- Digging through the desert, Egypt is creating an artificial river, the largest of its kind! Spanning up to 114 km (71 mi), this artificial waterway will cater to the needs of the agricultural regions of the New Delta project. The new artificial river will run parallel to the Nile, using recycled water from agricultural drainage water and groundwater. The whole project comes at a cost of $5.25 BN or $160 BN Egyptian pounds. So why is Egypt taking such a huge leap when it already has a supply of the longest river in the world; The Nile River?

Will Egypt's mega long man made river have the outcome they expect?
I love Egypt i wish them all the best from a Greek
Imagine if Egypt chose to grow hemp as opposed to cotton. Not only would it take less water to grow but it could provide a building resource of hempcrete and the textile industry would benefit from hemp by producing longer lasting more durable textiles. 🕺🏻🐕💕
Love it! Keep up the good work.
A side note the ppl u brought up in the beginning of the vid aren’t Egyptians.
Pretty interesting.
It could be interesting to have, at least theoretically a damm and water power plant before Cairo, somethere in the near of Saqqara. If you see to the topographic maps, there could be possible to rise the level difference up to 30m. If the volumetric flow or Nile is 2633 m^3/s, and if the efficiency could be 0,8, so the power coul be P=2633×1000×9,82×30×0,8= 620MW. And there could be big water storage till Assiut, 300km long, to not have problems with Ethiopia because of water.
Every country needs this in north africa,to much desert equals death.
I hope it works out as planned. Obviously it should all be powered by renewables.
Why is it not all powered by renewables ?
Sometimes it’s just not feasible.
Which Country get Permit converted Abbay River

Shame no Map was provided. Also techniques againdt water evaporation.
Lastly Solar power to power new industries and provide shade for Agriculture and Waterways etc etc. Could do better than fleeting glimpses and camera shots ?
MOU Agreement Between The Republic Of Somaliland And The Federal Republic Of Ethiopia Soomalia and it's ally countries never have changed it and do not be able to Stop
Egypt should join the Sudan and build the Jongli- Strip Canal, first proposed by the British in 1929, to straighten the meandering White Nile in the vast swamp of the Sudd , which loses 50% of its water in evaporation.. This would give more water to Egypt, and at the same time reduce the tension with Ethiopia with its high dam on the Blue Nile
Ethiopia have every right to use Abbay river (blue Nile) to maintain food security of 120+ population and provide electric power access for over 55 millions it's citizens who live in the dark in 21th century and drinking water supply for over 72 millions who are suffering from Waterborne diseases due to lack of clean water.
No!
Oh noooo. They gonna destroy the Nile.
another economy bleeding project for Egyptian citizens 👎🏻
