginning and super grateful that you've shown us what and how you did this. My hats are off to you! Thanks a bunch!
First time watching your channel! I just finished my second terrace and all by myself first one in concrete and wood and the second one all metal all details welded by me. Your video reminded me of how much fun was and how hard is handling plywood by yourself. Enjoy your work with the family , I’m a new subscriber.
I've been looking at container garage video's over and over with no satisfaction at all and this is the best one yet. This is exactly the one I've been looking for. Thank You, Jim L PS Your just kidding about the CAD plans right???
I was stoked when I saw this video come out, great vision and great knowledge to make it happen! I didn't see the clean up crew in this video, they must only be on the tree jobs. Badass Spencer!
Great Job Spencer.....now you can enjoy the space for all those up and coming projects, take it easy my friend and see you on the next vid, and of course not forgetting Melissa.
Damn, I try really hard not to be jealous of what other people have. But boy am I envious of the skills you possess in construction! Awesome final product 😳👍
??? 45+ years ago used a 2 1/2" pipe off of the cutting edge of the loader. brought back to the corners with light chains. Worked well for lifting the truss up to for the pole barn. I did much the same the thing for my covered area for temporary area. Except I the bucket had welded hooks on the corners.
Looks great, finished very nice. I'm working on plans for almost exact same layout. But I'm thinking two container high (if I can make it work) and windows on the stub wall just below the top roof junction.
High tech engineering, I love it! The end result is pretty impressive. Oh, and I’m sure you already know, but Melissa is definitely a keeper. Another great video!
Great video! So many hours unaccounted for, great job! Curious as to total project costs materials alone, any chance of materials breakdown costs? Its definitely a dream of mine to one day make something like this of my own! You both deserve a cold beer after this magnificent build!
Thanks for the enthusiasm! great to hear. It was definitely a fun project and turned out better than we thought. As for cost I don't really save receipts and a lot of materials were used or second hand, but I'm estimating in the $20k-$30k range. Depends on materials costs in your area of course, cost of concrete, etc.
Thanks for checking out the build! took 2-3 years after evenings and weekends and cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30k by my best guess ... I'm pretty happy with it
Awesome work sir, thanks for sharing. You should capture the water coming off of the roof for future use. As of today what do you estimate this to cost to build? Thanks again.
I absolutely plan to capture that water. I've got one IBC container but kinda want a huge cistern for water storage. In the works! I don't save receipts but cost is up there over $20k or so at this point

Beautiful job! Well done! I have been working on my the same concept and I am wondering how well your cones are bearing that roof load. Any sagging? Have installed any columns to support it? Any snow load on it yet? Fantastic looking building!
Hey Spencer I thought that this was pretty bad ass! If I could get a copy of your plans I would appreciate it! I think I'm going to do this on my property.
